Spot on. Way to backtrack, Flint.
No = not at all.

Most of the threads about Enzo V Mike Tyson or Lennox Lewis or Muhammed Ali , etc - was over on Eastside Boxing Forum

I was new to the internet at the time - and I thought trolling was a fun thing to play - until I got bored of it and realised you can have fun on forums without being a troll

My reputation was more from what I did over at ESB - but they knew i was messing about

So what comments about Enzo did you think I was actually being serious about then ?

My serious view on Maccarenelli is this.............

He is a good Euro level fighter / on the fringes of World Class - with wins over faded Braithwaite and Dominguez and was beating Ola Aflobai

Good puncher and good speed - but a bit limited with some bad flaws and a shaky chin.

Got over hyped - and thrown in the deep end against David Haye and got exposed somewhat.

To answer the thread title -

I get the impression that......

It seems a bit of a crime to slag off David Haye - as if everyone should get behind him

If you dont like Amir Khan - you are just a hater and a racist

And if you prefer Junior Witter to Ricky Hatton - you are rounded up on with Hatton defenders

But ultimately - no poster makes me like or dislike another fighter

I have my own mind - and own instincts - and I can decide if I like or dislike someone off my own back

If you are controlled and influenced to the degree of wether you like or dislike someone because of what another posters writes than you are mentally weak - and have no conviction about your own self and opinons.

The Witter / Hatton was worked both ways, Flint. It was kind of the "cool" thing to do to champion Witter a few years ago. Nearly every post congratulating Ricky on his achievements would be met with "still not proven the best in the UK though"...... and when exactly did Witter prove himself the #1 contender to Hatton for that title? He got awarded the lonsdale belt for keeps.

I do think some boxers will get tarnished because they either 1) Don't have internet access, are not computer literate enough or 2) Don't wish to engage in debates / discussions and neither to their fans.

Take the Amir Khan split from Oliver Harrison. That got the juices going from many posters..... We mainly got Oliver Harrison's versions of events - from people who Spoke to Oliver, worked with Oliver, interviewed Oliver etc. Not saying it wasn't the truth, but many seemed to judge Amir and the lad didn't say his side - perhaps it was his silence that was the reason why people sided with Oliver. A sign that Khan had nothing more to say. Who knows.

Then came the big debate about Khan joining up with Dean Powell, Dean has been a much maligned figure on the internet forums. People condemming his match making, coaching but loving his tan! Dean then made some comments about how the internet was killing British boxing (or words to that effect) - got absolutely crucified on here, untill he made some posts.... then it was lets all love Dean Powell.

So in away, as much as its the boxers on here get the respect for showing they are an all round good egg (which they do). The ones who don't, can't or refuse, get IMO unjustly criticised.

I do seriously hope nobody tars boxers with the same brush as their fans. Might be completely different individuals / personality.... well I am sure they are.

I can see why Flint made the point about racism and Khan though. Cause I have been racking my brain and wondering whats really not to like about him. He's exciting to watch, a world champion at 21, prepared to make sacrifices and doesn't seem to disrespect opponents both in and out of the ring.

Khan's made alot of decisions that if it was any other boxer we would be applauding. FW has a history of undermatching his fighters, when Ricky left him at 27 we were applauding and the aftermath was - that by 31 he had fought the two best fighters of his generation, won the world title at 2 different weights and beaten among the best the devision had to offer. Khan did it earlier and his loyality got questioned. People all of a sudden really believe that had he been a FW fighter, Khan would be fighting Maidana and not Malignaggi (like Malignaggi is an awful, unworthy, challenger). Khan's two world title fights under FW were hardly awe inspiring.

There does to be a "double standards" when it comes to Khan, and I aint sure why.

PS - I am NOT calling you a racist..... I don't have a "go" a people hating Khan (for whatever reason) - prefer to debate it rationally - However, I am still racking my brains as to what he's done so wrong.

Totally agree - I remeber Kevin Francis of the Daily Star remarking before when Kevin Mitchell and Amir Khan were on the same bill a few years back - he witnessed an army of Kevins fans being extremely racist and abusive towards Amir when he was fighting and said these "fans" had no place in the sport

But it would be unfair to hold that against Kevin Mitchell

All these middle class white males - 20 to 30 years old going on boozy weekensds to Germany to support David Haye - I bet alot of them are fake fans just following Haye cos it is the "thing to do amongst mates"

Examples? I really cannot remember him slagging off anyone. I also cannot remember him talking about himself much in the 3rd person.

Did Lennox Lewis piss you off aswell then?

PS I agree about Khan though....I personally don't mind him but don't think people who disagree are racist.

A lot of the Witter fans I found to be blinkered, even after he got pasted by Bradley and Alexander it was still "Ricky this, Ricky that" rather than addressing the issues to do with the man himself.

I'm not even a huge Hatton fan but they got my back up. I blame 26..... :)
