everybody on this forum seems to think i trie and wind smigga up..which is correct BUT only because he ALWAYS says something to me firstCarlos-Wigan wrote:Smigga wrote: Hang on Carlos, read the whole thread - More importantly read every post concerning me that HOBB has commented on. I've bit my lip plenty of times.
This was a respected fighter in Stephen asking a respected trainer in Billy his opinion on the result and ratings of a forthcoming fight outcome. HOBB decided to do what's best and force his uneducated and weak opinion on the matter which I found pathetic. I've 'outed' him many times on here when he's claimed to have sources, inside info and evidence that he actually doesn't have.
I don't claim to be a forum veteran and I haven't called anyone a "noob"
I know that saying what I did would put me up for criticism but in fairness, people can see what's happening with this idiotic child. His balls have dropped, he's going through puberty, wants to fight everyone and tells his 17 year old birds that he argues with boxers online.
I know that, in fact we all know HOBB has been needling you and when and where it happens it should be edited (not critique or opinion, which I am sure you agree is a must for any forum that thrives on opinion) I'm suprised though Paul, that you have responded to it on here though. (And I know it must be hard not to as you have stated) You know where you are at and what you can do and the facts speak for themselves.![]()
HOBB is entitled to his opinion as long as it is done in a respectful manner, when he flames you then by all means go to town on him but in this case. Paul - look - you are the British and Commonwealth champion! Why are you coming down to this level - we all here have dreamt (except for slapbangwallop) of being what you are - I did as I was getting my head knocked off in some community centre in St Helens!British champion - and you are letting HOBB wind you up. Step away from the computer, lie down on the sofa, have a nice cup of tea and some biscuits, get some CDs of crashing waves on and chill out!

Simpson by stoppage middle to late rounds. Young Smith seems talented but so many fighters who have looked good in there early fights have lost when matched against tough opposition and they dont come much tougher than John. Simpson isnt much older that Ste but has a barrel load of experience on his side. Looking forward to it and got my ticket ready for Saturday

I've seen A LOT of John Simpson and obviously a hell of a lot of Stephen. The best and worst of him. I know Stephen's strongest points and weakest and believe me, your claim holds no water whatsoever.
I'm curious to know how much of Stephen you've actually seen
The barrel of experience on Simpson's side is more than balanced out by Stephen's amateur pedigree. He's fought top top class opponents all over the world and had 100+ England and GB Internationals.
If Stephen had have qualified for Beijing EVERYONE would be going on about him the way his family, friends and gym-mates are.
Every fight of Simpson's is out there to scrutinise. Stephen has only had 10 fights against journeymen and hasn't had to get out of 2nd gear. The 12 round wars that Simpson has had, he's lost. All 5 of them.
Sorry to go on but I can't see your reasoning in your prediction.
All the best

simpson's last 3 fights can't be scrutinized hes won them by stoppage and he's better now than his last fight,in saying that i feel stephen smith will be a harder fight than the last one, like you say hes not had to come out of 2nd gear he most certainly will come saturday and he'll need to sustain it CAN HE? time will tell.Smigga wrote:What makes you think Stephen can be stopped? I've said since this fight was made that Simpson is at his best now, he's never been better or fitter.
Stephen will go through the gears no problem Billy, and through Simpson haha.

Never anticipated a fight so much, and that includes Mayweather v Hatton. Cannae' wait.

Re: John Simpson Vs Stephen Smith (betting)
This fight is gonna be brilliant BUT I must say Stephen is a really clever kid, People will see what I mean on Saturday, He can win this fight going forwards, backwards or he could counter-punch the fight.. People are gonna be shocked at how special this kid really is. I've trained almost all my adult years as an amateur with this kid and he's got something very fighters have. Come Saturday you'll all see it too..
I'll also say this Simpson is a tougher fight than Lyndsey, He's more mature and has more experience against fighters with varied styles.. Simpson has also gone to a new level since training with Billy Nelson as did Ricky Burns..
However this fight will not be determined by coaches it'll be determined by the fighters and believe me Stephen Smith will win this fight whichever way he see's fit imo...

Re: John Simpson Vs Stephen Smith (betting)
The one thing we don't know about Smith, is what happens late on in a fight?
We can all see he has excellent skills, and good punch power. But what happens when someone is still there after taking those punches in the later rounds.
We have seen many prospects fail when that happens, and just as many prospects rise to the challenge. Thats what makes this fight interesting to me.
I've not seen Simpson really wobbly by a head shot. I did think that he has been hurt a couple of times with body shots, so this may be a key for Smith to take control of the fight. Take the fight out of the fighter.
I really can't wait for this one

are you guarantee'ing this
swifty is in a fight & will be taken into the trenches were i think he'll do fine despite his lack of rounds etc. sod having you as a matchmaker smigga :!:

I hope Smith wins. I like Simpson as a fighter but would like the renaissance in pro boxing in Liverpool to continue! The only concern I have is that Smith has not gone past 8 rounds yet as pro. With an experienced opponent like Simpson, this might be a tough one.

Re: John Simpson Vs Stephen Smith (betting)
Intriguing crossroads type clash this one, with a proven but still young and ambitious veteran looking to repel the challenge of a touted and undoubtedly talented up and comer.
We've all seen sure fire prospects fail before when they've stepped up in class, but equally so we've all seen genuine talents do the business on respected fighters on their way through.....this fight i believe falls into the latter catagory.
Simpson is a solid and still steadily improving fighter, but Smith seems to have the talent to grace a higher level. So long as he takes it one step at a time and doesn't get ahead of himself. I can't see him coming unstuck against John Simpson.
Great tester for him, and the genuine confidence and banter coming from both camps is great stuff. The scene has been set, looking forward to this one!

Great great great fight!!!
The touted 'amateur star' prospect, against the on-form and seasoned (young) veteran.
Can't wait for Saturday night!

Im not saying he will be KO'd by any means but more stopped through tiredness due to the style John has. I would have preferred to see him take his first 12 rounder against a limited but durable journeyman first before putting him in with a guy like John. Im not doubting his ability or potential coz its fairly clear he has plenty but at least make sure he's a strong swimmer before throwing him into stormy waters. I understand he was a good amateur and obviously from a very boxing orientated family with heaps of advice to call on but a 12 round title fight in the pro's is quite a different ballpark from the aba's.
I'd love nothing more than to see him succeed in his career and I will be behind him every step of the way as lond as its not against any of my fave fighters lol ;)
Im a fan of yours too Paul and remember enjoying the 'contender series' so much more coz there was a brit in it and those trainers certainly seen your talent.
One things for sure he clearly doesnt want to take any easy fights and hats off to him for stepping up to the plate in this one.
Cheers for now, Paul.

Well done to Swifty, I had John winning but from here on in its time to support the young fella (unless of course its a rematch lol ;) )
Congrats to young Liam by the way it may have ended in a draw but what a hell of a fight it was and a great learning fight for the future for the kid. If it wasnt for the Burns Martinez war wee Liam had a shout for fight of the night ( even for a 4 rounder)

Glad you lot talked me out of my Simpson bet.
Fantastic fight that could've gone either way. Fair play to Swifty for wanting to progress his career quickly, it was a BIG step up in class last night because Simpson is as touch as nails and fit is a butchers, but Swifty acquitted himself excellently and he's only gonna get better with experience
