I know a lot of people who know Hatton very well.

Ray apparently wanted Graham out ages before, but Ricky wanted to stick with him. The various last straws came when Billy Graham went for Paul Speak when pissed in the main MGM Grand bar a couple of days before the Mayweather fight in front of half the national media (who agreed to hush it up), there was also a fight Matthew had when Ricky wasn't in training and Matthew basically had to train himself.

He was trying to use his jab to get inside and threw a lot of straight right hands... clearly that was a big tactic they worked on. But Pacman was just too good.

but, on the other hand, hopkins was still in the p4p top 10. for a bit of balance.

i think, on the grounds that "Joe isn't what he could have been" i.e. if he stepped up and learned faster in better fights, earlier, that he could have had the beating of, say, the 37 yo Hopkins.

i actually believe joe was still learning how to fight counter punchers, at the end of his career. as the holes and the flaws were just obvious; but there were signs of adjustment in the 2 fights

You still haven't worked it out have you? You act as though this is a new thing.

Cotto used to drain himself to make 140 and came into the ring closer to middleweight, De La Hoya used to drain himself to make 130 and 135 yet came into the ring as a welterweight, Joshua Clottey weighed in at 147 for his fight with Corrales but came into the ring weighing 170lbs. The vast majority of fighters drain themselves to make weight and then put on a stone on average, it isn't just some thing exclusive to Hatton, Pacquiao himself is one of the biggest culprits for draining himself and coming into the ring much heavier.

If Hatton was to fight at welterweight then he'd be fighting on the night what are essentially middleweights, so yes they are too big for him and he doesn't have the skillset to outbox them.

a) Every here knows Warren has a reputation, a sort of British version of Don King if you want to call it that.

Are you really that naive?

Warren was building a case in the public's mind which went to High Court and he lost.

If he gets it in the public consciousness that he was a great promoter for Calzaghe, who was always trouble, dishonest and pulled out of fights, it increases his chances in court of proving that Calzaghe used to agree to things (like contracts with him) then back out. It's one of the classic problems of his Sun column.

And, in the real world, libel actions are unbelievably costly. You can go around saying "I'll sue you" to everyone, but you can end up going to court and still losing money if you win because of the costs. Lots of people have been near bankrupted by trying to take out libel actions.

Hmm well wouldn't that be others causing the friction? Billy and Ricky always seemed like brothers and Billy clearly cares about Ricky. Ray Hatton doesn't really know a whole lot about boxing to be kicking Billy out so I can only imagine he wanted to pay someone less for the same job.

Hatton has made Graham rich, but Graham has played a part in making Ricky rich being with him from his amateur days basically working for nothing
