30 seconds after Froch beat Taylor, my bird says "what a load of crap, I am not watching boxing with you again!"

This happened on Tuesday morning, i was on 6 till 2 shift,it was 5 to 6 and i had a hangover.......

no becuase zeroprobe isnt refering to the money aspect its a fight between 2 fights who are clearly past their best and risk doing perminent damage to thereselves by getting back in the ring

Me and two mates were in the queue for Khan-Barrera at the MEN and there was a load of asian lads from bolton in front of us, one with hardly any teeth left and alot of gold chains turned round to us and said:

"Whose a better fighter, Calzaghe or McNeely?" (He meant Maccarinelli)

Without even getting the chance to reply the lad blurted out:

"McNeely init, McNeely" nodding his head up and down very fast as we just stared at him in shock.

Fastforward an hour or so and Enzo Maccarinelli was knocked out by Afolabi.

I've also heard someone call Hatton the middleweight champion of the world and someone screaming "scouse bastard" at Wayne Elcock at the MEN Arena.

1) Is this a real fight or are they pretending
2) Hit him (at this point I suggested he'd thought of that)
3) Jab (again the same thing but he was massivly over reaching and the british fighter [thaxton] was jabbing but the other guy was stapping off to the left so it wasn't helpful advice)

That's why I said sometimes, Ray Robinson is arguarbly the greatest fighter that ever lived and IMO would have had way too much for Pavlik but I fail to believe that a chain smoking, drinking partygoer like Carlos Monzon would have beaten a dedicated athlete who lives like a monk like Bernard Hopkins. It just an opinion after all and if modern day athletes are always breaking records why shouldn't modern boxers be able to beat the boxers of the past.

I was not saying you were suggesting every modern fighter could beat ever olden time fighter btw, was just saying that in the same way that I dislike the old giffers saying that old is best I also dislike the Generation X attitude that modern is what it is all about.

I do agree with what you are saying that if man can run faster, jump further and higher etc (basically sports that have clear comparisons that show modern man is better) then logic says the same is true in boxing. I think that whilst modern lifestyles, nutrition, techniques and knowledge should make the modern fighter faster, stronger, fitter etc that it is not always the case. Plenty of those olden days fighers were tough SOB's who fought all the time and boxing shows that skill and technique and a boxing brain is the best attribute to have.

Two examples - the best boxers around are ones we consider having old school tricks and knowledge, Hopkins being a great example and as for modern fighter being better than older fighter. How could a fighter from a couple generations earlier in George Foreman come back and compete so successfully with modern man?

My current annoyance from non-boxing fans, "you must have felt a bit stupid flying all that way to see a five minute fight".

Er no, I saw a punch perfect masterclass from a future all time great. And that's without even going into the party activities...
