Green KOed Jones the year after Jones went the distance with Calzaghe.
So? I remember you saying the exact same thing about the Zappa-Vasquez fight with regards to that Korean they both faced.Brute wrote:Green KOed Jones the year after Jones went the distance with Calzaghe.
you said that regerding hopkind - jones as well.Brute wrote:Green KOed Jones the year after Jones went the distance with Calzaghe.
And yet Hopkins is rated no 1 light heavyweight in the world by Boxrec.thunderfromdownunder wrote:you said that regerding hopkind - jones as well.Brute wrote:Green KOed Jones the year after Jones went the distance with Calzaghe.
calzaghe had brittle hands and wasnt known as a big puncher, while hopkins hasnt dtopped anyone in 7 years, and the guy he stopped then was a blown up welterweight.
going the distance means nothing
I take it you mean Ji Hoon Kim, who drew with Vasquez.crusader wrote:So? I remember you saying the exact same thing about the Zappa-Vasquez fight with regards to that Korean they both faced.Brute wrote:Green KOed Jones the year after Jones went the distance with Calzaghe.
That would be a first. Green has never been KOed. What is this "prime" shit anyway?bollox wrote:In Jones' prime he Ko's Green inside 6 rounds. And Calzaghe makes Green look silly for the full 12

I miss the days when used to be able to gee people up about it, can't believe how much everyone used to get fired when I used to say mundine's going to smash Green, and all that time Green was fighting at super middle, so how can you say Green was weight drained? He always fought at that weight, It's not like he came down a division. It's simple Green's feet were just not quick enough to catch up with mundine. If they fought at light heavy I believe it would of been the same result don't think the extra three kg would of made any difference, if you can fight you can fight, don't matter what weight it is.Mark pawsey wrote:thunderfromdownunder wrote:provided it was at lightheavyweight green would have had a shot. If it were at supermiddleweight Joe would have slapped him silly, it would have been like the mundine fight but worse.
going to have to disagree with you there. green got schooled by mundine at super middle but its common knowledge that weight drainage was a massive factor in that fight. at light heavy that wouldn't be the case therefore the same result wouldn't be guaranteed. also most would agree green has grown considerably as a fighter since 2006 whereas mundine seems to have gone backwards. and at light heavy i doubt calzage would be bouncing back up like he did against jones and hopkins if he got hit by green. admittedly green might not have the same chance at landing so often but i doubt that he would need to, also at light heavy i doubt that he would gas out like roy seemed to.
Vasquez defeated Kim by scores of 120-108, 119-109, and 118-110.Brute wrote:I take it you mean Ji Hoon Kim, who drew with Vasquez.crusader wrote:So? Are you saying Zappavigna had no right to challenge Vasquez, or do you just hate Australian fighters?
Anthony is having enough trouble with middleweights.Mark pawsey wrote:I think after Green won the light heavyweight title he should of made a defense against Mundine
Flores has beaten heavyweights. Hey Mark! if you think Green is so poor, why don't you challenge him?Mark pawsey wrote:That's what I think he should be fighting at light heavy weight, if you want to get technical he hasn't really fought at cruiser. The last fight was close to the cruiser limit, but the ones before that were light heavyweight without drying out on the day of the weigh inthunderfromdownunder wrote:it can effect people differently. ricky hatton struggled alot when fighting at 147. I think green should just go back to 175. The competition is better there anyway
and rightly so, but he rarley stops anyone.Brute wrote:And yet Hopkins is rated no 1 light heavyweight in the world by Boxrec.thunderfromdownunder wrote:you said that regerding hopkind - jones as well.Brute wrote:Green KOed Jones the year after Jones went the distance with Calzaghe.

Haha. You know "prime". It generally means your at the top of your game. If you seriously think that the Jones that green fought was the same guy who unified the 175 division then you are seriously mistaken.Brute wrote:That would be a first. Green has never been KOed. Never heard a boxer use the expression. "Prime" is usually used for steak.thunderfromdownunder wrote:Haha. You know "prime". It generally means your at the top of your game. That's right no disrespect to Green but his not in the same league as calzagescottearley123456 wrote:thunderfromdownunder wrote:i agree. Green v johnson would have been great. I know it will never happen now, but green v froch at 175 would be a cracker imojezzamundo wrote:I think Green is most comfortable at "Dannyweight", I believe his natural walking weight is generally about 190lb and he said before his mini-retirement that he still had to drain a lot to make 175lb. He could certainly still make that weight now, but I just don't think he wants to.
What really disappoints me is that had Green stayed at 175lb, not retired, defended his WBA belt and looked to unify - he could be a true great by now, as I believe he would have given Johnson, Tarver, Erdei and Woods a good fight and possibly beaten all of them.
green calzage would have been good too =)
Hopkins probably is the number 1 light heavy in the worldBrute wrote:And yet Hopkins is rated no 1 light heavyweight in the world by Boxrec.thunderfromdownunder wrote:you said that regerding hopkind - jones as well.Brute wrote:Green KOed Jones the year after Jones went the distance with Calzaghe.

So Oscar De La Hoya was a bum? He was WBO middleweight champion when he fought Hopkins. He won world titles from Super Featherweight to Middleweight.thunderfromdownunder wrote:you said that regerding hopkind - jones as well.Brute wrote:Green KOed Jones the year after Jones went the distance with Calzaghe.
