He was down 3 times against an Indian in the Commonwealth semis

Wasn't the knockdown ruled a slip in the Fury Price am fight?
I can't remember.

I think its silly to talk about Price being chinny. He copped one behind the ear, a bad place to get hit. He lacks pro experiance and got in too close instead of fighting at range with his jab. I think Price did take Thompson seriously but at the same time he was looking past him which is not a good thing to do. Dismissing domestic fighters isnt good either. Fury and Chisora wouldnt be easy and again we have to consider Harrison who blows hot and cold. Price has to rebuild now and Chisora would be a good fight IMO. Maybe a rematch with Thompson end of the year but that may not be his best move. I think he is looking at 2 years for a title challenge after last night.

Let's imagine if AMIR KHAN or AUDLEY had been KO'd with a punch to the ear - the site
bandwith would go into meltdown.
He isn't chinny - you are right - more like earry!

A title defence against towers would be a logical and interesting match up.Should avoid a rematch with Thompson.

Price is chinny, it is silly to claim otherwise.

Horrified as I am & sickened though it makes me:
I agree wholeheartedly with Horse.
Sorry.

Whenever Brits on here would vehemently defend Price and Fury for not fighting because of a mythical mega money world title fight in the future, I'd always cast my mind back to Alex Garcia. Garcia was a popular 90s Mexican American heavyweight with a crowd-pleasing style and a big punch. Twice he turned down million dollar paydays against Foreman and Bowe only to get whacked in two by journeyman Mike Dixon for a few grand, on the USA Network. A million dollars. A few grand.
A friend of mine saw him 10 years ago shaking people down for loose change outside Madison Square Garden. Bet he wishes he had taken one of those money making fights now.
(Garcia is also interesting in relation to Price in that he never recovered mentally from the knockout. In his next fight James Warring refused to give in to him and gave him 12 hard rounds. Then after that Garing Lane crushed Garcia in 2. Make money quickly if you're a David Price type)

I know its not as easy to do as it is to type, but Price needs to watch that Satchell from the undercard.
Price moves his feet, but not his body, and not his head. Satchell did all three very well.
He also needs to look at someone like Hamilton, what did that man do all fight long? pop that jab. Over and over for 12 rounds. Did Price land a single, proper jab in the time he was in there?
Head/body movement, and a regular, stiff, jab. Pick those up and don't lose them under fire, Price could be as good as anyone else currently out there.

I didnt know too much, if anything, about his career in the ams. Maybe he was chinny then but as a pro he has taken a good few punches without going down. Its HW boxing, one lapse in concentration, and one big punch can spark you out. Everyone seems to be pinning their hopes on Fury now who on paper has a perfect record. The truth is he lost to John McD but Terry O Connar gave it to Fury. They should both have loss on their record and until they meet we wont know who is our best HW.

Only now had a chance to view the knock-out
I know sometimes a punch to the top of the head or ear can have kinda dramatic & peculiar effects .... but, It didn`t look too heavy a punch ... and it didn`t look as if it landed in a too dangerous position... it obviously was and did ... but?
Sadly - this one loss can really put an end to David Price`s ambition.
At 29yrs old it will be very hard to build him up whilst protecting that shocking lack of punch resistance.
David Price will have the punchers chance of course. But he will be more easilly avoided and maybe his manager will not feel confident putting big money behind him again.
I still don`t see Tyson Fury wanting to face him though .... Fury too is an accident waiting to happen.

I'm a fan of David's - he is a consummate professional and decent guy.
But like he said in the build-up show, the fact he was decked so many times as an amateur, about 12 times - and then knocked out in a round by Cammarelle - ensured no promoter was bothered about him , except for Haymaker promotions.
Now he's been blown away by a fringe world contender does nothing but cement the fact he struggles to take any punch from the neck upwards.
It's a pity really.

It is a pity as he has a lot going for him and seems a really decent man. When they are really big/tall it always seems worse when they get dropped; it's very dramatic and even if they are not badly stunned they look stricken.

Price should fight a no-hoper then go after somebody like Malik Scott. If he can't handle that, he should seek out a new career.
I was not shocked last night but I was very disappointed, mainly for the overall HW scene, but also because Price is such a decent dude.

Jesus Christ let's not get carried away. Garcia was pretty fecking
awful man. He got his lights put out by Garing Lane & Mike Dixon. Pretty harsh on Thompson as well!
Any version of Price would smash Garcia to bits... Although he might get flattened trying! I'd love to see that actually.
PS: Garcia traded solely on ethnicity & novelty value. Again, I don't think Price does.

It wasn't no slip , as someone else said the funny thing is the knockdown Fury had on him was similar to what he got starched with last night :)

I was comparing Garcia's not jumping on big paydays and getting whacked for no money to Price and Fury's stalemate.
Garcia was better than you're giving him credit for - and he got KOd by a huge thumping left to the temple by Dixon. Dixon's shot was way better than Thompson's. And he got up and took a barrage more before it was stopped. So I guess he was better than Pricey!

I think whoever catches Price with a half decent shot to the side of the head is gonna knock him out ,hes got no punch resistance at all.

Its amazing how many people are finding so many faults with Price, yet nobody saw it coming. Agree with miss Nield. Prices chin is no worse than Wlads, needs to develop a spiteful jab and a long game mentality.
Safety first.
As a side, khan price similarities? Excellent offensively, poor in the whisker department.

I really think Price can still be a world champion. I don't think he's chinny. It was an awkward shot that clearly damaged his ear.
Agree with Wales, he need to stop pawing with the jab and make it a weapon.
I was at the fight and he looked sharp in the first round, quick and very good foot movement for such a big guy.
Write him off all you want.
