Mate the Ingle style can be fun to watch but ultimately flawed to the point where his (Brendan's)defensive style will do more damge to the boxers in the long run.
Ask ANY reputable trainer about Hamed's style and they will say the same.
Kell Brook is funny to watch as he has a smidgen of conventional boxing about his style but not the supernatural of the little Arab
Remeber said this Kell Brook is going to get BRUTALY KTFO because of this flawed style.
Totally disagree mate.
Ask any 'reputable trainer' that Brendan's style is flawed? What, any trainer apart from Brendan himself - three world champions, five euro champs and countless british champs? How many other trainers can match that? Especially considering that the Ingles take 90% of their fighters all the way through from being 10 - 11yrs, not simply picking up already ood amateurs.
The style is not flawed - it's not perfect but no style ever could be. I'd say Brendan has probably been the most successful British and European trainer in his lifetime. He knows his stuff mate, and so do his sons and so do other good trainers like Dave COldwell and Chris Smedley who both learnt a lot from BRendan.
I dont think Kell will get - as you so violently and gleefully suggest - knocked the f**k out. We'll see but i tend to think it's more likely that he'll be the one knocking out some nice, orthodox kid with a 'textbook' high guard and all the rest of it ...
Dan Dan Dan,
I'n not interested in what Brendan achievies as his style aint good enough to stay on top on the WORLD stage.
.
Sorry, say that again? Surely it's all about results and BRendan and his sons have got results consistently for 30 years. What else matters?
Oh, i know what else matters. Walking away from the sport with your nose and face in proper condition and not slurring your words. The Ingles are pretty good at too as there is only pretty limited open sparring and their kids VERY rarely get a pasting.
By the way, when you talk about the 'Ingle style', what exactly are you referring to? Interested to know.

The Ingle system has systematic flaws and has positive skill sets, both to practice and to spot in an opponent. An Ingle trained boxer will not get hurt in the gym (by excessive head shots in sparring) and will have encountered an array of different boxing styles, at many gyms everyone is 'taught' the same.
The lines and blows skill set that is taught, from beginner to amateur to professional to champion reinforces coordination, balance and technique.
There are only a limited number of highly coordinated and athletic minded men to take on board the 'Ingle sytem'.
There have been many boxers who have kept the basic elements of their boxing style and had their effectiveness enhanced by training at Wincobank.
There have been few top flight (World Title) boxers from the Ingle sysyem but Hamed never boxed as a senior amateur and (really) did magnificent until he ceased listening to his trainer, Johnny Nelson was not a naturally gifted boxer, losing many as an amateur and learner pro. It was to his credit that he stuck with the Ingle program, improved and he did become a standout boxer. Junior Witter was not a brilliant amateur and many say that Ricky Hatton avoided him.
I'll not get started on Herol Graham as he is a hero to me.
I know ex professional boxers who trained at Wincobank and they've nothing but good things to say about their time there; (Dominic is a bit difficult to get along with though (apparently))
dominic a knob simon
have to stick up for Dom here, who is a very good mate of mine. yes he can come across as a bit surly but that's just his demeanour - he is a top fella, honest and will go out of his to help you. He is also very funny when you get to know him. Admittedly, he doesnt suffer fools at all and he wont have time wasters. I can also vouch for the fact that his fighters absoltely love him (Kell included). They know that if they listen, train hard and live right Dom will match that effort for them and give them as much time as possible, regardless of their ability. He actually has them round his house at 6am so he can sort their breakfast out so he knows they're doing it right! They kind of effort and loyalty goes a long way with fighters.
I also think he is a top, top trainer and when richie towers and barry kid galahad awad start coming through then people will give him credit in his own right. brendan tells me he wishes he had a fraction of dom's knowledge re nutrition, diet, making weight, conditioning and weight training - brendan believes if he had been in possession of that expertise then Bomber would have been unbeateable. Interesting stuff ...

