I had Simpson winning by a couple. Well done to Smith for that performance after only 10 pro fights but I think they'll be lining up a few defences against unknown African imports before he steps up again. Was quite horrible to watch at times.

Congrats to Smith, I had Simpson just nicking it by 1 round, don't have a problem with the judges giving it either way but the actual scores were all wide which I didn;t agree with.

I had Simpson up 115-113 thought he was affective with his aggression and his right uppercut was really good, come on burns :TU: . I do think Simpson was slightly hard done by

i had it 107 a piece at the 11th.

smith will really grow from this fight, his inside game was lacking, he dont need lindsay yet,he need's a less accomplished fighter to polish up against, cant see the rush he's got no problems doing the twelve he should be brought along nicely now i hope.
feel sorry for simpson even towards the end of his career in his home he get's no favours :!: inactivity will kill him now.

very very close, you have to feel sorry for simpson....116-112 was so generous.....respect to both

edit: also isn't that a split decision, not a majority? I didn't think smith could win after burdis read out the first score

Well in swifty, you did well lad although it was a bit too close for my liking. You need a few more fights now at this level and then you can step up again.

calm down :!:

i still have love for you, i can teach you :DDD

bit abrupt of me to put it like that. 28 is young but if you look at were he's started & finally get's to fight at home, boy he's had it tough.he really is a decent fighter but will struggle without a belt where smith goes from strength to strength getting built up.

Really glad I didn't bet on this one now as I'd have gone for a Smith stoppage or UD.

After that, it's not hard to imagine Lindsay giving him more than a decent argument. That fight might be coming too soon for Smith imo.

lindsay is fresh & seasoned & a bit better then simpson.

smith is a talent, i felt simpson just won & being champion in his own backyard v a kid who aint been past 6-8 speaks volumes of smith imo, i allway's knew it would be very tough & smith wouldnt be credited for a tough win which i cant argue with.

Smith said post fight that the Lindsay fight has been ordered.
It has been ordered but that doesn't necessarily mean that it will happen.

smith hit and held, sometime didnt even hit but just held much too much for me..he seems like a good lad and that does swifty but i would not have given him the fight..and Ian John Lewis, he never fails to surprise me, I remember watching him ref a fight on eurosport way back in 1997, think it was matt tait who was fighting, and he gave the fight to tait when he seemed to have lost by a mile..

I thought Smith did well for his first 12-rounder but I had it for Simpson by a round. Thought he came on strong down the stretch, that said, there were loads of close rounds which can mean almost any score.

He won't ve licking his lips as much as smith whose just won the belt, in a well deserved performance.

I think you should watch the fight again mate, smith wasn't the best on the inside but Simpson was awfull on the outside.

Smith done enough in the early rounds to win it he beat Simpson to the jab and out boxed him, he walked away with the title out in Simpsons back yard, so he must have done something right,

Smith will have learnt lots from this fight. And let's see shall we how he gets on against Lindsay?

Well done swifty a very well deserved win
