You are chosing to ignore the facts where Klitschko vs Peter II is concerned and are sticking to being a Haye nuthugger, plus I don't see how the division will be magically better if Haye wins, given that he's got his heart set on retirement. You'd just see Wlad in a fight for a vacated title and the dominance would re-commence.
Your talking out of your arse as usual.

He beat Mormeck you dummy so why give him a rematch?
Haye would have beat Thompson with ease in a rematch, if you cant see this then you dont know this game.

As for Klit? Sanders would have chinned him again and Brewster 'might' have also done the same if it was within a year or so of the original.
So get the fuk outa here with that biased shite you write.
I'm playing devil's advocate, fool.

It just seems that in this thread anyone who tries to make a constructive argument for not being a Haye flagwaver is being ridiculed, or accused of being biased.

"devil's advocate," = Biased shitty writing?

I knew a lot of people who had no clue about boxing who came up to me and started asking about the Valuev fight. A lot of casual punters were into that and were well behind Haye.

It's the same story for this fight only bigger. I've got mates who couldn't give a sh*t about boxing coming down the pub to watch it, genuinely excited. Everyone's behind Haye. Nobody I know wants Wladamir to win. If England were in the world cup final against Germany, loads of non football fans would be out watching it (including me.) This is almost the same. England V Germany (I know Wlad's Ukranian but he fights out of Germany doesn't he?) title fight for UNDISPUTED HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD. It's cooler than winning the Rugby world cup isn't it? Trust me, loads of people are behind Haye and if he wins they could sell out Wembley Stadium several times over for the Vitali fight which would be absolutely massive and would almost sell itself.

I've been a massive Haye fan since he KO'd Mormeck and was at both the Maccarinelli and Barrett fights. I was really annoyed with him for a while for taking the Audley fight when he should have at least fought Adamek, Povetkin or Chagaev but he made a lot of money for it and the fight we all wanted is coming now anyway.

If he loses people go back to their lives. But if he wins, I guarantee he becomes a national hero, sporting icon, wins sports personality of the year (If he somehow wins and beats Vitali as well- big ask- he's a LOCK to win it) and everyone will know and love him. It'll be front page news, especially if he gets the KO.

God I hope he wins.

maybe its not so much a knock against haye personally - as a knock against boxing in this country in general, that the vast majority of people aren`t fully aware of when the fight is actually happening?

There again. I guess some fella who has been following boxing since 2009 onwards will be able to give us a better more informed answer ..
Eh? What so because someone came on Boxrec Forums in 2009, that automatically means they've been following boxing since 2009? Small universe eh.

I support boxing no matter what nationality a fighter is.
The fact that haye is british makes no odds to me i still think Wlad beats him.
i'm not keen on hayes stupid schoolboy antics he just sounds like a 12 year old to me and it has put me off him a lot, but on the whole if they are a good fighter then im a fan.
Haye just needs to shut the eff up.

He's far from my favourite to watch, but he conducts himself with class and is an excellent role model for boxing. He is the consumnate professional, always in great shape.

Haye hasn't had half the career Wlad has yet, and whilst his fights may be explosive, he's yet to beat anyone to suggest he's the man at heavyweight.

In addition Haye has stated he will retire after this fight, so how will that help the division?

All of these things may be true but at the same time he isn't quite the Boxing role model you make him out to be.

This is a man who avoided rematching Brewster untill he was coming back from a 3 year layoff, cynically took advantage of Lamon when he was broke, virtually blind in one eye and couldn't get licensed to fight in most states of America and Britain due to his poor eyesight just so he could say he 'avenged his loss'. This alone leaves a very bad taste in the mouth.

This is a man who together with his brother has put on some of the worst undercards imaginable over the years, screwing the paying public to keep every penny in their pockets.

This is a man who has come up with some of the worst contracts possible(rematch me then rematch my brother then rematch me again, then rematch my brother etc etc till one of us beats you)

He's lost 3 times. I don't get the Wlad love-in that some people seem to have got lost in.

