Well Enzo at his best had a good jab, uppercut, and could dig to the body with power. He also had underrated boxing skills and I think he could utilize his height and reach advantage to keep Tyson at a distance and time him with uppercuts, which would probably wear him out after 9/10 rounds.

Wayne Braithwaite was basically just as good as Tyson, but he never got the same type of exposure or hype. Look what Enzo did to him.

I was wondering where the eff that thread went when I logged back on

No offence dude, but the reason the thread had gone... was that nobody cared about it.

When a thread that's like 4+ days old has slipped onto page 3 or something, it's a sign its dead.

Correct me if i'm wrong, I'm not a member there, but are you the same Flint Island that people poke and ridicule on ESB ? for constantly creating new ways of posting about Macaroni ? didn't you get banned off there for constant Macaroni threads ?

If Macaroni is your thing fair enough, but constantly 'bumping' a dog tired discussion.. it's not cricket me duck.

(i repeat, no offence)
Nah mate - youve misunderstood me - no thread I was referring to had slipped to page 3.

I created a new thread called - "Maccarernelli was a car crash waiting to happen" - then logged off - a few hours later I had logged back on and the thread was gone - only to find it had been merged into this thread - which is fair enough.

........................................................................

Lets clear a few things up about this misconception about me - FLINT ISLAND

People did poke fun and ridcule me on ESB because I brought it on myself - playing a wind up persona as if I worshipped Enzo Maccarenelli as some kind of All Time Great

I knew what I was doing all along - just playing on the joke that Enzo was a world class fighter - and the Haye fight was supposed to be 50/50 going in as the worlds 2 best crusierweights but really Haye proved it was a world class fighter destroying a British / Euro level fighter

I was just playing on the joke of Frank Warrens and Enzos delusion of the way they hyped him up as the Worlds best - and took a step further by saying he would beat - Tyson, Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Holyfield, Bruno, etc.

Dont be fooled by the joke persona - alot of them mugs on ESB poking fun about me - dont know no-where near as much about boxing as me.

The good posters on ESB - who know their boxing - I feel all have a decent respect for me.

Never been banned for a Maccarenelli thread but banned for a few other threads about various different subjects

You had allegedly then saying Enzo was the "hardest pound for pound puncher on the planet" when he was clearly nothing of the sort he was a good banger up to Euro level - but I played on the joke of that hyoe again by making a poll asking..........

Who punched harder ?

Enzo Maccarnelli
Sonny Liston
Ron Lyle
George Foreman
Mike Tyson,
Lennox Lewis
etc
etc

Maccarenelli was all hype - even Joe Calzaghe once said

"All the boys I train with are not World Class - apart from me and Enzo Maccarenelli - we are the only real World Class ones"

Which was another joke bit of hype - because Maccarenelli had just struggled past the likes of Mark Hobson, etc and he was claiming to be the World NO 1

He was a top 20 - 30 fighter

Any of the Worlds top ten Crusierweights would have beaten him - because the likes of Cunnigham were World Class

Enzo was - British / Euro level

I aint made any Maccarenelli threads on ESB for ages - as the joke faded out last year

I am currently banned from ESB - because of a joke thread I made a against a poster called Betty Swollocks - he laughed and got the joke - cos he is a mate - but the MODS banned me for it - they got strange adminstration on ESB - Boxrec seems much fairer.

Ultimatley credit has to be given to Haye for finding the heart to pull the strength from somewhere to stop Frogemeni

However during the fight - Forgemenei pressured Haye and had him in a bad state

Haye was cut and distressed - and I believe almost actually bursting out into tears because he was so upset that the little fella was bullying him
Not how I remember the fight. He had Haye fighting at pace, but I distinctly recall a thrilling KO conclusion after Haye suffered a bad cut, kept his composure and landed a brutal combination that laid Fragomenni out. But hey, that's just me.
Thats how I remeber the fight too

But I also remeber up until Haye pulled it out the bag he was under heavy pressure and was close to folding in himself

Enzo and allegedly brought it all on themselves

The best in the World - the hardest puncher in the World - he had some test done that showed he punched as hard as a car hitting you at 40 miles per hour, etc

He said he would destroy Haye

He even said in my local paper around 2006/2007 that he planned to be the first undisputed Champion - WBO / IBF / WBA / WBC since Evander Holyfield

Its good to have aspirations and goals, etc

But there was far too much talk and hype rather than just showing it in the ring

If your serious about the hype - then you dont waste your time fighting Bobby Gunns - etc -

Maccarenelli is a brave fighting lad though - he got in the ring with Haye and took his pasting - so you got to give him credit for wanting to try and be the best

But ultimately in world class terms - he was a hype job

It was like everyone around Maccarenelli - even Joe Calzaghe - were obliged to regard him as World Class.

