I saw the fight a couple of times Marlin, mate Alex won the first 2 rounds, and had Walker down in the opening punch of the fight( Crawford Grimsly vs Jimmy Thunder style), Walker was in trouble a lot throughout the round, while Walker commanded respect with a beutiful kit of punch's from the big man. Round2 was close but Alex, round 3 Alex was dominated afterthe half way mark. Round 4 started the same way it finished and you've seen the rest.

Alex was in front on points, but a badstoppage never the less.

According to BoxRec, Leapai was down 30-27, 30-26, and 29-27.

exciting fight

but jeez it was really poor quality....like two drunken pub brawlers

however its a good name to have....

i thought initially that Travis Walker might be the tougher opp cos of his power...but Beck might be able to move and outwork the slow and limited Leapai

still if he gets these two wins under his belt he can def move on and maybe make some noise on the c level scene

if u saw leapai fight cronje u would have seen that it literally would take a truck to ko him. both these guys connected with bomb after bomb and r two of the toughest guys out there. walker connected with a heap of bombs as well and i'm not surprised that leapai hung in there the way he did. leapai was a million to one just to stay on his feet in that 4th round, and to actually win was quite amazing really. the guy could barely stand up and the ref probably should have stopped it earlier to protect leapai from further damage.

in saying that, leapai has got to work on protecting himself more if he is to keep progressing.

Crusader, i can only tell it how i seen it, how a guy can be knocked down in the opening exchange of a fight and be in serious trouble for the first 2 rounds of the fight more than 5 times, be in front without losing a round is beyond me, but imo if you score each round it certainly was a 10 - 8 to Alex in the first and a 10-9 in the second....the commentaters were at there best(unbiased) and there were calls of the fight being stopped in Alex's favour througout the first 2, however the same was being said in favor of Walker throughout the third and 4th.

I still stand by this and still think the fight was stopped early.

Mate i don't think alex has ever been hit the way Walker hit him( Alex has 1 of the best chins in the businesss in Australia), even in the first Alex blocked Walkers punch's and they had him wobbling around the ring, they were heavier hits than Cronje dished out and Cronje can hit.

For me Walker would clean house in Australia, Aus Heavys should be paying close attention to that fight, because Walker would be ranked at the backend of the top 30 Heavys in the world and the man can end it quickly with novice fighters.

Is anyone still amazed that this fight actually went thru....i was still expecting Bob Mirovic to enter the ring as the late replacement.

Unfortunatley for you aussies the top 3 oceanic boxers are as follows:
1.David Tua (N.Z)
2.Shane Cameron (N.Z)
3.Alex Leapai (W.Samoa)

watch the cronje fight again, leapai was hit with many massive bombs just as heavy as he copped from walker and was out on his feet, but he is one tough bugger.

meehan would beat leapai and cameron.

Yes he is Samoan but Alex represents both Samoa and Australia. He lives, loves, trains and fights out of oz. Same can be said for David with NZ.

In my opinion the top Heavys from this region go

Tua
Meehan
DeMori
Leapai
Cameron

People might not agree with my assesment, Tua has proven himself to be the best in this region. Kali is a close second.
Demori has the best skills of any heavyweight in this region.

Agreed about Walker looking the tougher of the two, and your assessment of Leapai-Beck could be decent, but I just have the feeling Beck doesn't come to win these days. A high-class journeyman now.

LOL yep... it did look too good to be true. So fair play to all involved that it went ahead.

By your logic, then Tua is not a Kiwi either.
