Would it not be promoted to the full title if Braehmer's apeal is unsuccesful?

is dimitrenko v sosnowski for the EBU heavyweight title on this bill? i read that dimitrenko is another guy to drop out of the 4 man IBF tourney (along with boytsov and mormeck) and may instead defend his european title vs sosnowski. hope this happens.

looks like some of the fights on this show are the kind of fights that get you rankings and get you near to world title fights, edge you closer vs uninspiring opponents. in other words, dare i say it, bauble fights.

a good heavyweight battle would certainly make the show better (as chisora-sexton added some meat to the last show).

i don't see the comparison personally, as murray's fight was a european title fight vs the top european contender. it was never billed as anything more than it was. whereas wazza's show is supposed to be a world title themed bill. will there even be a "full" world title fight on this bill? cleverly v lakatus - was the poster further above kidding? ok lakatus is in the rankings, but he's a footnote on the euro scene, never mind the world scene. so cleverly is basically keeping the status/position he earned in that brilliant fight with murat. that's a marking time fight, not a world title fight.

i think the Murray comment was a bit of a wind-up, mate.

whereas wazza's show is supposed to be a world title themed bill. will there even be a "full" world title fight on this bill?

i think he'll manage a couple. Macklin and Clev will get 'world shots' of a sort...

i think, though, it'll be as much 'trade fights' like Gavin vs 'decent british level lighwelter' (Dean Harrison/ Lenny Daws, etc), Kell Brook vs 'dangerous but little-known Mexican top 5 rated', etc etc etc

it'll do for me, I am sure :TU:

It was only half tongue-in-cheek to be honest.
The problem 'Barn, is that you slice and dice it to suit your pro-Murray agenda at times. Suddenly, where Murray's concerned, rankings are a credible benchmark, yet there will be other times, involving different fighters, where you will say the rankings aren't credible.
And me thinks you're being a tad disingenuous when you're saying you don't see the comparison given:
1) There's no ambiguity at all that Murray's last opponent was an uninspiring one, hence it being met with resounding apathy even by the most hardcore of fans
2) Your whole attempt to justify the fight revolved around the belief it was advancing Murray's ranking and getting him closer to a world title fight.

oh go on, dessie, just say what you really think, now.

i will say this RE: Murray. as someone who generally has had a very Un-Allegedly-esque trajectory, IE not too many 'bauble fights', I would be prepared to give Murray a break for taking one of those.

if you say so.

thing is deserter, i was talking european rankings with murray and you're talking world rankings with cleverly.

a small difference maybe?

lakatus is barely interesting as a european title challenger. he has no credibility in a world level themed fight, though promoters are able to pull this kind of thing off all the time.

is lakatus one of the best fighters in the world?

kudryavtsev was one of the best fighters in europe.

okay, but i am saying, compare Murray with (say) Kell Brook, who could conceivably end up with a world tital crack having beaten- umm, Mike Jennings. on those grounds we can excuse the odd 'bauble fight', no?

Barn, Murray was 33/1-on to beat Kudriatsev. To me, that says it all.

i just think as part of a mammoth 30 year celebration bill, cleverly v lakatus (thankfully no one seems to have confirmed this) and probably other matchups of this ilk involving kell brook and his lofty WBO ranking, are pretty disappointing. especially compared to some of the matchups on the last big bill. of course, give the last fight of cleverly's (murat) a break is probably due.

lakatos keeps coming up in the WBO. broken down in 2001 by a just past his peak dariusz michalczewski, outpointed by rookie champ zsolt erdei in 2004. back with a vengeance in 2010??

i bloody hope sosnowski v dimitrenko is in the works. that would be better than the very good chisora-sexton fight from last time. give me a good, meat and potatoes european title fight any day, especially over this WBO career building bilge. (yes, it'll get clev and brook closer, it's probably well paid work and it doesn't hurt their rankings, indeed helps t push them up in the ratings game, but it's not great world title action worth forking out £15 for).

I agree totally, dude. But I was also disappointed with Kudriatsev being named as an opponent for Murray. As I was with Lawton, Thaxton, Buckland, and to a certain degree, McAllister. He's being moved way too slow, as a lot of Hennesy fighters are.

Cardiff-Lad1 wrote:Murray seemed to think he was up against a good opponent last time out, Cleverly is GUTTED to be fighting his opponent, he wanted a World title fight and in my opinion deserves it.

He ain't trying to pull the wool over anyones eyes, if he fights this lad Lakatos he will be disappointed as he doesn't see it as a step up in class that he wants and deserves.

It'll be a bit of an anti climax after the pounding he gave Murat.
what is all this murray stuff - is he fighting on the dec show?? don't see how this involves him, there's plenty of other fighters to talk about and it really does get boring. it's worth mentioning that kudryavtsev almost won an EBU title, some feel he was robbed of it, so he got his shot. end of story, surely? lakatus has never fought for an EBU title, and has always fallen short of world honours. don't see how he's a factor on any scene.

thanks for the info, that cleverly is gutted about the fight. glad that ppl are ecited about cleverly, they should be after the last fight which proved he is a hard and talented fighter. i do think it's weird how overboard ppl wetn on about cleverly v brancalion, and how harsh ppl are re murray-kudryavtsev.

Right, Barn, I will make this post then I'll drop it about Murray - or at least try to. I was disappointed with the Kudriatsev fight, not because of Kudriatsev's 'qualites' and the fact that "many think he was robbed" against a very overrated Meezache, but because it came on the back of other very disappointing opponents. Lawton stood no chance, Buckland stood little chance, Thaxton stood no chance, McAllister was standing only a slight chance, too. Murray's fights over the last two years have been nothing more than much of a muchness. It's been a shame too because he's a quality fighter who's probably in his physical peak. It would be a shame to see that wasted.

But cheers for the debate, pal. Now let's get back to fish-eyes December 11th show...

yeah, back to dec 11

anyone else hoping that sosnowski v dimitrenko for the european heavyweight title, happens on this show?

that would be an excellent battle.

i'd be happier with great european title fights (though often great european title fights don't tend to happen unless they are also world title elims, see rhodes-moore, munroe-maludrottu, cleverly-murat) than the international "world" title mismatches.

probably asking far too much, but macklin vs a hard hitting opponent, rhodes v konecny and diitrenko v sosnowski.

I suppose after the Mag 7 bill it's hard to follow it up with a better show and the Cleverly situation is a bit out of Franks control because of the numerous issues with Braemaer and the WBO.

I can imagine the Degale fight being blown out of all propotion and being billed as the big fight of the evening now. It's obvious that there will be more fights announced and I can see at least 1 more meaningful title fight on there. Sosnowski would be good and maybe there will be the return of Kevin Mitchell and feature Paul Appleby, Stephen Smith and what's happened to Billy Joe Saunders?

What about Sexton having another crack at a heavyweight title if Chisora vacates?

Where has all this Sosnowski talk come from? Isnt he promoted by Barry Hearn's Matchroom, which rules him out of a place on this card.

Magnificent Seven was a lot more exciting bill on paper than this, Clev will walk through whoever he fights, so will Brook and probably Macklin v Barker wont happen, so that leaves Smigga v DeGale as the only intriguing fight.
