He adds nothing to his record. Given the strength of Carl's record it takes a very very good operator to improve it.
Nathan adds nothing to his record.
Let's leave the WBO paper title thing out of it. As I have said before, Nathan holds the most paper title in the sport right now!

Froch wouldn't fight Cleverley for 10 Million!- Eddie Hearn
Carl Froch will never face Nathan Cleverly with the IBF super-middleweight champion's promoter Eddie Hearn describing an offer for them to meet as a publicity stunt.
Promoter allegedly contacted Hearn, boss of Matchroom, stating he was willing to pay Froch £1million to challenge for Cleverly's WBO light-heavyweight title in Cardiff. While Hearn admits the figure is accurate, he insists even a sum several times that amount would fail to persuade Froch to leave a high-quality division full of big names.
Once the 35-year-old from Nottingham has negotiated his title defence against Yusaf Mack in November, he is being lined up for rematches against Lucian Bute and Mikkel Kessler.
We must have stated a dozen times it would be impossible for Carl Froch to move up to light-heavyweight. He starts camp at 12stones 4lbs. He'd be fighting blokes at 190lbs in the ring.
He's world super-middleweight champion and will be defending his super-middleweight title against Yusaf Mack. Then it's Bute and Kessler, after that he may hang up his gloves.
They could offer £10million, the fight isn't going to happen. The money's irrelevant.
Anyway, the offer they made us was probably half of what I'd pay Carl for the same fight.
I told Carl about it last night and he laughed. Carl feels sorry for Nathan and thinks he's a good young fighter.
My advice to Cleverly would be forget about Froch, he's a legend. You're not even at the races with him. Focus on Tony Bellew.By sending the email, they can say they made us a huge offer. It gets people talking about their fighters. When you don't have a major broadcaster behind you, you need some cheap free publicity and that's what this is - a publicity stunt.I might email Sugar Ray Leonard at the weekend to see if he wants to come out of retirement to fight Froch and tell everyone that Sugar Ray turned down a massive offer.

It's interesting that Hearn says he'd only pay half for the same fight, what's he getting for Mack? 300 Grand...

In some ways it raises more questions, if Nathan is too big for Carl then he does fight Kessler after the Bute rematch (if it happens) would he move up to LHW anyway to fight for the WBC title or would Kessler vacate to meet him at super middle for the IBF?

Kessler is a super mid who moved up if it does take place up there.
Also Kessler>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Cleverly.
Froch wants revenge.
I suspect if Nathan beat someone like Hopkins then Carl would maybe entertain it. That ain't happening of course, unless Bernard decides to fight on until in his 60s!!!

He was ahead on one card when he was stopped byTavoris Cloud last year, which is more impressive than any of Uzelkov's accomplishments over the past several years.
But I agree that Cleverly-Froch would be more interesting than Froch-Mack.
Yes tbf he did have a go with Cloud initially and then crumbled but really he's a stopagge waiting to happen and what does he add to Carls record .
He's only the USBA champion and his last two he's won on points against Omar Sheikha 32-11-0 (Calzaghe stopped him 12 years ago!) and Sabou Bollogou 8-5-0. Obviously keep safe fights until the next step up/stoppage.
I'm sympathetic with your point; the discrepancy in ability and recent accomplishments between Mack and Froch is larger than the discrepancy between Cleverly and Uzelkov, and the former match-up is more predictable and generates less interest than Froch-Cleverly would. However, relative to a common standard (what I called 'general world class'), Mack is currently better than Uzelkov, which is all I was getting out.
I agree Mack has definetly mixed at a higher level and was found wanting everytime

Yeah but plenty of fighters from middle/mw have ended up moving to LHW . Eddie is using the weight disparity as an excuse when really Carl could easily end up fighting in the lHW division for his last couple of fights
Really if Carl does have three more fights left would it perceived as a wise decision to pass up 1 million pounds to become a two weight champion :P to have a tune up against a nobody to get ready for a fight against someone he's already completely outclassed and thrashed?

Kinda proves what I have said all along about Carls run of tough matches.
He simply had no option but to take them.
Now he does have an option of easy fights, he will go for them first.
Am I the only one who would rather see him fight Cleverly first over the shop worn Kessler and over-hyped Bute?

Kessler isn't really a LHW himself...what did he actually come in at against Green?...

Limits are upper limits, there is no lower limits. Kessler was 169½ v Green, in his previous bout he was 166½.

