Glyn,

Thanks for a good, sensible response. I'm glad that you've done it.

What you have to realise is that it was my seven-year-old daughter who was actually Googling her dad's name and discovered that comment. She found it very upsetting and I wasn't too overjoyed. A number of years ago I had an unpleasant situation with a North American reader of one of my books, who seriously would not leave me alone. Such a comment brings back unhappy memories.

I can assure you that I have never called you 'inherently cheap'. You aren't and I've never thought you were. It's a misquote I believe. I could, however, name lots of others around in that day who were inherently cheap.

I think you owe me several large frothy beers which, for old times sake, I may feel obliged to claim.

Ian

Good point Ian, you're right, I didn't consider how such things might look to a seven-year-old! Apologies for that and congratulations, I hadn't heard. It always amazes me if any of us from the Boxing Weekly days manage to achieve anything relatively normal in life, we should be scarred beyond any such capability!

As I said, feel free to give me a call some time, would be genuinely good to have a beer or three.

All the best

Glyn

Just goes to show that a problem can be solved if both parties are reasonable, etc. etc.

And actually I could do with a group hug right now.

We have a really sophisticated moderation system in place here. We don't just go zapping people's accounts willy nilly.

Plus, several of the moderators have privately expressed a desire to have sexual relations with Jane Couch MBE and feel you're looking a gift horse here mate

Agreed Jon, that was a source of pride to myself and Claude when he was BN Editor, we'd talk about it often when we were off covering fights. I think the British websites are the best too. Not being silly patriotic, but with few exceptions Brits cover boxing better than the rest. Not many overseas writers I rate these days - except The Gilf, of course, but he's from another planet!

That's an interesting one, actually. I wonder what international boxing mags are any good? You know, beyond the Yankee ones we know well.

it was the cowboy hat that made you warm to him was it Glyn  He really was one to watch with wins over Bowe and Lewis as an amatuer if my memory serves me correctly. I will never forget the build up to the Bowe WBO title Fight as it got quite heated at times. What ever happened to him? Last i heard he beat Alex Stewart but lost in a round to Michael Grant but that was a while back
Honestly don't know Mark. I remember the Spoon handing him his backside at MSG, but beyond there ...
