Hey Mate

Its going to be a great fight - Rhodes to win the early rounds possibly putting Jamie on his arse - then it will be question of whether Jamie can win enough of the latter rounds!!

I will phone you with the wager and the contracts can drawn up by your office!!

Rhodes will edge this fight, I think.
personally I think it's a horrible fight for Moore and he'll get exposed here.

Rhodes has the exact style to do him. Moore is nothing more than a come forward pressure fighter. A hardy bast*rd, but nothing special skillwise (Amazing that some on here have argued and presented cases that he'd beat Paul Williams).

I am prepared to give him credit for beating Rhodes (who is domestic level). Lets keep this in perspective though, for the way Moore is hyped on this forum, he should be having absolutely NO problems with Rhodes, a guy who lost to Lockett (and we all remember that Pavlik farce).

Personally I see Rhodes being unorthodox and making things very awkward. He will be very dangerous with the hooks and straight punches.

Moore gets exposed in this fight. (Like I said, I'll give him credit for winning, but remember, this is only domestic level).
Paul Williams is a different kelttle of fish, but Rhodes of today gets beaten fairly easily imo.

3 years ago I would say Moore had no chance against Sergio Martinez, but now he has a good chance.

Rhodes is too erratic and not the fighter he was, imo.

We'll see what happens. This fight will tell us all about Moore. Rhodes couldn't beat Lockett, so we know his level. Locket took a good hiding from Pavlik, so we know there is a huge gulf in class there (I believe there is yet another gulf in class from Pavlik to Williams and that Williams will dominate him fairly easily, but we'll see).

I'm usually right about these things though and I see a very tough fight for Moore and see him getting stopped again. This is his level. The likes of Paul Williams would have him out of here sharpish. Rhodes will show us that.

But by that "rule", Rhodes beat World Champion* Scott Dixon, who beat Moore....

It's unfair to look to much into Rhodes loss to Lockett.

*Yes, I know.

I think the use "form lines" in this way proves nothing.
Is Rhodes better than Moore because he beat Scott Dixon, and Moore didn't ? No.
Equally is Moore better than Rhodes because he lost to Lockett at Middleweight ? No.
I truly believe this is a classic 50/50 fight.

Excellent match and a tough one to call. I think Moore will justifiably start a slight favourite but you can make a case for either of them to win. It could come down to who has the best camp and by that I mean which fighter manages to avoid little injury niggles that have plagued their careers.

Rhodes' speed will cause Moore problems but he tends to switch off and have lazy spells. He'll need to maintain his workrate otherwise Moore will eventually slow him up to the body and grind him down late on. Jamie's the more complete fighter of the two, whether at range or inside, and he has matured into a very intelligent boxer.

I think Ryan's speed and, possibly, his power can be a factor. Both can be hit and hurt. But if Ryan can maintain his discipline, as he demonstrated against Vincent Vuma, he can pull this off. My gut feeling though is that Moore will recover from a poor start and finish strongly to snatch a decision on the cards.

I don't feel Rhodes has been active enough, more so in a real competitive sense and I think Moore will walk him down, which in turn will surprise a lot of people.

Moore is a different beast to the one that had those efforts with Michael Jones, and if he wasn't I would favour Rhodes, who himself is class act in and around the domestic scene.

However, Moore is the one on top form, with a good run of stoppages, and shut out points wins - Rhodes is more jaded in my opinion, but has enough smarts to make it an intriguing fight.

I feel however that the career in ascendancy at the moment is Moore, and he'll prove that on the night.

I didn't mean it that way mate. I would never make a who-beats-who argument through the form lines.

I was trying to highlight LEVELS. We have posters on here who think Moore is a world champ in the making. Lockett and Rhodes are LEVELS below the likes of Pavlik and Williams. So this fight will tell us a lot about Jamie Moores level.

Moore wins this, but not as tough as, say , his incredible win over Macklin. Jamie will simply have too much of everything for Ryan, but will have to show some caution because Rhodes can dig a bit at light middle. Moore by stoppage or wide points win.

Will this actually push him closer to a world title shot though? Rhodes is a name in Britain, but elsewhere???

Well, as is always the case iwht boxing the "politics" have a lot to do with it. Whoever wins may indeed be looking at a world title shot, or maybe not.

On the World scene there is Sergiy Dzinziruk, at WBO, who might possibly end up facing the winner.

Rhodes has come back well, but his wonky Ingle style will fold under the pressure of Jamie Moore. Rhodes can possibly make things tricky, but I can only see Moore winning this one.