I would rather see him fight Kessler than Cleverly. Not too fussed about Bute again, although I would put the house on Bute against Cleverly if they ever fought.
I would rather see Carl against Pascal again as their fight was a bit of a mini classic.
Carl has a lot of options and unfortunately for Nathan the vast majority of them are bigger names and better fighters than him and therefore add more to Carl's legacy.
A lot of it boils down to promoters from the public airing we have seen on this one. Allegedly used Froch's name for publicity and Eddie responded.
Allegedly has done a good job as far as getting Nathan's name out there that's for sure. If he were African and had the same record ( he wouldn't have the WBO strap if he were African ) and was calling out the likes of Hopkins, Cloud, Froch and co we would all be saying this lad should go and see a shrink.
Beaten nobody of note yet we have some here calling for him being a challenger to Froch...no hold on a minute, some here are actually saying Froch should move up in weight and be a challenger for HIS "title"!
If Jon Lewis Dickinson offered Cleverly 500k to move up and fight him for the British cruiser title would you all be clamouring for Nathan to go up and fight him?

FW is certainly getting his wish by Nathan being discussed by the boxing public on the back of a true Champion in Froch. Seriously, some people I work with who follow boxing at a decent/television level have never even heard of Nathan.
I'm surprised that David Haye's name hasn't popped up somewhere for Nathan seen as Haye is on the FW wagon now. Nice bit of propaganda to be had there, with all the parties involved in on the banter.
We certainly can't question anything Froch has achieved or his next opponent. After Mack(if he does indeed win), he has potentially 2-3 of the biggest fights of his career to come. A Bute rematch in Canada, Kessler in Nottingham and then one last big fight, possibly in Notthingham against the likes of Pavlik, Dirrell, Abraham, Pascal or if Eddie really wants to push the boat out Hopkins on a massive payday(fantasy land).
I can't see the Ward fight happening again and not that bothered to see it either. Actually hoping Ward gets KO'd tonight by Dawson to set that up for a rematch but think it will really be a frustrating watch over 12 rounds.
As for Nathan, I'd back Groves to 'chin him' so him against Froch is pointless and not something that inspires.
FW should be making Nathan fights that will actually happen instead of fantasy land, be like Eddie saying 'If Chavez Jnr beats Sergio, we're putting an offer in for him to fight Carl Froch at Super Middleweight in Nottingham for 10 million.' Never going to happen. You've got to laugh at FW, he must laugh himself to sleep some nights with these crazy ideas.

No, but I'd imagine the whole Cleverley clan would be!
Has Carl ever been paid 1 million pounds for a fight?

Why are you so interested in Carl's bank account? I suspect he has a fair few quid tucked up.
Eddie has already said he would pay him double that for a clev fight. He earns enough.
I'm sure Froch could make even more fighting the whole cast of towie at once but he wouldn't be up for that! Carl has bottled it!!!!

I can't believe us sensible, intelligent boxing fans are giving "him" exactly what he wanted in the first place and even discussing this. We all slag him off yet play right into his hands time and time again.

Eddie isn't making sense there saying he would pay him double that for Cleverly but he wouldn't let Carl fight him for 10 Mill on allegedly

Why not, Eddie would get his cut and Froch would do well.. but because of the Hearns refusing to let him fight on anothers bill Carl loses a million.
I'm interested in what Carl is getting to fight Mack not his bank account only to compare with the offer.
Possibly three fights before he retires and Mack gets a spot...poor choice.

Question:
Does anyone believe Matchroom would sh*t all over their paymaster Sky and the Bute rematch clause - then put Sky's top fighter on another rival channel, for another rival promoter...
..just because he sent an 'email' ?
"Hi Sky it's Eddie here, yeah I know you did a load of specials and Froch guesting most weeks on ringside and in the studio for most of your fights, plus the huge coverage you have given him for his actual marquee fights - but we're gonna ditch you and your Sky date later this year, to put him on allegedly, for FW, against an underserving fighter in a division above. I've got go now, because I have to call Canada up."

I'll never be suprised by what a home fighter gets. Ever since I heard what Benn got compared to McClellan for their fight.

Not dissimilar to when Khan left Sky after they'd given him the build up for the fight that ended up as McCloskey (a Hearn fighter). Eddie is showing the loyalty to Sky that the Khans didn't, but the Khans went in search of the biggest payday for their man instead. They failed, but they tried, and I have no problem with that; a fighter's manager and promoter should represent the fighter's best interests surely, not protect their own relationship with a TV company. Why should a fighter take less when more is being offered? Least of all when he's let it be known he only has three fights left and presumably is looking to maximise his earnings to take into retirement?
In Hearn's case I think I'm right in saying there is no longterm contract with Froch in place, they
do their business on a fight to fight basis. Under these circumstances it is sensible for him to play the long game and stay with Sky rather than go for one-off quick money from BN. Froch is still entitled to maximise his own earnings, obviously, but it's his choice whether or not to work with Eddie and by association Sky and one presumes he is happy with that arrangement or he would not be keeping that relationship alive when he doesn't have to.