But for the fact that I am a massive boxing fan and pretty much consume any boxing I can, I would have switched his last 4 fights off halfway through, he is THAT awful to watch.

The ending of Wlad's fights usually bring about a mix of disappointment and relief in me. Disappointed that he can't seem to entertain people, relief that the borefest is finally over. I always watch in the hope that he might be a little bit more exciting, that he might find a real live opponent one day than meeting fatties from America, but in fact he is getting less exciting with age as he takes less and less chances and just grinds people down.

Effective yes, but people supporting THAT over David Haye, I don't understand at all. So he's come over and done a charm offensive and Haye is playing the bad guy, so what, he's a stiff, robotic, dull fighter - THAT is how I judge fighters, it's an entertainment business after all.

Inaccurate to say Wlad killed the division though, he can only beat what's out there and I don't think he's ducked anyone. Not his fault the big Americans now channel into easier but lucrative sports.
Also not accurate to still term Haye the future of heavyweight boxing. Immediate future, yes, but by his own reckoning the future ends this year.
If Haye beats both brothers and then retires, Wlad and Vitali will still be the men to beat - and presently I can't see anyone who might do that, Haye aside.
well hopefully we can get to the end of this k2 era, because it has been terribly dull. i don't like their "bean counter", minimal risk style, i despise wlad's habit of holding and then turning his back on the opponent, and because they are promoters as well as boxers, it seems hard for other fighters to do deals with them. if someone like haye wins the main titles, maybe some of the other contenders will step up, get in shape and suddenly show some urgency - povetkin, boytsov, etc (there are some talented offensive fighters up at heavyweight) - if the jab and grab giant has been busted up.

that said, haye will look terribly stupid after all his antics if he does not win.

wlad does conduct himself with class. and haye does act like an idiot. but being classy does not necessarily do good things for the heavyweight division.

wlad has been in some dreadful fights. remember him clutching a challenger (tony thompson), before falling on him, damaging the guy's leg? wlad then had to put up with even less resistence than usual, and still did only the minimum. or when he had peter battered and powerless, in the rematch? wlad looked frightened of finishing him. or the big unification with ibragimov? a fencing match vs someone much smaller lacking a powerful punch?

i'm sick of these bleeding fencing matches & just hope haye can land the big punch, early on.

wlad's not been willing to take risks in there, and i think this is the main mark against him, from being regarded as agreat heavyweight. a successful fighter, sure, but one for the germans, who will clap so long as their boy is winning.

I agree Wlad is boring, but over the years, i've gone from downright hating his ass, to apathy, to something approaching admiration. He's rebuilt himself after some devastating losses, and all in all, his career is a very good one, he's had one less fight than Ali had in his entire career already. He's a lot more active than most champs these days, and you cannot blame him that division is piss poor.

I much prefer Vitali though, the guy's a badass, his style is similar to Wlad's but a bit more viscious. He's slowing a bit now, but he used to throw a hell of a lot of punches in there.

Haye is a ballsy guy, and has an explosive style, but I've never really taken to him. I guess it's the badmouthing, and the kind of flash that doesn't grab me. It's a matter of personal taste. He and booth have done very well to get where they have, it's been a real masterstroke in promotion/management.

If you combine wlad and Vitali, you'd have a hell of a fighter.

Can someone point me in the direction of this "excitement" and "power" that Haye has been bringing to the heavyweight division since he moved up? I don't really have anything against Haye (with the exception of a few of his most distasteful comments - gang rape etc) but I just don't get the perception of:

Wlad = mindnumbingly boring robot who has singlehandedly destroyed the division
Haye = excitement machine who is singlehandedly putting the division back on the map

I would suggest that against opponents that are actually useful, they are probably as boring as each other.

Haye vs Valuev was absolutely PAINFUL viewing. As bad as anything I've sat through that Wlad has produced. It was as if Haye thought the goal of the fight was to run round the outside of the ring as many times as possible not throwing punches was the goal of the fight.

Yes Haye beat a frightened and very limited Fraudley but even the first 2 rounds of that were more boring than watching paint dry.

