But Appleby - Walsh would have been a fantastic fight on any channel, take that out of the equation and we had a suprisingly good undercard bout that looked likely to be dull on paper, a suprisingly easy win for o'meara and a 60-54 for conquest over rasani! Note to
allegedly there is a reason sky omit these non affairs.
The maths don't add up I'm afraid! There is no way that good quality shows are sustainable and within 12 months I envisage we will be stuck watching some 18-0 prospect vs an Afro bum and paying for the pleasure!
Let's see - hopefully I'm wrong
I'm not the only one thinking that this is just a way for Warren to not be pressured by tv companies into putting his fighters in to competitive contests and pad their records as much as possible.

My expectations of the next 12 months for allegedly are;
First 1-2 months- impressive matches for free. Appleby - Walsh was a sure fire classic and it was a clever match to kick things off in a positive light. certainly capture the interest of the general uk boxing public.
Month 3-6- charges come into play- as an estimate 60-80% go for the subscription on the basis that most weeks there is at least one match of note. Presumably 1-2 big international matches for the hardcore and fwp crossing there fingers and toes that bellow-clev and burns- kats produces credible winners so they can start attempting to flog the channel to pubs etc-
Month 6-9 - allegedly introduces small hall promoters such as Steve wood, fearon. Goodwin etc etc... This brings in new fans as locals part with their hard earned to try and catch their pals in action. The use of these smaller promoters will allow fwp and queensbury to start to pull back a bit on the stiff matchmaking. No doubt the Olympic boxing will make an appearance further fleshing out the content.
Months 10-12- Olympians signed, people no accustomed to paying the £10 fwp returns to his pre allegedly matchmaking policy. Fairly decent fights top the bills as a handful of undercard fighters +1 every week. Things return to 'normal' in terms of match making- and now with an established channel fwp can make whatever fight it sees fit with little or no scrutiny. It's only £10 we'll keep telling ourselves.
That's how I think things will go- I look forward to seeing the numbers allegedly can draw. I think it will do ok actually- is allegedly good for the future of the sport? That's massively debatable. How is it going to bring anyone new to it? With a promoter who is particularly unhappy about criticism then who is going to tell him when something's not going well? Certainly no one on the pay roll and I don't get the impression they will be checking on here once things have began to snowball for the channel.
The days of eubank and benn couldn't be further away as long as this channel exists. All that talent hidden away on a private, non sky cable channel. Nightmarish that my kids won't have a Nigel benn, or anaseem named to look up to.
The balls in sky's court now! I think they should take a really hard line with regards to matchmaking and world tidles now. Let allegedly be the wkd, and try and be champagne. Once again if anyone from the board can put me in touch with rob smith I'd greatly appreciate it- I have a sincerely brilliant idea which will fit in perfectly with this rehaul of uk boxing.
Thanks for reading rant

Bunce is happiest talking to himself. Best line of the night "as Floyd Mayweather told me...."

Really enjoyed tonights show.... I prefered McIntosh to Keys and George Groves and Dean Powell were very good analysers.
Bunce is a unique style and a bit marmite - he did a better job than I thought to be honest. Paul Dempsey did a fab job with the Geale vs Sylvester show on premier.
Thought Billy Schwer was excellent on Sky.
Fantastic night of boxing in Germany - one fantastic fight, one highly controvesial fight, some ding dong knockouts and one very eye catching display.

Freakishly tall.
Ronald McIntosh
I like Ronald, remember him getting a bit of stick on here but he comes across as a top gent.
Glad I'm watching this on a 26" screen, definition looks pish, must be hell on a big screen....
Good old Ron got his chance to commentate on Wimbledon a couple of years back, first ever game he did lasted 11 hours and six minutes
Has been doing boxing for years now

Show came across well, main fight was superb. Walsh came back well and is great entertainment, not sure he's going to have a long career if he keeps getting tagged like that though.
Bit of an upset on the undercard with O'Meara winning against Toms. And as Johnny Greaves has said you looked after the boxers well.
Good start, long road ahead

So we have to pay extra for sky sports, ESPN and now allegedly. We the public are completely ripped off. Does anyone think £10 per month for allegedly on top of all previous is a rip off?

I love it! Brings the sport of boxing a step forwards. Bound to be some teething issues but so far I have been impressed. Loving being able to watch the AIBAs. I hope people get behind it, defo good for boxing. Also brings some competition to other broadcasters so the fighters themselves will end up earning more :-)

When does the new Bunce's Boxing Hour show start on the channel, any idea anyone?
Must admit it was one of my weekly highlights on the box, back in the good ol days of setanta.

Does anyone know if the subs will be direct debit or taken off a credit card/visa? If it's the later i can remember problems with Setanta when it came to the time you wanted to cancel. They would often keep taking money off the card.

Brilliant post and agree with all that Jeff.
The fact that people are now mentioning it could hit Virgin by the end of the year (when subscription kicks in) is an absolute joke

We will be looking to come on here regularly with schedule updates and news regarding forthcoming allegedly events.
Of course, we will also be open to any constructive suggestions and look to answer any questions you have.
Don't forget tonight we have a cracking live fight from Germany between IBF World Cruiserweight Champion Steve Cunningham and Pablo Hernandez
Thanks,

A fairly easy one to answer would be whats happening with virgin?? a lot of interest in the channel generally and after the initial announcement regarding the outlets for allegedly, its gone very very quiet...

Hi,
allegedly are in talks with Virgin and BT Vision at the moment and we expect to be up on both platforms by the end of the year.
Thanks
This is quite a major flaw and i can imagine that many boxing fans on virgin media (like myself) will have grown accustomed to not having it and not bother purchasing it. It will take a very high profile fight for me to purchase it rather than just get it for the odd decent show that might be on.

I hope it works. Problem for me is that I’m with Virgin. So I’ll miss all these early fights Cleverly, Bellew, Burns etc… I feel left out and unwanted!!!!! So I’ll be used to living without allegedly by the time it’s available.
Spare a thought for for us Virgins!

At what point is it going to become a pay only channel? Before or after Cleverly/Bellew?

My guess? Approximately 3 hours before Bellew v Cleverly. If they wait until after then they are reliant on Burns v Katsidis being the fight to attract the paying punters.

How are they making money now they must be racking up big losses. Someoneusy have plenty of capital to find this!
