I have been corrected on this as apparently they are recognised by the BBBofC, but as I had said previously they are not a member of the EBU as only one organisation from any country is allowed to apply - the BDB is already with the EBU so the GBA can't be

As far as I understand the situation the GBA will be sending over inspectors but the main officials are all ex-BBBofC

So are you saying that the GBA is something like the EBF ?

Quite an interesting situation, eu laws allow for this to happen, not much the board can do to stop it, with the exception of making life difficult for those that take part. Not convinced they could 'ban' a boxer that takes part, everyone needs to earn a living afterall, and it could be an abuse of power to do so.
If BB can get some ex BBBofC officials / refs signed up then this could work long term, convincing BBBofC licensed managers to have their boxers take part on shows might be difficult as they will likely just want an easy life, but there are enough pros not doing much, ex pros currently on the unlicensed circuit, as well as young guys fighting unlicensed and amateur that might not care if they can never fight for a British title (especially if they can fight for WBF World titles and the like, and the bragging rights of being a 'World Champion', good enough for Audley and many others with the WBU) that this could work out. Doesn't really matter as long as it's as safe as one would expect from a BBBofC show.
My two cents and my first post

How do we ascertain who is recongnised by the Board? I thought the Haye v Chisora/Lux box show was on safe ground as Luxembourg were affiliated with the EBU and the Board would have contradicted its own rules by taking any action against boxers involved in the show. The GBA aren't in the EBU so will the Board be free to deal with anyone involved as they see fit? I know there are EU trade laws to deal with too. As said I think it depends on how the GBA are affiliated/recongnised by the Board that is key here.

Good point, it seems fair to assume that the board may no longer recognise the GBA after the event, however prior to they had allowed GBA licensed boxers to compete in the UK, so clearly up to this point they have recognised the GBA.
It seems impossible to know how the BBBofC will react, but taking on the fact that they even enlisted the assistance of the EBU to add weight behind their argument with regards to Iain Weaver, in order to persuade the Spanish to revoke his license, I suppose there is a chance that they will make some kind of stand against BBBofC license holders that take part on the event - however should they feel that is the route they wish to take I expect there will be a few court actions against the BBBofC and as you stated with the current EBU trade laws I would expect the BBBofC to be facing some rather hefty legal costs.

Fair comment mate and lets not forget should there be any litigation whatsoever that both parties would be at risk of massive legal bills should they lose Lets hope that its all sorted out amicably before it gets to the stage

If it wasnt enough that we have all these split titles. Super, bronze, silver, gold, WBO European, Intercontinental, Emeritus, Super Champ we now have split bodies/unrecognised commissions.
No wonder everyone I speak to doesnt understand boxing anymore!

Did the EBU kick Luxembourg out before this event took place or after?

Yes I think the Insider is correct about that so it looks to be a different set of circumstances this time as I beleive the GBA are not affiliated to the EBU

But are affiliated to the board as both are recognised by WBO, WBA, IBF, IBO.
The board recognise them as they have allowed GBA fighters to fight in the UK.

Yes, its now different set of circumstances as the GBA are outside the EBU unlike LuxBox at the time of the Haye/Chisora bill. As a manager I would be anxious for my BUI licenced boxer to go on this show until I knew for 100% what the ramifications were. But I am broadly in support of the show, and will likely be in attendance.
BoxRec listed and verified the GBA show I was at in Malta and this seems the exact same situation as the Malta Boxing Commision weren’t involved or supporting this show at the time. So will be interesting to see if BoxRec remain consistent or show a BBBoC bias!?

The BBBofC accepted GBA licensed boxers to fight in the UK on BBBofC shows, so they either accept and recognize them as a professional boxing body or dont. If its the latter then they allowed BBBofC licence holders to fight unlicenced fighters (in their eyes) on professional shows. If its the former then this is a fully sanctioned show that should be recognized by the bbbofc.
To my knowledge Timo Hoffman is GBA licenced boxer and participated in prizefighter exactly 2 months ago.
The GBA wasnt part of the EBU 2 months ago, so nothing has changed.
I feel the act of allowing mr Hoffman to participate is in itself an aknowledgment of their acceptance of the GBA as a professional body.
Thats my 2 cents and the reason why im happy for my boxer to participate in this.

I e.mailed the updated information to John at BoxRec, as he eventually listed Luxembourg as the sanctioning body I would expect that he will list it on the BoxRec listing.

Fascinating stuff. It'll be interesting to see how the Board react to this. If action is not taken, or more to the point CAN'T be taken it really does set a national president. It will show that you don't have to be a licence holder associated with a large promotional company that has the finacial/legal clout to seek out alternative governing bodies.

Well that is interesting. I didn’t think you could fight with a GBA licence because I heard of a last replacement landing over to UK last year with a GBA licence and he couldn’t fight with it. I could be wrong but I think it was a Maloney show.
I’ve just spoken to Gary Hyde, Iain Weavers manager/adviser, and will be meeting him at the weigh in so should have video and interviews from that later in the weekend.
