I also feel for Setanta !!! - as much as I got p*ssed off with them a month or so ago - I have to eat humble pie and state I was wrong in my complaints about them - they have been good for sport and especially good for boxing - I will be gutted if they go!!

They should have focussed on their core competencies, i.e. premiership footie and decent boxing. They were trying to be too diverse in my opinion, paying too much for Scottish footie (£125m! Come on the standard is shite!) and Premiership rugby which again I don't see as a mainstream sport and they paid £65m for it.

I think the amount of money they spent on boxing would have been far less than both those 2 things and yet would have won them plenty of subscribers.

Point noted my friend - but it was my opinion at the time that Rhodes withdrawl and a couple of other things that have happened led to myself and quite a few others suspicions.

I know you have pulled me up for it Mr Payne - but I feel guilty as **** for laying into Setanta a while back - it was wrong of me to do so just because they could show the Froch fight - hindsight is a wonderful thing and I obivously wish I knew what was about to happen - I will repeat Setanta have been good for boxing - just hope there is a way out for them but simply cannot see it.

It would take a hell of a visionary to believe Boxing could be made mainstream again. Christ.

The Scottish footie deal was ludicrous.

I'm sure an argument could be made they've spent too much on boxing....?

Reckon they got value (in terms of viewing figures) from their FW deal, and now from Hayemaker?

Scottish clubs can't survive without this money and if Setanta goes to the wall so will many Scotish clubs. It will probably be the deathnail for the SPL and Celtic and Rangers will be taken into the English league

I hope they dont go under as they have by miles the best boxing coverage I dont even know if SKY reported Haye pulled out if its on another channel its not happening with them also I cant see SKY buying over there boxing maybe ESPN might by them and keep it similiar to Setanta and keep the boxing that would be good

As absurd as this may sound I genuinely believe that boxing can be mainstream again. In my experience the world is divided into two sets of folk; people who like boxing and people who don't know that they like boxing.

At one stage most of my family, including my gran, were routinely tuning in to watch Amir Khan and Joe Calzaghe. The only reason they lost interest was due to the lack of regularity and consistency in network coverage.

If ITV really wanted to (providing of course he keeps winning) they could turn Carl Froch into as big a household name as David Beckham.

Holly Valance was the best of the latter day ones.

Boxing Streaming will be the future of the sport i feel.

The rest of the boxing world has already migrated onto the internet now, with the exception of a couple of weekly / monthly magazines (that you can rarely find in any newsagent).

Only the official fights themselves are missing from the internet.

In 3+ years when TV's are wi-fi internet enabled as standard, it will go full force.

Agreed.

The problem is the quality and rigidity of the streams.

But no doubt, streaming is most definately the way forward and will dominate the pro game in years to come. Virtually every big fight will be available on PPV Streams.
