It has always been my plan to take him out at either the start of the new boxing season or after 12 months of inactivity. So, I have not climbed down on this issue.

They both have good potential, but I would like to see them prove it against their top domestic rivals (Thaxton and Macklin) before I move them up into the top half of the rankings. I hope the big fights come off for them, so they can prove their abilities.

So why is Froch at 3 and Dunne at 7?

Calzaghe and Hatton are more established at the top level than Froch, so I kept those two above him.

Dunne has only recently won his interim title, so I decided to keep Woods and Witter above him as they have only lost their world titles within the last 15 months, before that they were established as strong world title holders.

Both Froch and Dunne can climb up a place or two if their next defence is against someone decent.

How did Witter establish himself as a strong world title holder. What did he make, 2 defences?

He beat Harris, who was rated highly at the time, to establish himself as a worthy champion. His reign may not have been massively impressive or long, but Witter was ranked as the number two fighter in the division after his Harris win, which would suggest that he was a strong champion.

wrong - it wasnt the interim he won. The WBA vacated the regular title when Caballero won the super title. Dunne won the regular title, Then Poonsawat won the interim. Dunne very held the interim. Get yer facts right before you start talking shíte!

It doesn't really matter what the WBA call his belt, he is not the proper WBA champion, let alone the true champion of the division.

Whether Dunne is the interim champion or the full champion, his record is not as good as Woods and Witter's records, so let us not play up the importance of the exact name of his title.

Dunne and Duddy have been in the list every month since September 2007, and there have been many other Irish fighters in and out of the list before and since then.

That does seem to be too much, based on recent results. Mitchell seems to have got his best wins at the right time, and managed to avoid falling down as much as a fighter in that position normally would. Hopefully this can be corrected soon.

It does seem like I made a mistake, although I don't feel sorry for making a minor mistake like that.

I feel that you over estimate Irish fighters and think they should be ranked higher than they should be. The only Irish fighter that I think is significantly lower than he should be is Paul McCloskey.
