I was sat in an area with plenty of Scousers and Taffys, pretty much everyone around me had Bellew in a comfortable lead after ten rounds. The Welsh lad next to me said that he felt Cleverly needed a knockout going into the 11th.

I had Tony ahead by a couple, most of the rounds were close and pretty hard to score.... but not to a point where you could have either more than a couple ahead. Five is just daft, typical British officials I'm afraid.

Hopefully we might get the rematch, if not I'd like to see Bellew up at cruiser.

I did say before the fight that Bellew would be best served boxing rather than slugging, and so it proved. In the isolated times where they were brawling he was clearly second best, but he gave Nathan a lesson at times with his jab and footwork, it's to his credit that he upped the ante in the last couple to edge Tony out.

Hopefully there won't be too many ''I've always thought he was overrated anyway'' comments going around, both lads gave it their all and proved themselves.

So impressed with Bellew's performance, didn't think he would do that well. He was out jabbing Clev and at times looked far classier. I thought he was the better boxer in there, just got out manned a little but thats down to experience.

Can't see Clev troubling any of the top guys. Think he needs to go back to basics a bit.

Tony you did yourself proud and pushed Nathan right till the end - showing tremendous heart and desire. When you boxed at range and fired 2-3 straight shots you looked like the real deal.

Great fight Tony and a great performance.

Many were saying that you would lose big, couldn't outbox him, would be out of your depth etc.

A few of us knew you had the boxing skills to match him and you did. Tight, tight fight. Above everything Nathan has great stamina and that, probably proved the only decisive thing in the last round and a half.

It was that close. A round or 2.

I think you were robbed mate. It was give and take but I saw you landing better punches and more of them, watched the fight with my brother and as soon as the final bell tolled I said 'bet there's a dodgy decision', he agreed and then there was.

Are we perhaps expecting a bit much of a 24 year old who is perhaps as much as three to five years from his peak? Personally I couldn't see him living with Dawson, Cloud etc right now but, with better training, he may well get there in a few years time.

I also had it a draw. Not sure how Dave Parris gets work, 117  (Well i am pretty sure. Not saying he get backhanders in any way, but he knows which promotor will give him the most work)

You surprised me in all honesty. You raised your game 10 fold from some of your recent fights and you've proved to deserve to be at World level. I expected a lobsided walkover and you proved me wrong with a great performance. Hold your head up high, on another day you may have got the nod :TU:

Your speed suprised me alot Tony, fantastic display (in and out of the ring) and you'll be back.

I aint sure an immediate rematch will be in your best interest in my opinion, I feel you could do with a couple more W's under your belt - maybe go a different route before the rematch. Thats just my opinion - I think your pre fight tactics of getting under his skin were spot on and you need to try it again - not sure how you could it in an immediate rematch - got to show Clev you've learned from the fight and are better fighter and you need to do that by showing the improvements.

You absolutely gave it your all - I was so impressed with your start, I honestly thought though that at around the 6th that you were slowing up (understandable) and thought it was looking bad..... but my you sucked it up and shut me up! I take my hat off Tony.

Class act, the pair of you..... glad my little "hope" for the fight turned out to be correct.... just wanted there to be a good fight and mutual respect shown.

Enticing Brian Magee to a Light Heavyweight fight would be a good start.

Well done tony.great fight.i think it took 12 tough rounds for you both to earn each others respect, but happened in the end.your both good young fighters and a feel another contest when your both at your peak would be great.being a clev fan, you've certainly earned my respect after this fight.

A couple of fights to early for Tony in my opinion - Fair dues for going for it, and also for the excellent display, but I think the Bomber would have had his number with a couple more fights under his belt.

Tony showed a great jab and landed it well. That surprised me a bit, because I rated Clev as the better boxer. I didn't expect to see Clev being out jabbed or to see him having to work so hard.

Clev probably has the edge in natural athleticism which helps him to be an awkward fuckér to fight. He has a lot of movement and an excellent engine, I thought it hinged on the last round myself, and Clev took that one.

He seems a nice guy does Nathan, and Tony's stock has only risen - I think both fighters have come out of this one really well. I hope that Bellow can keep focused for his next few fights, he should take inspiration from this one and not dwell on it too much.

Best wishes to both fighters.

good post fella

a lot of people were rating Clev as some kind of boxer and I (and a few others) have been saying all along that he isn't.

he was much better when he pushed the pace up. he's basically a tall, athletic pressure-fighter. :TU:

If he came across as a complete arsehole, I'd tell him. He comes across well as do Larry, Jeff Thomas, Damon Reed, John Scully and lots of other guys on here.

If Chisora or Toney became a regular poster, it would be a different story.

Nothing between them, I had it a draw.

If Clev wants to mix it with the elite he has to use his jab and work off it, not get involved in a brawl and rely on a decent chin, hand speed and flurries.

Both deserve a lot of credit, especially Bomber. Outboxed Clev for periods early on and landed the BIG shots.

Clev landed more of them and that obviously caught the judges' attention.

He'll come again.

Captain H, when Clev used his jab with Bomber, he was getting beat. I was so impressed with Tony's gap-closing. Everytime they had a chess match, Clev jabbed, fell short, and was countered by a Bellew Jab. Perfect boxing. Clev took control again when he decided to use his work-rate and fast combos.

If Clev and Bomber boxed for 12 rounds, jab vrs jab, I feel Bomber would win 10-2.

No joke. Bomber is the better boxer. Clev won with work-rate and stamina.

And fair play to him. I love a good pressure fighter who throws lots of punches.
