When you run the translator over the Japanese texts, you get humorous results but the gist from the reports, is that Kyotaro bit far more off than he realised by getting into the ring against Solomon, who gave him a hiding.

Yes -- it appears that Fujimoto was very wary of Haumono's one-punch power, and his his plan was to use his foot work to stay away from Haumono until the second half of the fight, which the audience didn't like. The effect was that Fujimoto didn't throw any punches at all. People in the audience were yelling and hooting at Fujimoto to "fight like a man!" and "throw some punches!" According to the article, the punch that ended it was "a long right hook to the face," resulting in a "shocking KO scene" of Fujimoto "crumpling at the knees." Afterwards, Fujimoto stated, "I don't remember why I lost."

reminds me of the elusive evan quinn vs kali meehan.

as soon as he felt kali's power he stayed several metres away and just was hell bent on staying on his feet. he ran the whole fight and was more interested in entertaining the crowd at the end of each round. considering the amount of booing from the crowd, i think its fair to say the crowd wanted to see a fight, not some goose dancing.

thumbs up for the fujimoto dude for not fighting 25 fighters with 12-35 form and testing himself properly so soon at boxing.

if only more boxers could follow suit.

Fujimoto is still on Pluto after that punch, it was ambitioius matchmaking to say the least but there
was no reason why it couldn't have come off. I would like to see the 6ft 7ins Zhang
of China who won a bronze medal in Beijing turn pro. Soon, we will have a decent heavyweight
coming out of Asia. Those boys are getting bigger and bigger by the year.

terrible refereeing there. the dude was in la la land and it should have been stopped the first time. that end punch looked like it nearly killed the poor guy. i know there is only a small window for the ref to match a decision, but he wouldn't have even known his own name when the ref let him continue.

On the video (thanks Fat Git for posting), Fujimoto after the first knockdown seemed to motion to the ref that he didn't want to continue, but the ref had other ideas.

At least that way, no hometown decision would come into question.

Hey Guys, I was at Ringside, and saw Kyotaro signal to his corner, he didn't want to continue, he really didn't know where he was for a few seconds and was hurt, but he appeared ok when the count finished and the fight resumed, only to be smashed by that massive right hand.

He looked like he didn't want to be there after the first round when he felt Sol's power, he just would not engage and ran all night, two of the Judges scored first round 10-10, mainly due to there were just one or two scoring blows, the second was not much better.

Having said that, Haumono was really purposeful and went hard at Kyotaro, he took his time, and it almost looked as though, he knew what was gonna happen, Haumono was very well received at both the weigh-in and fight, he was very popular and both he and his team, presented themselves well.

Good report mate. Big crowd? Did you get the impression boxing could take off over there?

haumono might be able to make some good coin there if he has a couple more fights.

he would stand out amongst the crowd there.
