i actually remember this.

didnt collins go on and sadly commit suicide due to this??? Might be getting my wires crossed but Im sure he topped himself due to despression coming from that sad act.,

One of the obvious differences between Lewis and Audley is physical strength. Harrison seems to be pushed on the back foot so easily, no matter what his size/weight advantage. Of course he gets away with it now because his punches are enough to put an end to matters usually but when he faces someone of quality who doesn't fall over (eg. Samil Sam) he's going to really start to feel the pressure in there.

I've said it from day one - to survive at the top big Audley is going to have to develop the fastest footwork in heavyweight history.

Yes J - an internet search reminded me that Billy Collins jr killed himself in 1984. I'm hazy on the details but yes, I seem to remember he never got over the physical and mental harm caused by Panama Lewis's contemptible actions.

Harrison is definetly not going to be as aggresive a fighter as Lewis was before he became a little gunshy after the loss to McCall, however, if he gets better and better at putting those shots together, you don't need to be a devastating one punch KO artist.

Audley has a natural handspeed which he can turn into a real asset. Also if he learns to plant his feet suddenly and unleash shots after moving out of range, he can achieve that effect.

I see what you are saying however, without the punchpower to deter opponents, he will have to be moving constantly to win fights, which is very hard for a man that size to do. It all depends how his punch power develops...

I remember seeing this on a TV program, the guy was undefeated. You could tell something was up because after 3rounds Collins' face was well marked up, he was managed by his Dad and I can remember him saying that if Collins Jr had an ounce of quit in him he would have been alive today. Sadly this is probably true. He was 22 when he died.

Collins drove over a canyon in his pick-up truck. He was drunk, and it was either an accident or suicide, depending on how you look at it.
He was very depressed that his boxing career had come to an end due to eye damage sustained in the Resto sickener. Resto, who still longs to box, lives in the basement of a boxing gym in New York.

they only found out that padding had been removed from the knuckle part of the glove when collins`s dad (billy collins senior) went over to congratulate resto after the fight, apparently he shook hands, sensed something was wrong and then kept his grip on the glove whilst shouting the authorities ringside to come and impound the gloves for further inspection. (some reckon the severe facial damage his son aquired as early as the first round aided his suspicions).
on closer inspection the 8 ounce gloves now weighed 7 ounces with the missing ounce of padding being from the knuckle area, they also found a tiny slit in the gloves.
as you say bennie, he became depressed, left his wife and began drinking heavily, less than a year after the bout his vehicle crashed into a creek.
its sad.

Sinan Samil Sam have now split with Universum and fights with former pro Ahmet Öner as manager. So now it will be alot easier to get Sam to the UK to fight.

That´s right, dude, I heard it yesterday. We´ll see how he will do without the UBP-coaches.....If he would work harder on his Döner-Kebap-belly he could do a better job than vs Luan Krasniqi or Gomez. Anyway it would be a hard job for Harrison, the first one......
