Quit on his stool at end of 7th.

Povetkin is a annoying fighter.
I hate the way he ducks his head down low and waits for the ref to step in.
This is effective for him but fornicating annoying

Povetkin has gone backwards since getting with Atlas. It was a very tight fight tonight.

He's no longer with Atlas and in all honesty I think he needs him back...jtourettes wrote:Povetkin has gone backwards since getting with Atlas. It was a very tight fight tonight.

He should have had at least one point taken away for rabbit punches, hitting on the break and hitting and holdiing.Spiker wrote:I was willing him to do that all night.keithmoonhangover wrote:All Huck had to do was stepo back and uppercut.Spiker wrote:Povetkin is a annoying fighter.

And Povetkin should've been deducted for continuously ducking below Huck's wastekeithmoonhangover wrote:He should have had at least one point taken away for rabbit punches, hitting on the break and hitting and holdiing.Spiker wrote:I was willing him to do that all night.keithmoonhangover wrote: All Huck had to do was stepo back and uppercut.

I couldn't believe how out of shape Povitkin was, he was blowing after 3 rounds. Maybe this will be his wake up call to get himself into shape, on last nights performance he doesn't have a chance against Wlad or Vitali

Yeah, Povetkin was far too heavy and clearly didn't train properly. He clearly has no hunger at all. I fail to comprehend how somebody whose full-time job it is to get in shape for a fight can't motivate himself to do it. It's the case with so many of the heavyweights. I think Povetkin thought he was gonna walk through Huck and didn't bother to train properly, but what kind of attitude is that for an up and coming heavyweight? It's a disgrace. He was lucky to survive in there as he was so gassed. There are journeyman fighters who box as well as holding down a full time job and who turn up in shape and ready to go a few tough rounds. Povetkin is content to cling on to his fake WBA belt whilst doing as little as possible to do so. He doesn't want to fight Klitschko and is probably making enough money as it is fighting the fights he is. He needs to be a stone lighter, but because he is so clearly lacking in drive and ambition he will not do this. I hope last night will have shaken him out of his complacency but I fear his talent, which IMO is proven given his amateur titles and his ability to get some victories despite nowehere near in opitmum physical condition, will go to waste as his mindset appears to be totally wrong.

Povetkin not very impressive at all, Huck was hurting him there and he was blowing after just a few rounds. Damn I had a bet on Huck points, but when I saw the judge line up, they looked a respectable bunch, so realised Pov was gonna get it, which he deserved. If it was the usuall WBO judges, the hometown boy might have nicked that.
Re: Povetkin - Huck RBR (I can't wait for this!!!)
Totally agree, he needs to be in better shape, maybe his just waiting for k2 to retire so he can call himself number 1, only time will tell how good huck is as a heavy, haye would destroy huck IMO, and chisora v povetkin would sell tickets. An interesting division again !Britannian Stallion wrote:Yeah, Povetkin was far too heavy and clearly didn't train properly. He clearly has no hunger at all. Re: Povetkin - Huck RBR (I can't wait for this!!!)
great fight, realy enjoyed that HW match up.
I thoughtafter 3 Povetkin would get the stoppage but he went down hill badly from the 4th. I didnt sit and score it but Huck for me got the better of the middle rounds, im surprised alot of you guys on here gave Povetkin the last round & hence the fight 1 - i thought 12 was a very clear Huck round who picked off a very tired Povetkin who knew he needed to win the last round.
As much as i enjoyed it though, i dont see either of them going far in the division, Povetkin was very poor from 4 onwards, his defence consisted of bending over and stickign his head into Hucks crotch... wtf was that all about? The ref should have been on him to stop that shit & Huck could easily have had a point off for delibertly throwing down onto the back of Povs skull when he did do it.
Povetkin is a million miles away from Klitchkos right now i think he'd get smashed to bits. nowhere enar that level.
Huck on the other, dont think hes carried the pwoer to HW. Theres alot of guys i dont think he could hurt, chisora for example, and i dont think he'd cope with a puncher at HW.

Couldn't agree more with this. Was great to see a decent heavy weight and does add to the arguement the Klitschko's have added to the lack of a buzz around the division. But the Klitschko's would murder both of them guys on tonights showing.
Re: Povetkin - Huck RBR (I can't wait for this!!!)
Who gave Povetkin the 12th? That was a very easy round to score; Huck clearly had the advantage.desperados wrote:great fight, realy enjoyed that HW match up.

read through this thread, 2 or 3 posters im sure scored the 12th to povetkin and ultimatly the fight to povetkin by 1 point.rhino222 wrote:i heard that mark green and ian john lewis had povetkin winning the 12th!!crusader wrote:Who gave Povetkin the 12th? I had a bet on povetikin. I watched the fight with my mates so didnt keep a clear count of how i felt the rounds went but i felt Huck won that fight by a round or 2 last night. From round 4 onwards he seemed to dictate the fight and made Povetkin look really uncomfortable.
Re: Povetkin - Huck RBR (I can't wait for this!!!)
I read through and no one scored the 12th for Povetkin. Me and Keith scored the fight 115-114 for Povetkin, but Huck won the 12th on both of our cards.
Huck did a lot of damage in select rounds, but in other rounds (such as 8, 10, and 11) he kept the pace at Povetkin's level, making the rounds closer than they should've been given Povetkin's lack of stamina. The first round was also very close, and Povetkin clearly won the 2nd and 3rd, so on a round by round basis it was tough to splt them, even though Huck did better work overall.

Re: Povetkin - Huck RBR (I can't wait for this!!!)
It wasn't quite Ali v Foster but it was an exciting fight. I really wanted Povetkin to win but he was poor and looks on the slide to me. He wouldn't have a cat in hells chance against Vladimir. I could easily see Chisora taking him to a split decision.
Shame for Huck that he couldn't negate the low ducking from Povetkin. I bet his corner were well pissed off with that situation.
