In fact - ban him.
He is a poor man's Johnny Depp. His knowledge of boxing would not fill the back of a fag packet.
David Payne should be a worried man with all those gushing love messages - he has been accused of being a stalker in the past.
I can't believe he's back around here - it felt like someone had walked over my grave.
I did ask him how he had those opinions when he had only been a member since My 2011 (Pirate) !!

He replied by saying that he was an "avid reader" :o

I just found it strange that some of his posts had been deleted and some of my replies. I'm someone who believes that you should allow content to be posted and let the stupidity or ignorance of that post strangle itself with the replies it will get.....

I never knew how much that recklessness was a reality, or how much it was stirred up by certain notable figures of the root vegetable and allegedly variety during the golden period of Eastside (which for me was around 2003, since when I've hardly read a boxing forum).

Go and look at some of the old threads on fight hype, for a look back into a golden period for boxing forums.
I remember yourself Khaosai, Spud (of course), Chambers, Lightsoot from back in the day. I'm struggling with other names but certainly remember Rhino and thepocketrocket from back then.

Yup, time went by, priorities change, what was once so important is now just a footnote.

I was advised by someone recently to google some old "KG" posts from years ago and was amazed at what i found. Without wishing to sound egotistical, I was in stitches looking back on some of those old threads from 2002-2007.

As Morrissey said, "has the world changed, or have i changed?"

probably, both.

Been interesting seeing what people have thought about the site.......

Seems that it's still a great site despite having one or two more trolls, but that is maybe a tinge of the rose tinted going off. As one or two have said, the quality of the threads seem to go up when the big fights are happenning and that in itself tends to draw more people to post and express an opinion. I have recently checked out another site, one that i used to be on and they have had threads open for a week and have only had three replies and most of the threads have been started by the guy who administers the site. On Boxrec you can have over 20 replies in an hour if the thread is something that stirs people.........

All hail Boxrec and whoever posts here

I have never seen any kind of forum that did not, at some point, end up looking backwards and contemplating the navel of its body-politic through rose-tinted glasses.

'this forum just isn't what it used to be' is a cliche oft-spouted.

To be fair I've no real point of comparision as I don't use non-boxing forums, only started using the Internet for boxing purposes around 2005 and don't care enough about my fellow posters to do my history so in the post that become I thread I was alluding to the quality of recent poster, multiple threads and the odd weird one such as the recent one accussing Booth of showing a lack of heart in the Quigg fight.
aye, to be fair i haven't seen/been on that many forums myself

its just that every single one i've seen or been on you can guarantee the 'this forum....' plaint will be trotted out at some time.

I guess there is a peaks and troughs element to forums in general, as there is to boxing, and everything else in life.

It can go either way after a big fight, it can stir interest and get people offering their different opinions, raising debate and providing the feel which the concept of forums was invented to create. However, big fights will also attract some time wasting posters who watch 2 or 3 fights a year but feel the need to slam down more realistic posters with some unfounded gibberish often containing the stench of reworded Pat Sheehan nonsense. You see first time posters taking a detailed venomous digs at someone in the game, and then get backslapped by other first time posters who would appear to be the same person/promotional outfit.

The forums are well moderated, probably too well moderated at times as you often would prefer to see the ‘dirty washing’, but such caution has been made unavoidable and the guys do a great job with it.

I've become a little jaded of late though. The need to check the forums as frequently on my phone as I have in the past has dissipated. The amount of posters whose opinion I'd take as read has diminished. The amount of posters who rate quantity above quality would seem to have risen. It's not just new posters. There are some experienced posters on here that have become especially tedious of late, in terms of engaging in tit for tat pendency.

That said, the forum is still the only one I visit regularly. There are still posters here more than worthy of reading, I'd highlight Mr McNeilly, KingG, Captain Hook (who I think [like me] sometimes gets grief because his opinion doesn't always match the majority), Counter Puncher, Deserter, Damian Hucker, David Payne, Lenny, Jeff Thomas, Hagler (good tipster), Deno (and he does a great line in Rugby tipping haha), Fat Git (if that is the artist formerly known as Carlos Wigan??), Slap (again, gets hassle but I feel his presence here benefits the site). Lots of others I’m sure. Boxers wise, Curtis, Bellew and Martin Power all come across superbly well. I think Arnie comes across very well and I’d actually prefer to see more coaches come on here. You always get to hear the thoughts of a boxer through a variety of mediums, but the coach’s thoughts aren’t always as prevalent.

In terms of posters, some old favourites will return and some current inhabitants will move on, but I think/hope this forum will continue to be a definite stop for a large percentage of those involved in the sport.

There was a mass exodus from Dogpound around 2008................

Bigmark and myself had set up the prediction league and were trying to give ideas on how to improve traffic on the site, but the guy who ran it defended himself too vigourously at times, to the point of alienating a lot of people and a lot of us came across.

You make good posts, but this thread stems from some posters being a little disillusioned with the forum. I make a post, and you basically point out that it's not worth bothering. That could be said for every post on every forum mate. I realise this reply is getting a little long now so to save your eyes from further requirements of endurance, just read 'cheers smart arse'.

No forumis ever going to be perfect, but you tend to find for the majority of time that there is a lot more respect shown and given in this one than many others.

Repetition of threads can be annoying, but it shows genuine enthusiasm of the sport which is better than the forum stagnating so i tend not to moan or be to bothered by this.

I would like to see more of a neutral standpoint taken by some of the fighters/trainers on here and maybe a bit more insight into camps but lets face facts ive got more chance of my other half doing that thing with a hanky and ice cube than we have of that happening.

all in all an enjoyable place to be, ive definitely picked up a lot reading through some posters thoughts, and look forard to continuing that

I think this is the problem as the whole twitter thing has made the internet world more fast paced so in general people don't have the patience anymore. I will always take the time reading someone's long post as they obviously feel passionate enough about a subject that they have spent time writing and that deserves a certain amount of respect.

It's not all about post counts

that was me being daft .. sorry.

That said ..
I tend to skim-read if a post is .. too long.
