Lennox Lewis vs Evander Holyfield I...Lennox won that fight. Now that I saw this fight again, it was much closer on points than the first time watching it 13 years ago.

Now I am going to see fight #2 between them.

Watched Vargas-Wright for the first time. What a fight it was! Cant believe its not talked about more. Two of the best light-middleweights in a quality action fight. Vargas with more power on his shots, but Wright with more accuracy and activity. I had it 115-113 for Winky, and although I would consider it a robbery per se, it has be called a poor enough decision. At the very least Winky deserved a draw.

Anyways nothing could take away from the class that the two of them put forth here, Winky was some scrapper when he wanted to be.

Nigel Benn Vs Steve Collins 1. benn is just overwhelmed and cant hurt or contain collins at all

I just saw Lewis vs Holyfield fight #2...It was more competitive than the first one. I think that Lewis won the second fight, too. If it were 6 years earlier, like 1993, I don't see Lennox beating The Real Deal, even when Lewis gained more muscle and weight. Evander would have knocked him out.

I just watched Whitaker vs Chavez again.......Whitaker just plain pulled out a can of sweet science whup ass on Julio, and those judges that scored it a draw were obviously flatlined.

Thank all the deities, they couldn't find it in their wildest imagination to give the fight to Julio. That at least says something.

As good as Julio was, and he was TOP SHELF....no doubt...... it was a joy to see such a masterful performance by Sweet Pea....again..

This was NOT a hard fight to judge. One man simply outperformed the other, clearly, and without ambiguity. Talk about an embarrassing home town decision.

Purely pitiful judgment.

Just started watching that after I read this & realised that whilst I read about it at the time, I'd never seen the fight. I've seen early Gatti in the second Patterson fight & Rodriguez (? I think, dude closed Gatti's eye & decked him) & of course Ruelas but not much else of his pre-lightwelter days. One of those guys I read so much about growing up but we rarely saw him on British TV until his fame was established.

I've got to the second round & I'm already wincing every time Manfredy goes to throw a right hand: Gatti's defence is almost non-existent & he was unbelievably open to counters. Marquez, Morales or Pac would've made mincemeat out of him, let alone Mayweather- or Arguello-calibre super-featherweights.

Sonny Liston vs Albert Westphal. Ouch.

Then: Sonny Liston vs Cleveland Williams I. Williams out-jabs the jabber for about a round & a half, following with some wincingly hard uppercuts & left hooks, & one straight right that moved Liston back about three feet. Then, late in the second, Liston dials the straight right in as he finds some success with the jab, & once he's inside he shreds Williams; the strength seems to drain out of the immense man's body. The third is mostly one-way: when Williams eventually goes down he looks like someone's undone him from whatever frame was holding that body upright & he goes down hard. Merciful stoppage as well.

Now to watch the rematch..

Evander Holyfield vs Pinklon Thomas.

A fight that is never easy to watch as it is so brutally one sided. I really loved watching Evander back then and told everyone that would listen that he would beat Tyson.
