Bannatyne has slightly more money than me at this point, I'm in I.P. Music Publishing, Promotions.
Though I have had the option to appear in a similar show.

Actually thinking about it, it's actually 4, I forgot about my property company.

Last year my company I did one of the biggest I.P. deals in history with the biggest owners of IP in the world, that will now run into perpetuity. The deal took two years for me to personally negotiate.

BTW the reason I'm on the forum so much at the mo is twofold, I snapped the tendon on my foot 6 weeks ago and I also got some bad(ish) medical news and I am awaiting some test results whilst resting at home and talking shite online whilst playing fight night champ.
So it would be fair to say you're a Millionaire? you may just be the richest poster on Boxrec!
I was first one at 21 but I then spent it all on fast women and slow horses and huge amounts of drugs.

Got it all back twice since thank fornicate;-)

What do you mean by this, i take it your real name isn't Jon Saxon? isn't that the name of the actor in Enter the Dragon who played 'Mr Roper'.

Correct.

Let me give you two examples,

Random guy I knew from school called me once (don't know how he got my number btw) and says "great to speak to you again..(when then had a nice trip down memory lane) and then at the end of the call he said out of the blue "would you like to buy my house?"...wank!

I was selling one of my houses once and this Posrche pulls up and this bird gets out with her man and I proceed to show them around they look around the rooms but she keeps giving me this kinda creepy smile and not actually looking in the rooms.
At the end of the showing she turns to me and says "i thought it was your house"
I felt kinda violated knowing that she was in my house giving me the creeps.

Also I have had far worse experiences that I wont talk about on here.

charlieb wrote:Chin up Jon. If you can't talk frankly about your take on things then what's the point?

Your bit about Rhodes performance is a valid enough take on the situation, it's just the delivery that's causing problems. To me, that's the difference between someone who's just being a c*nt for the sake of being c*nty and someone who has a point but lacks diplomacy or just can't be arsed sugarcoating it.

If you'd have just said Rhodes didn't perform in a manner befitting the occassion, i.e a last roll of the dice at elite level which he'd toiled for years to bring about. I don't think there'd be as much fuss, even though you're essentially covering the same ground by condensing the situation into a statement like 'he bottled it'. This isn't Ryan's local, it's not his mum's front room, it's a bloody forum for frank and open discussion. While the majority of us who share that opinion, spared adding insult to injury, it doesn't change the fact that we were thinking it.

On another note, the idea that someone doesn't belong here if they aren't prepared to dually express what they've posted, 'in the flesh', is daft. You're trying to justify the silencing of opinion by virtue of the threat of violence. Fair enough, there has to be some sort of line drawn in the sand, if someone turns up and post #1 consists of them venting spleen, riding an agenda, then it's probably not going to hurt the bigger picture by cutting them loose. However, I'd much rather be in an environment that tolerates the likes of Jon and allows others to entertain the idea that they can say what they really think about aspects of a sport they love without getting caught up in this 'you've never boxed so you don't count' bollocks.

I'd rather be my own censor and let the mods take care of the obvious trolls, than have this place turn into an industry circle jerk. The idea of a separate trade section won't work imo because it's a two-way street for a lot of the 'names' who post here. Do you honestly think Jeff would've gotten his crack at Prizefighter or Tony his last minute shot at Cleverly had they not been mixing with the masses? I'm sure they've had to swallow a fair amount of stick along the way, but their choice to engage with boxing fans means that we know them (to a degree) and when their voice needs to be heard, they'll have hundreds, maybe thousands of voices amplifying their own.

So, in summary, keep on keepin' on Jon, we don't all hate you.

Thanks mate this was a very fair well written and kindly post :TU:

All good points.
Pubs are a bit like forums. Every pub has 'cobblers corner', and Saxon does a great job of occupying its equivalent on here.

I wholeheartedly agree with the boring, self absorbed bit, which is pretty much fact. As for the w*nker bit, thats more of an opinion, which is what forums are all about.

No I'm fine but I am percieved to be psychopathic & sociapahthic and have strong rage issues by some, the reason? I dont blink often (i.e Im a mad starer) and was voted best friend to call if you have a dead body to get rid of by my mates (I'm serious btw) which I did find to be odd!

In all truth I'm just a very driven happy family man who loves this heartbreaking sport, nothing more.

In all truth I'm the least type of crybaby man you would meet, I came up from a world of pain & hurt but I don't wear it like a badge for life if you see what i mean.

I don't post often on here but have been a daily visitor for eight years, I've followed this Jon Saxon / Cakes thing over the past week with a combination of fascination and horror, no disrespect meant to Jon but am I the only one who finds it hard to picture the person writing his posts as really being a self made millionaire, an MD of four companies, who "comes from a world of pain", and who thinks himself a real life Iron Man (Tony Stark) ? I mean, if you heard somebody talking about themselves like that down the pub, you'd probably smile to yourself and think "he's full of shit".

Maybe its all true but its hard to imagine somebody "from a world of pain" getting so upset about a silly private message on a forum. To get that torn up about it, publicly demand the writer be banned, and then make all these other posts, and get embroiled in other arguments etc, it doesn't ring true with the mental image I would have of the type of bloke who could make millions, run companies, and all the rest of it.

All that said, July and August are always slow months for the sport and these threads have been like driving past a bad accident, you know you shouldn't really look but you can't help it, keep it up Jon at least until Sky's weekly shows return :TU:
