Yes I have to agree, I also disagreed with people who thought he looked in shape when he was ringside at York hall a few weeks back, but I'm confident he will be in great shape come September, he should grow his hair a little too !jamiedavies02 wrote:Mitchell looked badly out of shape on his breif Ringside appearance last night

i dont think burns would beat murray let alone mitchell, dont get me wrong burns is a brilliant fighter but this is michells time to shine.billy nelson wrote:Please remember guys Rickys been in with much BIGGER punchers than Kevin,Martinez,Moses and Katsitas all of whom were dealt with professionally has will Kevin.
Kevin is a good fighter who has to prove hes world class unfortunately he wont get the chance in this fight.

Things don't work that way. It's not that simple. You only have to look at fights throughout history. Infact, Mitchell KO'd Johannson yet Johannson outpointed Burns so it could be argued that Burns and Mitchell wasn't at their best those nights. You can't go by the past results.Brute wrote:Burns outpointed Katsidis, Katsidis stopped Mitchell in three rounds.
I think Burns will win.
Burns could beat the current, plodding version of Murray one handed, just jab away all night.dan28uk wrote:i dont think burns would beat murray let alone mitchell, dont get me wrong burns is a brilliant fighter but this is michells time to shine.billy nelson wrote:Please remember guys Rickys been in with much BIGGER punchers than Kevin,Martinez,Moses and Katsitas all of whom were dealt with professionally has will Kevin.

I agree with you there; John seemed to change his style of boxing and just seemed to imagine he was Marvin Hagler (chin not ability). He looked fantastic coming up to British level; like a good mexican; and then seemed to feel he couldn't be hurt - in straight up and little head movement. It is a shame; at his best he was class, accuarate, good variety, good angulation, great engine and gears and a bosses mentality. To chuck that away to march forward is a real pity. I hope he gets his head together changes things up and get back at it. A rejuvinated Murray v Rees or Matthews would be some bout.LeedsLad wrote:Burns could beat the current, plodding version of Murray one handed, just jab away all night.dan28uk wrote:i dont think burns would beat murray let alone mitchell, dont get me wrong burns is a brilliant fighter but this is michells time to shine.billy nelson wrote:Please remember guys Rickys been in with much BIGGER punchers than Kevin,Martinez,Moses and Katsitas all of whom were dealt with professionally has will Kevin.

Unfortunately John hasn't improved AT ALL in the last three years. He just follows the opponent around the ring getting hit.
The way Murray has regressed technically is disappointing, I'd just instruct Ricky to lead off all night and force Murray to try and counter.... 120-108 x 3.
Good call, got to be worth a tener :PTopGun wrote:Never usually think a fight could end in a draw but it wouldn't be a bad bet for this one, going to be very tight. A few quid at 33/1 is not a bad shout??

Mate if the fight inside for 12 rounds Kevin will get stopped Ricky is much stronger than kevin,if he tries to box on the outside i will post his nose to Dagenham once we get it off Rickys left gloveThereByTheGrace wrote:I'm still undecided as to who wins this fight but for me the key areas to deciding who wins are:
- Fighting on the inside: Mitchell wins hands down fighting on the inside IMO. He has more power and natural strength having been at the weight for a lot longer than Burns. Against Murray, Mitchell's best work was on the inside and staying close and eventually wearing Murray down. Burns vs Moses in the middle rounds got a bit sloppy and uncomfortable in a few ways for Burns when on the inside.
- Pressure - I really think if Mitchell makes him fight on the inside with constant pressure and not allowing Burns time to think and use his jab he can wear him down. However much of this will come down to fitness, and I think Burns will be in better condition than Mitchell come fight night given Mitchell's lack of activity in the last 2 years or so. The last quarter of the fight will be key.
- Experience - Mitchell is still relatively inexperienced at a higher level. Only Katsidis and maybe Prescott are notable names at the world level. Burns has beaten Martinez (Debatable how good he is given he has done nowt since), Katsidis (Although shot he still was a good name) and Moses (Good performance). For me the experience for Burns being through the Championship rounds on more occasions edges this part for me.
Looking at it now, I think Burns might edge it on points, but Mitchell has the ability to stop him if he puts constant pressure and is in the right frame of mind to fight 12 hard rounds. He has been in this last chance saloon before, producing his best performance stopping John Murray. It should be a belter
If you think Burns is a brilliant fighter how highly do you rate Murray?dan28uk wrote:i dont think burns would beat murray let alone mitchell, dont get me wrong burns is a brilliant fighter but this is michells time to shine.billy nelson wrote:Please remember guys Rickys been in with much BIGGER punchers than Kevin,Martinez,Moses and Katsitas all of whom were dealt with professionally has will Kevin.
