So how many tickets has Eddie told DiBella that barker is going to sell, Barker only done about 500 for his last fight and I cannot see all of them spending the money and making the trip to America. I feel DiBella is in for a right shock.

Martinez is all wrong for him. Far too quick and unorthadox for a technical boxer with as little world class experience as Barker.
He might do well enough to see spurts of success, enough to win a few rounds, maybe, in the long run it won't matter though. Dzinziruk was boxing beautifully at times but it's just not enough. Without serious stopping power, a straightforward boxer's going to come up short against a multifaceted phenom like Martinez.
That said, I think McEwan would be about as perfect a sparring partner as you could ask for in preparation for Martinez. Lot of similarites between those two. If Barker could wrangle that, he'd at least be setting himself up on as firm a foundation as he can.

boxrec doesn't have martinez listed as holding a title.
he beat williams for the wbc strap then chaves jr won it from someone else 6 months later. what am i missing here???

if lee can add something to the impressive ending vs mcewan (on the upside, it was a dramatic fight), i reckon he will be challenging martinez soon. obviously martinez wants chavez jr pretty urgently, because chavez now has martinez's title, and chavez jr is also a good ticket seller (and probably gets good ratings on TV) to boot.
the HBO commentators did not seem impressed at all vs lee, in the mcewan fight, and didn't seem to take him seriously as potential a challenger to martinez.

Was told that HBO has approved Darren Barker as the opponent for @maravillabox on Oct. 1. But HBO and @loudibella still haggling over $$.

obviously they have insisted on the best and sergio has produced amazing performances. good that he's been allowed a one-off, vs a name of interest to us british posters.
i think martinez'll be fighting europeans the rest of his career. dzinziruk fight has set the path. sergio will never get a ratings darling like alvarez or chavez jr, or a PPV star like mayweather or pac. - his legacy will be that he took on the best of america (pavlik, williams, cintron) AND europe (dzinziruk, and so on...), a true world champ. provided he keeps on winning.
golovkin has been training in america, comes off an exciting win over ouma & has the amateur pedigree - and a fraction of one of the world titles. pirog won a title impressively on HBO and wants martinez. if WBA-holder sturm beats macklin as expected, sturm has talked of his wish to impress the US fans and take on martinez in the states...if macklin beats sturm, that's another interesting name capable of getting HBO's approval.