I actually think Moore switches better than Rhodes, more seamless & smooth for sure. Ingle stylists seem like they have to switch every two minutes. At a lower level that style can really tie ppl up in knots but I don't think it'll work for Rhodes at this European-going-on-world level.

I can see the appeal as this has WBC implications, it would seem. So it looks like Moore definitely has something to fight for, rather than it being a step back. Is there any way it could be made a WBC eliminator?

Hopefully Mooresy gets his world title shot after this.

But you should know you dont have to beat a Pavlik or a Williams to win a world title. There are world champions out there a level below these fighters. Plus, both are at a different bloody weight to Moore!

Williams may ome back to 154, he is versatile with regard to weight. I agree you don't have to beat a Williams to be a world champ but several people on here believe that Jamie could beat Paul Williams (I have argued with them before). Williams is on Pavliks level (I believe he is better). Pavlik is LEVELS above Rhodes, as we can see from the Lockett drubbing. So therefore, Moore should be beating the shite out of Rhodes according to some on this forum. I am talking about LEVELS here. Keep in mind Moore has already been stopped twice at domestic level and went life and death with limited Matthew Macklin.

Personally dont think he went life and death with macklin either, but there we go.

We'll see in due course. I'd not discount Moore against the WBO guy Dzinzruk <sp> or someone like Sergio Morra - thats for sure. Even Spinks could be caught by Moore you know, not inconceivable, he sometimes blows hot and cold.

by his own admission Moore was hurt more than once in that fight. his comment afterwards, that he wanted to move up in levels quickly, as he 'couldn't keep on having fights as tough as this' (words to that effect), suggest similarly that he thought it was close to being as tough as fights get

See, fomr the replays I thought Jamie caught a lot of the punches on his gloves and arms, now, dont get em wrong, im not saying it wasnt a hard fight, christ both men gave it absolutley everything. But you look at Jones 3, thats life and death. Felt Jamie pulled away fomr Macklin and "old manned him" if you like in their fight. It was a storming fight, but I didnt think he was too busted up, and dont remember him being really hurt at too many points, not like Jones 3 anyway.

Dont get me wrong, im not saying it wasnt tough, but I dont recall him being battered.

I also think so, but it should have been this year! Moore is cracking fighter & comes across as a very nice guy, so I wish him nothing but the best of luck in his bid to become the best possible fighter he can be!

Moore deserves a title shot more so than any other current fighter! He''s had enough eliminators, now is the time to be given his chance to go for the big one! I'm confident Moore will not look past Rhodes & Jamie will treat this as a dangerous contest!

Moore should have too much for Rhodes!

Momentum. The bookies will have him favorite - Moore is at his peak, and Ryan was at his peak...what 10, 12 years ago??!
Still, he's got huge experience now, and fights like an old pro - he surprised Lockett, and could well have a few surprises for JM too.
Moore should grind out a win though, I'd guess on points.

I love Moore to bits, and he lives about 10 minutes from my house, but I think he's fringe world-class. But I reckon Moore will stop Rhodes, who is probably European level, at very best.

Opticald,
I am biased I have no problem in admitting that, but can you please explain to me how on earth you can say Lockett gave Rhodes a DRUBBING ?
Were you there mate ?
Rhodes gave Lockett more than a few problems, had him rocking at times and upon Lockett's own admission up to that point he had not been hit as hard.
Rhodes was 70% right for that fight.
It was also at the wrong weight class for Rhodes.
He's unbeaten at Light Middleweight.
This is a quality match up.
I'm telling you now, neither camp will be seeing this fight as the walkover many are predicting.

I means Pavlik gave Lockett a drubbing. Rhodes fought on even terms with Lockett and even had him on the canvas.

I'm actually tippling Rhodes to win this fight.

I just don't think either of them is anywhere near top world class. Still though, its a good fight and I'm glad it's been made.

Sorry mate, its old age creeping in - misread your post.
I agree with you, both have loads to prove on the World stage, if indeed either gets a chance to prove that worth.
I honestly thought Moore would have had his chance by now.
When he pulled out of the Colas fight, I genuinely thought that was because his chance had come, and fully expected Rhodes to be fighting for the vacant Euro title.
As things work out, we've got a great domestic match up for a real title.
I just hope the winner gets to be placed in a strong position as a mandatory challenger and that the WBC regard this fight as an eliminator.
We'll just have to wait and see on that one.
