Y'know Auto, we don't always see eye-to-eye, but that needs to be written in ten-mile high letters of fire in the sky. Is PW with Al Haymon or does he just own nekkid photos of the HBO top brass or summink?

yes, PW is with al haymon, so he gets on HBO.

probably appropriate, in a perverse way, that they'd push for him to fight martinez (again), with martinez being promoted by lou dibella, a guy who basically gets good talent on HBO.

anyway, arum's saying barker or manfredo are the frontrunners to fight chavez jr.

rubio also wants chavez jr, so it seems no one is queueing up to fight martinez.

Chavez Jr is far more suitable for Darren IMO. Must admit, I see very little to get excited about in JCC's boy, strikes me as a beatable champion with a good name — a launchpad for bigger, better fights, such as Martinez.

i don't think HBO would have gone with barker, as talented and promising as he is. is he even ranked in ring mag's top 10?

but if he can beat chavez jr, a definite crowd-pleaser after battles with duddy and zbik, that could give martinez a good challenger. problem for martinez is he needs an opponent for october. rubio, perhaps? williams yet again? that's the problem for martinez, his career is completely taken control of by HBO, who wouldn't let him have the fight (zbik) that would've kept him his title. one brilliant win over agood fighter (dzinziruk) and martinez seems to be on the outside looking in of the division he's the true champ of.

barker surely has the beating of chavez jr. would be a nice opportunity and a great career kickstart for a fighter who's seemed to have lost momentum.

Going back to the initial post, DiBella, Martinez and Barker all tweeting last couple of hours about getting this fight on for 1st October. Hearn (whether he is referring to Barker, but I'd guess he is) suggests he has 2 offers for title fights.