First of all i don't "claim" anything I point out facts.
1 please do not misquote me it only looks bad for you, If you read back to what i had actually written i said "stay ON TOP on the WORLD stage" No Ingle fighter had ever done this, the only time Naz tried against a future HOF in his prime he failed, like I said if he hung around he would have got chinned quite a few times.
Johnny Nelson never won at the REAL world level, anyone who understands boxing will understand what I have written.
2 Manny Stewart has trained a shit load of ATG's (Hearns, Lewis, Holy, Moorer, Cotto,..etc etc).. Brendan Ingle has not and will probably never seeing as he's sort of retired. BTW no one in the USA knows what an MBE is, besides Brenden was awared it only the great work he does with the kids not for boxing, the palace are hardly the best judges of a trainers skill'sett are they?
So dont even try mention them in the same breath as they are as far apart as you can get.
3
"glorify in the fact that Kell will get brutally KO'd" no I dont but yes he will. (see Errol Grham V Jackson, now shut it) and when he does i will be here and you probably will be lurking/hiding somewhere.
4 Any British trainer wouldnt comment on Brendens unique style out of respect (whereas I'm simply a fan so I can.) however If you put a gun to their heads and forced them to tell you why THEY dont teach Brendan's uniqe & amazing style you might not get the answer you were looking for.
5

I feel the need to point out that Brendan Ingle trained his world title holders and top contenders from being amateurs and took them all the way through to the top. Of the all time great boxers you listed as being trained by Steward only Hearns and Moorer were Kronk reared, (and Moorer joined Kronk after winning the US national amateur title as a middleweight). To be frank; Steward and other top US trainers have an advantage over their British counterparts; the amateurs are allowed/encouraged to train and spar with professionals, in the UK they are not.

What a joker and what a pointless argument you have made, Jon. It is very easy to find a negative link to anything, but you really are up against it here. It's akin to listening to a prime Maria Callas (one of the World's great opera singers) sing and saying she is not up to much, and will get found out in certain roles, whilst everyone else (with knowledge) is just embarrassed for the person making those comments that are so, so wide off the mark.
If you want to beleive that Brendan and the Ingle team aren't up to much, fine, but bearing in mine that they have taken fighters from a 7 year old beginer right up to world title level, and have won every award possible from University Amateur Champion, to ABA Champion right up to World Professional Champion, your comments make you look faintly rediculous and that you have an agenda.
As far as predicting that Kell will get brutally knocked out, again, this is very easy to predict that a boxer might get beat at some point in his career. The reality is, he will win a lot more than he loses because he is a well trained, class act, who can box and fight.I am sure that I am also not alone in finding it distateful that you wish someone to be brutally knocked out.

I am up against nothing and I am not laughing in fact I'm in my element with your rubbish post(s).
1 Is English your first language? If so then why could'nt you see the words that I typed when I said "I hope I'm proved wrong" in referance to Kell Brooke gettig Ko'ed? maybe your eyes are playing up?
2 Are you even a real fan? don't you like brutal ko's?? what the hell are you on about?? man I love to see Jullian Jackson, or Jimmy Thunder's (v Crawford Grimsley) BRUTAL ko's, man I could watch that shit all day long, in fact this is what i love about boxing, that said when Brook is fighting for a title i wil be supporting him but I just cant help seeing in advance him doing an 'Errol Graham' and lying asleep on the deck. for heavens sake man he hasbt even faced ANY serious pressure situations yet
If you dont like the harsh side of the sport maybe you should be on a tiddleywinks forum?
3 He's not well trained, if he was he would not be a ko victim in waiting, just you wait and see mate, and when it happens i wil be taking note of all your names and reminding you all accordingly.
4 I think the Ingles are GREAT domestic trainers and i love watching their tricky fighters playing cat and mouse with bewildered domestic oppostion BUT i also love watching therm all getting dropped like a sackof spuds by a well schooled world class fighter (Pele Reid V Orlin Norris, Witter v Bradley, Naz V Sanchez, Graham V Jackson, i could go on..)
that said the fact still remains that the Ingle style is hugley flawed and always falls short at REAL world class.
I beleive the whole body shot sparring thing is exactly the problem, it seems like all the Ingle fighters pacnic when they get hit,(kinda like Audley Harrison) I guess if you spend ages avoiding punchesc it must be a huge suprise when you get really clocked, which is going to happen to Kell Brook, I can see a real fighter really busting him up and him not even having the simple fundamentals to get out of trouble once hurt.
Shane Mosley did 1000's of rounds sparring using only body shots but also he did the same in reverse I think that the
Ingle's should learn from someone like Mosley.

