Agree. News like this really makes me question whether boxing is justifiable. Its not like the accountant example at all. It is a brutal sport and the intent of each competitor is to harm the other. I honestly don't think there is a compeeling argument against banning boxing even though I'm a fan.Khaosai-Galaxy wrote:sucracristo wrote:people in this thread who were there said he hadn't been hit hard, yet.Khaosai-Galaxy wrote: It just shows that even with all the advances the sport has made in regards to medical access and monitoring, boxing is still a tough, tough way to make a living.
non boxers die of clots while jogging who seem perfectly healthy.
you hear about something like this more when a boxer goes down in
a fight than when an accountant crumples during a jog or bench
pressing at the gym.
.
Yes indeed, but lets face it, boxing involves punching people in the head and the recent studies about the long term effects of sub concussive blows to the head is quite disturbing.
It's not really an arguable fact that boxing is tough, dangerous and requires a hell of a lot of courage.
I also think fans, fighters and trainers are entirely delusional about the effects of boxing. Keep saying it but a study of 36 deceased NFL players' brains recently showed every single one had signs of brain damage. And they wear state of the art helmets! Boxing catches up to you and there is no way at all I'd allow my son to do it.

the only argument against the banning of boxing is that it's the greatest sport in the world
