All the talk of the gameplan etc was nonsense, deep down Haye believed he would knock out Wladimir and that is never a good mindset. There needed to be a plan B and I don't think he showed versatility.
He needed to take a few risks early on, with Wlad moving forward. Hold his ground, slip the jab (easier said then done, of course) as Wlad moved in and counter with a few stinging shots, to get Wlad's attention. He did it ( a bit) in the last round, held his ground and slipped the jab and fired back but by then it was way, way too late.
He moved away, backed off and with Wlad easily matching him for speed at that range After 2 rounds of watching Haye wing and Wlad simply step back, a couple of paces, I knew then it didn't look good.
Fight to get the centre of the ring, that was the key, but he gave that to Wlad, by simply moving away.
Credit to Wlad, he couldn't really get his jab going until late on, but he stuck to it, forced the fight and dictated the range and usually those guys win the fight.
Staying in firing range or ' in the pocket ', sure Haye ran the risk of getting hit and possibly dropped etc...but he would have done a lot more damage had he done that. The Haye of old, would have go for it and that's probably the most disappointing thing, in all honesty. He would have gone for it.

Haye and booth definitely underestimated Wlads effectiveness. They thought just turning up in shape was going to do the job. He wasn't able to take wlad out of his comfort zone. I think in the end he just got frustrated. I do not buy into the whole "toe gate". But a lot of top level sport is in the mind. So if he was less than 100% it was never going to be anything but a wlad shut out. If he broke his toe 3 weeks ago, then it was 3 weeks without the preparation needed to beat a solid champion like wlad. The pre fight talk was to sell the fight. But I think Haye will be badly affected by his "non event".
Unless he gets a rematch or fights the other brother, he will just retire. He won't want to go back to cruiser or fighting domestically. He has been at the top table, so is not going to want to go back eating at burger king.

Like to fight tall - I've said it for years. Struggles with bigger guys cause he is a natural counter puncher. His arms out guard is a basic thing that big guys do against smaller guys, it doesn't work so effectively the other way around.

Well it wasn’t as disappointing as Solis vs Vitali.
Haye wasn’t strong enough to push Vlad back.
Vlads superior height prevented Haye from landing anything other than glancing blows.
Haye has never had the best of stamina so throwing lots of punches was always out of the question.
In short, a good big one always beats a good small one, case in point - Saturday night.
To be fair to David how many ex cruiserweight champions would have lasted the distance with the world heavyweight champion? Adamek sure as hell won’t manage it.
Also though I do believe David had a broken toe, I doubt it would have made too much of a difference to the outcome.
Should a rematch occur (and due to the state of the division it’s not beyond the realms of possibility) David would be better suited to bulking up and trying to take the fight to Vlad, it would probably end with him being knocked out but the fight would be more fun & he would have a better chance of landing the knockout blow.

Adamek is a bulked up Light Heavy, not even a natural cruiser - so he is at a further disadvantage. I would love to see Adamek vs Haye.

Haye will fight again he doesn't want to remembered on his last fight. The average joe will remember haye on his last fight rather than what he has accomplished before that. He needs to fight Klitschko again, if he goes out on his shield and loses then it wasn't meant to be.

no, stu, i don't agree. he was struggling at 175 to make the weight- in ring weights of 185lbs fighting at lightheavyweight wouldn't suggest he was a bulked-up lightheavy at all- and was a decent-sized cruiser pretty much as soon as he got there.
i'll tell you an undersized cruiser, that fella Maccarenelli beat over 12 rounds, whatsisname? yeah, him.

Its going to be a tough sell though. He can't take the "I'm going decapitate you" and not shaking Wlads hand route again.

Dont think David (The Toe) Haye deserves a rematch
the man is a disgrace to boxing
He should fight the winner of Fury v Chisora and go from there.
You're an idiot.
So David Haye talked the talk to sell pre fight tickets did he bless him.
Oh so that makes it ok for him to say disgusting things like go visit your brother in hospital. I cant wait to see his feet twitching on the canvas and so on.
Sorry but I just think this sort of trash talk is bad for the sport of boxing and you think that's ok
then your the idiot pal.

Wayne Braithwaite?
Can see your point, although I feel his performances at Light heavy - in 12 rounds tough contests didn't suggest he was tight at Light Heavy. He certainly natually smaller than Haye.

Agree,
Look at him technically, what does he do? Not much!
Smash and out again. He won't stay around unless he gets a rematch or Vitali because he knows he is not up to it.
He beat Enzo and Mormeck at cruiserweight and they were either chinny or previously knocked out.
Steve Cunningham is a better all round fighter, but he did not face him.
Haye always was a decent heavy and thats it. Good luck to him, but he is exactly as Audley said, a false Prophet.

Haye was outclassed, pure and simple. Wlad had the perfect game plan, as soon as Haye stepped forward Wlad stepped back, taking the power out of Haye's punch and forcing Haye to leap in throwing himself off balance. What surprised me was Haye continued this throughout the fight, he didn't try anything new and after 3 rounds it was clear to me Wlad was going to win one way or another.
Haye didn't throw enough punches and looked to be looking for one big punch. I'm no Klitchsko fan but you have to give it to them, they are good at what they do and are hard to beat.
Haye could fight them 10 times in a row and lose everytime in my opinion.
Not sure where Haye can go now, he doesn't have any belts and the Klitschkos are the only BIG names in the division. He cold fight the likes of Chisora or Fury but would anyone be that interested?
The problem Haye has he has set his future out already, its clear he wants out of boxing so at the most even if he fights on its only going to be for a year at the most. How many fights can he have in one year, 2 maybe?
I wish he didn't go on about his little toe, I can't believe it would have made any difference to the fight. I think he has now realised this and seems to be playing his toe down. What also surprised me was Booth previously said Haye was a natural heavyweight, he struggled to get down to cruiserweight and heavyweight was his best division, yet after the fight he said Haye was a cruiserweight, you can't have it both ways.

Haye landed better punchers than most of the other guys Wlad has fought of late, and he managed in the build out to get Wlad to come forward and fight for a change. He also showed that Wlad can be hurt still. i thought dropping to the map was a better method of avoiding Wlad's mauling draining lean on you strategy than any other I have seen as well.
I enjoyed the fight, and would enjoy a rematch.

Also, I did genuinely think the way Haye was made to go through the crowd was a shameful display of abusing home advantage.