The likes of Gary Lockett, etc, from the Calzaghe Camp - he had a big fight against World NO 1 Kelly Pavlik - but he was rightfully regarded as a huge underdog

The joke was when Maccarenelli fought Haye - it was a joke that it was billed as a 50/50 fight - the Battle of Britain - whos gonna win - opinons divided

You even had Colin Hart tipping Maccarenelli to wear Haye down in 8 rounds etc,

Jim Rostental - had Maccareneli wining in the later rounds

People lumping big money on Maccarenelli to do the business

When it reality Haye had just come through a much higher class of opponet when he stopped Jean Marc Mormeck for the WBC / WBA World titles

Enzo was a paper champion = being regarded as someone who was gonna fight it out with Haye to see who really was NO 1

Which was another joke bit of hype - because Maccarenelli had just struggled past the likes of Mark Hobson, etc and he was claiming to be the World NO 1

The bottom line of it all is this -

Enzo Maccarnellis career was a bit of a joke because he was hyped to be a level above what he was - it was all smoke and mirrors.

If he had been regarded all along as a British / Euro level fighter - he would have done OK

But he had no business being in such a big fight and promotion against David Haye

Maccarenelli could have won the British / Commonwealth and maybe European titles had a decent legacy

But now he will be remebered as being thrown in and destroyed by Haye in the most overhyped fight in British Boxing History.

Flint. Did Enzo have sex with your wife or did you lose a lot of money on the Haye fight? I can think of no other reason for your incessant, wild postings about the Welshman and his untimely demise.

Nah mate - ............although he did once go out with my mates missus sister - then he dumped her apparantly - so she is mad at him ............... LOL !!!!

But that is sweet f all to do with me

Enzo seems a good guy

But I think he was just hyped up to be something he was not

I wanted to him to KO Haye

And I picked him to beat Haye - but there was that nagging doubt that Haye was a class above - at the way he had KO'd Mormeck

And on the night Maccarenelli got found out - running to the ring, etc,

I hope he can come back

I hope he can KO Haye in a rematch

But its not gonna happen...........................probaly not anyway

Theres nothing to gloat about

Enzo had a good career - made some good money - and held a WBU and WBO World Title Belt

Its just he didnt live up to the hype of a undisputed champion, etc

He was a good fighter - and Swansea's first ever World Champion

Seems like a good guy

Dont try and drag me down by trying to make me out to be a bad guy slagging someone else off for their failures

He had alot of success's too - good wins over Bruce Scott and Wayne Braithwaite and Domingueuz.

I just spoke the truth

He was a decent fighter - overhyped - as in the Worlds best - and then he got found out

Just the way it goes

He can still be a good British Champion - of he can get his confidence back

I will end by saying this

Enzo could have done alot better if he was better looked after

Training on his own with Charlie Pearson must of be very unmotivating

Then Enzo Calzaghe did improve him intially but he talked alot of shit on Maccarenellis behalf in the build up to the David Haye fight which didnt help

allegedly didnt aid his progress matching him against too many Bobby Gunn types - then just throwing him to the Wolves agaisnt Haye in his only true competive fight.

And the in the end Camp Calzaghe let him down and totally neglected him in a important rebuliding fight against Ola Aflobai

And then he was just deserted - confidence shot - tried to come back against Lebdev with a new camp, etc - and met a sorry end

Its sad ending to his career - but boxing is a tough unforgiving sport

On the flip side - he had his good years - fighting cheif support on Calzaghe fights - and had WBU and WBO title reigns and made a big lump of money fighting for the WBC / WBA titles

So he had a decent career anyway.

Then....

I will end by saying this (spazzes out again with another pointless ramble about Enzo being found out/hopinging he can reclaim former glories/repeating himself for the 17th time regarding Big Macc's career).

Gneuinely tremendous scenes. I don't think this thread should ever die. I mean how long actually is it since the Haye fight? People have such short memories...

I dont think its as bad as youre making out pal

I just said that Maccarenelli was over hyped and badly flawed and badly exposed against David Haye.

On ESB there are posters on there who routinely say insulting things against Enzo and other boxers which is just plain insulting.

I probaly only cant stand one British Boxer - Ricky Hatton - cant stand the fat little c**t.

Enzo was oright - but a bit deluded - with his losing excsuses, etc.

I wanted Enzo to KO Haye - and thought he had a decent chance of doing so.

When the fight got stopped in the 2nd round - it was a bit of a anti climax - and a disapppointing end.

I think Enzo could have done alot better in that fight - but he lost it mentally.

My mate on the other hand - who I worked with at the time - who shall remain nameless - kinda knew Maccarenelli - he had trained up his Dad's gym - and knew alot of the boys from that area - but wanted to see him knocked out - because he said Enzo was big headed and that he was good at talking (in the Haye build up) but doubted he was gonna be as good fighting - and picked Haye to win.

I pointed out to him that most boxers are big headed - and that Haye was probaly more big headed than Enzo.

But he didnt know Haye - but he knew Enzo - and wanted him hammered.

When Haye KO'd Enzo - my mate was dancing around the room in joy - and came in Monday morning to work with a big smile on his face.
