Anyone know if Booth has been able to do this deal direct with the Germans and cut Fran k out of the loop?
The Germans won the purse bid to stage this fight, Warren has no promotional involvement and he is not Groves's manager, Booth is. No reason why Booth shouldn't deal directly with the Germans under those circumstances. Hard to see how FW would benefit from the cancellation of his own show as he will not be getting paid off the Groves-Stieglitz fight. If Groves wins, FW would promote any defences in Britain, there is that. But he has lost a major show and an important subscription driver for Allegedly channel, any benefit Warren might get (the win isn't guaranteed) is unlikely to be until autumn at the earliest because no boxing promoter in his right mind would run against the European Championships and the Olympics. Also there is no guarantee that 456 would even show the Stielitz fight as they will face rivalry from Sky in the bidding. Doubt FW is delighted about all this.
I read April 28th the Groves fight with Stieglitz will happen so says Fat Dan.

“SES’s winning bid for Stieglitz-Groves 168 title was $792K. Beat allegedly bid of $782K. April 28 in Germany.”

Make a big song and dance about it and he might fly you over to Germany. Actually probably not.

I hope groves is successful in his challenge for the big mac and fries WBKFC interim super milkshake weight title. It's something the whole nation can be proud of. I don't blame him for pulling out when he is about to feature in a bout of this importance.

It's not the greatest way to go about it but are we all really slagging off a young English fighter gunning for a bigger and better challenge?
Stieglitz is a strap holder but still, he is clearly on a different level to Anderson and the WBO means more than the British and Commonwealth belts.
It's a great opportunity for St George.
It's a bastard for everyone who has lost out though. I hope everyone gets as much moolah back as possible.

Can see it from Groves pov if he's going for a bigger fight but this is becoming a real problem with boxing at the moment. Would have been one thing to pull out a month back or whatever but to do it a couple of days before (unless there was a genuine injury) just takes the piss out of fans who've paid a lot of money to go and watch.
That said when they announce a venue I will no doubt end up looking to see if I can get a cheap flight!!

That's three fights now he has shrugged off - and I know about 18 people who've lost about £2,500 in train fares and arrangements.
They lost on previous bouts too. Bet Kenny is seething.
Three fights thought it was 2?
There was a half-blind African that got canned at the final hour, then another injury at back end of last year and now this one.

It the hotel money I lost too, due to it being the Arena thought I would stay to avoid missing train. The ringside tickets were 150 quid I had 4.

Thats one was not his fault, that was his promotors. I had tickets to that one too!

Well you'll get a refund on the tickets, do you not think you'll get a refund on the hotel rooms?

Jeff was on the card, Yiddo. He is not going to get paid, he is not going to fight. I think he's got every right to slag Groves off, if the injury is bogus.
It's the whole thing, not just my fight- the whole attitude is wrong. A fake title- and for what gain. Andre Ward is champ... I find it frustrating as a fan that a potential classic is aborted so that pretend champion can defend his pretend belt against a pretend challenger.
Least it's not a vacant title, makes a lovely change.
What's the point in these matches? Great Stieglitz is world class, fabulous! But who is he?

You could say "who is he" about mulitple fighters that have brought their world titles over to Britain or have been the contender to world titles held by British fighters. I dont agree that its a fake title but the question of to what gain is a puzzling one. Where does Groves go if he wins? Id have a more of a problem if his 1st defence is against Anderson.

It depends on what you consider world class. Stieglitz is in the top 5 or 6 at 168.

From the way twitter is going id be surprised if we didnt see Anderson/Smith for the Commonwealth as an eliminator for the British or a straight fight for the British.

Ive seen Reid, Smith and Jeffries all mentioned. Coldwell is interested in putting a bid in for Kenny to fight Smith by looks of it.
