Prescott's power is GREATLY overrated. Only two of his last seven fights have ended in a knockout, and one of those wins was against a bum.

Wth the exception of the notoriously chinny Khan, Prescott has only knocked out bums. Toledo and Cuello had been stoped multiple times and Prescott was unable to do so, despite hitting them with everything but the kitchen sink.daveyboy123 wrote:crusader wrote:Prescott's power is GREATLY overrated. I don't know about that, Prescott has plenty of power when he swings for the fences and lands! I think his recent loses are because he has gone from an unknown quantity to a boxer everyone can fathom out and beat after watching a few of his fights on tape.

Kotelnic (the world champion that beat maidana).overhand_right wrote:Who's he proven this 'new defence' against?
Small overmatched guys who can't hurt him.
Let's see him in with dangerous hard hitting fighters now, then we'll know if he can actually compete with everyone, rather than just certain fighters who have a name but no power.
Kotenik cant punch for crap!!P.s also styles make fights so even though kotelnik beat Maidana that doesnt mean that Khan would do the same.Khan has nowhere near kotelniks durability and even though he's improved his defense i still wouldnt say its as tight as kotelnik is!kingfinn wrote:Kotelnic (the world champion that beat maidana).overhand_right wrote:Who's he proven this 'new defence' against?

chumps talking nonsense is whats going on here - he didnt get tagged once by a world champion whose a renounded pressure fighter, he was hardly hit at all by maliggnaggi who usually lands on his opponents at will. And you guys are trying to say his defence isnt proven lollefty wrote:Kotenik cant punch for crap!!P.s also styles make fights so even though kotelnik beat Maidana that doesnt mean that Khan would do the same.Khan has nowhere near kotelniks durability and even though he's improved his defense i still wouldnt say its as tight as kotelnik is!kingfinn wrote:Kotelnic (the world champion that beat maidana).overhand_right wrote:Who's he proven this 'new defence' against?

When did Kotelnik become a pressure fighter?!The only time he's really pressurised anyone in a fight was against khan and thats because he could cope with khans speed and movement!Regarding Malignaggi, yeah he's a good technican but he's tailor made for khan ie he couldnt punch his way out of a wet paper bag!Yet if you look at khan after the fight his right eye was pretty marked up still! Finally the reason why i mentioned styles make fights is you conviently put in brackets that Kotelnik beat maidana.kingfinn wrote:chumps talking nonsense is whats going on here - he didnt get tagged once by a world champion whose a renounded pressure fighter, he was hardly hit at all by maliggnaggi who usually lands on his opponents at will. Whats the styles makes fights got to do with anything? i said kotelnic is a proven fighter.
Yeah i bracketed Maidana because of this comment - "Small overmatched guys who can't hurt him" - how is a world champion thats beaten one of the top fighters in the division, and lost a close fight to Alexander overmatched and small? It doesnt matter if khan hasnt fought big punchers, that doesnt show how effective his defence is. What shows how effective his defence is, is how many time he gets hit.lefty wrote:When did Kotelnik become a pressure fighter?!The only time he's really pressurised anyone in a fight was against khan and thats because he could cope with khans speed and movement!Regarding Malignaggi, yeah he's a good technican but he's tailor made for khan ie he couldnt punch his way out of a wet paper bag!Yet if you look at khan after the fight his right eye was pretty marked up still! Yeah but most punches land on kotelniks gloves and yet he still gets hit! You're never gonna go through a fight and not take a big shot at some point it just doesnt happen.kingfinn wrote:Yeah i bracketed Maidana because of this comment - "Small overmatched guys who can't hurt him" - how is a world champion thats beaten one of the top fighters in the division, and lost a close fight to Alexander overmatched and small? If he's not getting hit, and punches are landing on his gloves - then his defence is obviously very good.
we were talking about how much khans defence has improved not weather he can take a punch!!!!!lefty wrote:Yeah but most punches land on kotelniks gloves and yet he still gets hit! Yeah but they go hand in hand!kingfinn wrote:we were talking about how much khans defence has improved not weather he can take a punch!!!!!lefty wrote:Yeah but most punches land on kotelniks gloves and yet he still gets hit! You're never gonna go through a fight and not take a big shot at some point it just doesnt happen.kingfinn wrote: Yeah i bracketed Maidana because of this comment - "Small overmatched guys who can't hurt him" - how is a world champion thats beaten one of the top fighters in the division, and lost a close fight to Alexander overmatched and small? No one is his chin and one is his defence - we were specifically talking about whether his defence has improved.lefty wrote:Yeah but they go hand in hand!kingfinn wrote:we were talking about how much khans defence has improved not weather he can take a punch!!!!!lefty wrote: Yeah but most punches land on kotelniks gloves and yet he still gets hit! You're never gonna go through a fight and not take a big shot at some point it just doesnt happen.
Well Kotelnik has a very good defense but still has to absorb big shots, thats my point!kingfinn wrote:No one is his chin and one is his defence - we were specifically talking about whether his defence has improved.lefty wrote:Yeah but they go hand in hand!kingfinn wrote: we were talking about how much khans defence has improved not weather he can take a punch!!!!!
Maidana wants a bigger paydayoverhand_right wrote:Amir is allegedly STILL trying to wriggle out of the fight, saying 'but he's not my mandatory!!'
LOL!
LOL i think most ppl are aware of Khan's chin problems but i'm just trying to inform ppl like yourself that Maidana is vunerable too. Maidana is open and as shown by the video posted he can get knocked down by featherfisted bums. I'm pretty sure Khan will be able to drop him considering his speed!overhand_right wrote:Lol at terminator focussing on Maidana being down in two fights. Forgot about the knockdown against Willie Limond? Or the knock down against Drizlane who had a zero percent kayo ratio. The knockdown vs Gomez?
Just lol.
Its true that Kotelnik does have very good technique but his foot speed is slow as anything and thats why khan had a field day with him!Regarding the kotelnik/alexander fight well i think the fact that alexander was a southpaw actually aided kotelnik to some extent. It was easier for him to land his accurate shots especially the straight right and the jab. Also alexander didnt use his feet enough in that fight which would of helped him alot. Finally regarding Malignaggi well again he is a very skilled boxer but he's always been a guy who's relied on his foot speed and reflexes and it was clear to me against khan that he has slowed down somewhat with age!If you go and look at his rematch against Juan Diaz you'll also see that he wasnt moving around the ring as much as he did in previous fights.Thats a sign that he's starting to age and his reflexes arent as good as they once were.crusader wrote:The fact that Kotelnik and Malignaggi are not punchers does not take away from the defensive master classes Khan put on against them. They do not have big power, that much is obvious. However, they have other strengths that allow them to connect often against most opponents. Kotelnik has very good technique, and knows exactly when to throw a punch. Look at all the punches he landed on Alexander. Malignaggi has good handspeed and boxing ability, which had allowed him to land a fare share of punches against his previous opponents,. Prior to fighting Khan, he had been competative with every opponent he faced, bar Hatton, and even then he managed to sneak in an occasional clean shot.
Both Kotelnik and Malignaggi are skilled guys capable of placing their punches with accuracy, but neither of them could lay a glove on Khan. You can mention the fact that they are not punchers, but even if they had devastating one punch power, they would have lost to Khan, because they couldn't land.
Sure, bigger punchers like Maidana will pose a threat; Khan does have a notoriously bad chin, but they have to land on that chin, and that will be very difficult.
i think you are a delicate flower who shouldn't be posting on here if you're that easily offendedG0mez wrote:I'm mortified people are giving khan 'respect' and so forth,