Hi Simon, you are a smart poster, I thought you would pick up on these point, hence me leaving out (Helmer Kinty & Dwain Thomas) the other fighter that Steward brough trough from the ground up, (he even briefly trained SRL BTW)
My take on this is simple, it's not about how hard you work its about what you deliver.
I think that outwith his fanstic work in the US amatuer system that Many steward is head hunted for a reason and the reason is that he's the best profesional trainer in the world and i think in time he might even be see to be the equal of Eddie Futch.
Brenda has took any of his fighters "al the way to the top" the top is unified baby and the Ingles fighters are all mearly belt holders IMO, they never fight the very best, when they get near they fall short.

Like i said the ONLY thing that matters is results and he has never trained a true ATG or HOF like say ;Calzaghe' and mate "most successfull" does not equate to 'best' trainer in the country (and again I will reiterate) he was never head hunted for a reason nor does his style work at 'Elite' world level.
I like like most watching Ingle fighters however come on!! like Naz and Steward were a match made in heaven lol come one.
Who could have fixed years of ingrained flaws in such a short time? A= no one, Naz was on the slide by then ans also listening to no one.

Seriously these are all simple facts that most people who understand this sport already know of.
I'm not on this forum to brown nose UK fighters or trainers, I don't know anyone in British boxing, I'm here as a fan to debate boxing however If some can't handle the truth when it is backed up with factual evidence then what can ya do?

Mate I really hope you are right, I was watching Naz V Sanchez, Kelly, Ingle this morning and I had forgot how much excitment Naz brought to the table.
Kell looks and talks a bit like a big version of Naz and I trully with he was the goods but I have this feeling that he is going to get the Errol Graham treatment fron a Cotto or someone of this ilk.
I'm not even sure he is anywhere near Junior Witter's level.
Would it be great if he turned out to be the real deal? I just think that if it was Naz (a large Naz i mean) against Michael Jennings he would have dont a 'Billy Hardie' on him.
World class fighters usualy destroy domestic oposition.
Kind of like when they put poor Paul Loyd in with Barrera.

No I'm a frustrated porn star with tissues.
The Ingle style is very effective when practised by a talented and experienced boxer. I feel the main thing it offers; though having never trained there; is that the boxers are taught to switch hit and behave less predictably, to pose different questions of their opponents.
Herol Graham was one of my heroes; he was so very entertaining and watching him box was just fantastic. The knockout by Julian Jackson was a magnificent punch, one for the ages, but Julian did that to many men. It took him less than a second to finish a fight.
There is no perfect style; boxing is a science and an art and allows for personal expression. The Ingle style has advantages and has detrimental aspects. A capable performer can box their way to the top and entertain on the way. A hall of fame or all time great fighter needs many other things to come together, not only the style in which they box.

OK let's look at it this way,
Ali always leaned back with his head up (as Henry Cooper) but he had the chin and the reflex's to get away with it.
Roy Jones was the same untill he bacame shot after the weight loss from HW to LH.
The special ones get away with it at the highest level and the Ingle's havent produced an ATG like Calzaghe.
I would just lke to point out that at one point i titally bought into the ingle style, I trully thought that he had discoverd the secret key to a new style that the USA wouldnt be able to deal with, I thought Pelie Reid might actually do something (he did KO Vitali Klitchko after all) AND I still think witter would have beaten Hatton..a fighter who should never even dreamed of blagging a true Legand like Tommy Hearn's nickname. I always cringed when they announced "Hitman" as he wasnt even a puncher.
To me the Ingle style is like this..against domestic opsition or Euro fighters who arent aware of the Ingle style you look trully mega BUT against the elite you get found out to be little more than a common pick pocket.