I really would like to know where all these amazing, devastating performances are that Haye has produced at HW. People are talking about him as if he's the next young Mike Tyson.

I also reckon that if Haye was so exciting and amazing for the HW division, there would actually be some interest in the USA in watching the fight.

To be fair to him, he blasted Ruiz and Barrett. However, both men were pretty past it.

I agree the Valuev fight absolutely stank the joint out. Worse than anything Ive seen from Wlad.

It is being shown for free by HBO because they didn't think there was enough interest in it to make it a pay per view (despite most big fights shown there being ppv). I was also in NY last week (and in the company of boxing fans) and no-one seemed that bothered about it. I fully accept that is anecdotal evidence though.

I just didn't really hear anything about it over there and didn't see much interest in it. It reminds me a bit of some other fights involving British fighters where our media tells us its the biggest event ever but in other countries they dont seem too interested.

This thread has got to be the closest the British & Irish forum has been to the CS for a while.

I like Wlad, I still went over to watch the Chagaev fight after the fight fell apart the last time and was impressed with pretty much everything (barring the undercard which was terrible). He is a likeable guy, who whilst being boring in the majority of his fights since losing to Brewster, is still fighting the best of the bad bunch that is out there.

But I'll be cheering on Haye. Known of him as an amateur, catching a few fights along the way. Watched him make his debut on the BBC and then go on a run of knockout victories all on terrestrial TV before running into Thompson (literally). Then he pretty much goes straight in with the Euro champ afterwards and stops him in one, makes some good defences against a couple of guys who can test him. Wins the title in Paris after being out on his feet and then takes part in a massive unification against a domestic rival and wipes the floor with him. To this point he has only had one less that exciting fight.

Sure, he has done more talking than anything else as a heavyweight and he hasn't always looked as good as he has. But he is still getting people talking, still doing things his own way and this weekend has the chance to be heavyweight champ of the world.

Yeah I like him because he is British and I'm not really a fan of people who get a bit snobbish over this concept. We get exposed to them more, see more of their fights live, and feel connected to them in a way which is probably mostly imaginary but for me is still there.

And whoever your casual fan mates or work colleagues are cheering on before the fight, should Haye win then I reckon the majority will be happy and if they're not, I sure Haye won't care providing they have spend their £15

Whoever ends up as champ, Haye, Wlad or Vitali, they would all be top man in a dead division rammed with average contenders. Wlad's style can't be blamed for the fact that the rest of the division is so poor. America has no interest because it has no heavyweights.
It would be more interesting if Haye was champ because his style makes him 'easier to beat', but only by the same dreadful bunch the Ks have been beating because there's nothing else out there. Would a champ who stands more chance of losing vs these same challengers make the division better? In entertainment value yes, not in quality though. It's a bit ironic to say the division would improve for having a more beatable champ than Wlad. Jameel
McCline and Tony Thompson wouldn't suddenly become quality contenders if Haye wins.

Jameel
McCline and Tony Thompson wouldn't suddenly become quality contenders if Haye wins.
i have to disagree with that bit Glyn thompson is a quality operator, hes probably the best of the rest after haye and the klitschkos just age is a factor and he wont be around much longer, if he was 10 years younger people would be loving this guy but his loss to klitschko wasn't as bad as some and he's been sparring klitschko hopefully that will give him confidence if they fight again, then again he may keep the sparring partner mentality and lose badly :(

we'll see who getd the support on sat night.
x 2 anyone else here with a group of friends who arent supporting the british fighter apart from the keyboard warriors?.

I've got a group of friends who support germany against england in the world cup, because they think the English players are all big heads, falanderers and over paid playboys. - Of course i dont i just made that up along with some of the reasons suddenly people dont like haye.

I'd like to know how many of these people who really believe haye is disliked have actually been to one of his fights. Fighters that are disliked dont sell out arenas with 23 thousand cheering fans or take 10 thousand fans with them to germany!

If you support boxing you support haye !! simple as, what does the sport gain from wlad winning?

i'll be supporting haye though saying that as i like haye but i've always enjoyed watching the klitschkos
