some very funny posts here brilliant, I would like to state Im english but am lucky enough to have 3 of my closest friends that are welsh, so my take may be a little different in that I find the welsh people so similar in outlook, humour and general demeanour that the reason we take the piss out of them is we can see our own generic quirks and idiosycrincies highlighted in the banter that we give them. The same could be said of the Aussies, I mean no-one gets wound up by say what the danish think of us, but stick races of people who are essientially the same in nature and outlook then they stick together. To then make it interesting we play them at sport to keep the old rivalries going. I think its bloody brilliant that all these years down the line, the welsh make out they hate us and as do the scots, we in tirn call them sheep shaggers etc etc as its the only defence we have. In actual fact its inherent in most people to find similar folk to socialise and understand one another. Empathy, maye Im being a bit innocent here but I have totally no hatred at all for any of the british, anzac population, sometimes mild irritation when it comes to sport but that passes.
Ian I have to take issue with the rugby comments, it depends what part of the country you come from, I was brought up in the west country mate and believe me everyone played rugby Union down there and not football, (similalry in Wgian you wouldnt expect to find toffs playing Rugby league) I went to one of the biggest comprehensives in Britain in Exmouth and can assure you there was nothing upper class about our rugby team (In fact my old captain Darren crompton is presently playing professionally for Cardiff (after being at Richmond , Bath, Saracens and Bristol). And he is one of the most down to earth guys you will ever meet. I do agree however the guys who run the sport sometimes have the heads up their arses which is why woodward has been revolutionary, we need to do the same with soccer and cricket to turn national teams into winners. Forget the class structure and hierarchy and get on with being successful. Here endeth my 24 penneth hahaha

maybe.... hope all the pressur being put on him isnt having an adverse effect on his performances....

its all experience though, presumably he wasnt hurt at it was fairly competitive

He now faces Csaba Kurtucz of Hungary who beat Roberto Cammeralle.

David Price won his 1/8 final 49-25 vs a turk. He will meet the italian Roberto Cammarelle in the quaterfinal. Cammarelle two fights in the tournament:
First round: Sebastian Köber, Germany, RSC round 3
1/8 final: Csaba Kurtucz, Hungary, RSC outclassed round 4

The winner of the fight will qualify for the olympics

I have only seen Price onse, losing to Mohamed Reda Mohamed Aly from Egypt, he didnt look good in that fight. Cammarelle really impressed me. Köber was one of the favorites for this tournament. Ill say that Cammarelle will win on either outclassed of a huge points win.

Lee will win by 7 points.

So is the consensus then that things aren't looking to rosy for the British prospects looking to qualify?

As a point if interest, is a boxer who qualifies from this tournement in Croatia allowed to enter the remaining two olympics qualifiers if they wish?

I appreciate there would be little point (having already qualified) but they might regard it as ideal preperation etc, and enjoy the extra matchups pre-Athens.

I think the ones that qualify in Croatia can compete in the last two tournaments if they want to. Should they get into the final they wont qualify twice, the qualifying spot will go to the 3rd place or the highest non qualified spot

doesn't surprise me Khan lost, he is a young lad with a big future but these are the best European amateurs on offer and he was gonna come stuck at some point.

Done a search and it seems as though Sjekloca is a World championship bronze medalist and a former European Bronze medalist...

I gather Price is up against an Italian (?) who he really isn't expected to get past, so all in all this qualifier is not looking too rosy for the home competitors!
