I don't think there's hate for Groves on here mate, he's a talented fighter who could go places.Jab and Move wrote:Why is there so much hate for Groves on here, he's a nice kid?

It's just like Diggler said, saying he can knock out the British Champ is disrespectful seeing as Groves is still a toddler.
Chunky got slaughtered for talking big, as have others, it's nothing new.
This is the initial post in the thread, sounds disrespectful to me!MrBoxingUK2 wrote: has anybody actually read the interview? he was asked wether he could beat smith and he says he thinks he will ko him. that is not disrespectful
Jab and Move wrote:George groves, according to BS, has said after he beats Adamu he will knock out Paul Smith, British champion. To qoute Groves exact words:
''I watched Smith and Dodson last week and thought it was a poor show for the talent in the country. I would beat Smith tommorow. All Smith is going to do is hold and bore people to death. I reckon i'll knock him out.
big mouth in an interview??he was asked wether he thinks he can beat smigga and he said yeh said he thinks he will beat him based on smith's last two performances...big mouth? i doubt it. just giving his opinion. groves may not have fought anybody apart from samuels but he has had world class sparring in the last 12 months. sparring froch on several occasions fragomeni and is sparring kessler and abraham soon$wifty wrote:MrBoxingUK2 wrote:swifty have you actually fought anybody decent? fighting bums you should have fought on debut in your last fight. groves has WAY more talent then you in my opinion, stop getting all emotional because groves said he would ko your brother, i think he would to be honest paul has looked poor in both his last 2 fights..somebody would have asked him wether he thinks he can beat paul smith and groves would have said yeh i'd knock him out.. nothing wrong with that.$wifty wrote:Exaclty!!! Right, the reason im gettin "worked up" as u say, is not just coz someone has mentioned knockin my brother out, its because I know George having been on squads and been away with him and know he is a quiet well spoken lad who wouldnt say boo to pauls face, so why have a big mouth when he has someone interviewing him, disrespect is all that is. And as for the bum in my last fight, not my fault fighters are pulling out is it? The fight was offered to other good lads but no, everyone pulled out leaving a late replacement in Jason Thomas. I thank him for taking the fight but do u see me talking trying to make out im david haye coz i stopped him?? NO! And as for Groves having way more talent than me, thats your opinion, my opinion is: He has no defence, especially now he is imitationg Haye, he should try being himself. His chin has been exposed before, by dickinson - even if u now say he had mumps or whatever.....god knows how he passed the doctor before the fight with them - EXCUSE written all over it! And he is too easy to hit, needs to work on his defence! Again - just my opinion but having worked close with him, my opinion is as good as most. Going forward, aggressive wise he is good, throws lovely shots and is heavy handed, cant knock him. If u ask would I swap myself for him - no! Im happy how im coming along thankyou very much 8)
he doesn't need a reality check, if he looks good against adamu then he is more then ready for smith, groves has sparred alot of top guysdiggler wrote:groves needs a reality check
That doesn't do Groves any justice whatsoever.MrBoxingUK2 wrote:full interview here

Can you spell your name and is my car safe in your area??
Big mouth in an interview just meaning that this isnt the first time he has gone slagging people in interviews. You have your view, I have mine. I feel it is unfortunately, Adamu was AWFUL in his last fight, no skill, no real desire to win just swinging wildly and hanging in tough to take the win, which I didn't think he deserved. Dilks won the fight but again, looked bad and had no real belief in himself - The post fight interview confirmed that.avidlemon wrote:foooking hell.
Groves, the lad needs to front crawl before he goes swimming with the sharks.
This fight with adamu is not formality. End of the day, i think you have to favour adamu in all aspects; title holder, bigger record and experiance, and he WILL hit groves back.
I would love to see groves in with dilks after this, though if successful, as dilks never lost the fight against adamu in a month of sundays and deserves the chance to win it as he did the first time, and would smash the granny out of groves
I agree we were looking at a shadow of the fighter who fought froch. In terms of what i feel adamu's strengths are going to be in the fight, i agree he isn't going to bring much skill to the table against groves, but the way he does swing his arms, groves has shown he is there to be hit, and has wobbled against lesser men. The problm groves is going to face here is a man who isn't going to be shifted by the first power shot he is hit with.Smigga wrote:I feel it is unfortunately, Adamu was AWFUL in his last fight, no skill, no real desire to win just swinging wildly and hanging in tough to take the win, which I didn't think he deserved. Adamu will be a punchbag, the wild shots should never catch anyone of a decent ability and I feel Groves will blast as many shots as he can in as short a time he can - copying his idol Haye. Referee may jump in due to too much punishment but it WILL be interesting for one reason only. If Groves can do the 12 and if his chin holds up if somehow Adamu lands a lottery shot.
Adamu is nothing like the one that had a good go at Froch, and the Commonwealth title is there for the taking for any super-middleweight that can box for 12 rounds. I reckon referee jumps in around 5-6 and I feel Adamu is seriously being over-rated - along with Groves
Sorry disagree the way to beat Adamu is to put him on his back foot - if you simply counter and stay on the back foot that will fall into Adamu's hands big time - Adamu does not like to be pressured - he is an "on top" fighter who does not like his opponent dictating the terms.hurlock wrote:also b4 adamu fought dilks knowbody knew what to expect, we've all have been able to have a good look & make judgement from are couches where we are all sugar ray leonard's, looking at dilks losses he has been robbed & big s.middle with a good jab.
i see groves going straight on the back foot counter for this fight in haye fashion pawing the jab & unleashing big right hand left hook then pose combo's & possibly making the mistake of putting all his eggs in one basket loading up & getting sloppy where he could get dragged in to a war or he could land with his big guns & look the nuts.
thAt's fair enough but i know haye well from the ams & know his style, he'd allways let people come on to him & throw first b4 countering with big bombs abit like the bonin fight obviously b4 he had him gone jumping all over the pole.Spud wrote:Sorry disagree the way to beat Adamu is to put him on his back foot - if you simply counter and stay on the back foot that will fall into Adamu's hands big time - Adamu does not like to be pressured - he is an "on top" fighter who does not like his opponent dictating the terms.hurlock wrote:also b4 adamu fought dilks knowbody knew what to expect, we've all have been able to have a good look & make judgement from are couches where we are all sugar ray leonard's, looking at dilks losses he has been robbed & big s.middle with a good jab.

In addition - with regards your thoughts on Haye - the only time he has felt the need to stay on the back foot and counter is the Valuev fight.
Fighting as an amateur is worlds apart fighting for the Heavyweight championship of the world in the professional ranks - of course you would have known that already!!!hurlock wrote:thAt's fair enough but i know haye well from the ams & know his style, he'd allways let people come on to him & throw first b4 countering with big bombs abit like the bonin fight obviously b4 he had him gone jumping all over the pole.Spud wrote:Sorry disagree the way to beat Adamu is to put him on his back foot - if you simply counter and stay on the back foot that will fall into Adamu's hands big time - Adamu does not like to be pressured - he is an "on top" fighter who does not like his opponent dictating the terms.hurlock wrote:also b4 adamu fought dilks knowbody knew what to expect, we've all have been able to have a good look & make judgement from are couches where we are all sugar ray leonard's, looking at dilks losses he has been robbed & big s.middle with a good jab.
