Terry O'Connor referee for this one, thought they might go neutral - Tough fight to pick just not sure how Nathan takes this kids power, if he takes it without any problems I think he wins on points, the challenger does seem to hit very very hard though.

El Tel has the main job in the ring and the judges are as follows
M Alfredo Polanco from Mexico, Jose Ignacio Martinez from Spain and Zoltan Enyedi from Hungary.

So? As was Stevenson.
Dawson, Hopkins, Pascal and Cleverly himself haven't spent their entire career at LH.
Anyway, I'm flip flopping slightly about this one. Today, thinking Cleverly does it.

For someone who doesn't hate Cleverly you go on about him a hell of a lot and guessing you are from the UK? Why would you want Kovalev to win?taffytoon wrote:Tell you what, if Nathan wins you leave the forum, if Kovalev wins I will leave.Riddick Blowe wrote:He so fast, he make medicine sick, he so mean, he fvck up the lights then go to bed, he gonna hit Cleverly so hard it gonna shake his kinfolk in Cefn Forest

Go on Terry lad... Terry wont be scared of him. He has a better stoppage record than Wilder, and more dangerous, especially at home. WAR Terry!!!!!GlobalBox wrote:Terry O'Connor referee for this one, thought they might go neutral - Tough fight to pick just not sure how Nathan takes this kids power, if he takes it without any problems I think he wins on points, the challenger does seem to hit very very hard though.

Ooooooo a mystical "leave and never come back" challenge. I though these were just myth and folk lore. :-)taffytoon wrote:Tell you what, if Nathan wins you leave the forum, if Kovalev wins I will leave.Riddick Blowe wrote:He so fast, he make medicine sick, he so mean, he fvck up the lights then go to bed, he gonna hit Cleverly so hard it gonna shake his kinfolk in Cefn Forest

I still fancy Clev for this. Kovalev is aggressive and can certainly bang but Nathan is a clever lad (no pun) who has the skills, speed and engine to win this. He could make Kovalev look clumsy and lumbering if he utilizes what he's got. I just hope he doesn't switch into Macho mode and got toe to toe. I'm not as confident as taffy or RB on my selection but I expect Nathan to win with the farmers, miners, and daffodil eaters behind him.

Tell you what, you army of angry Welsh fans are incredibly nationalistic and defensive.WelshJack wrote:For someone who doesn't hate Cleverly you go on about him a hell of a lot and guessing you are from the UK? Does it occur to any of you that I might want Kovalev to win because I like him as a fighter and I think he has more potential in the sport than Cleverly?
I am indeed from the UK. That doesn't mean I have to support Cleverly just because he is British.
Another reason I am rooting for Kovalev: the allegedly machine. I simply don't like the way this man goes about promoting boxing. In my opinion it is a very cynical way indeed. I think Eddie Hearn's approach is better for the fans and in the main I will support his fighters. Not going into details because I can't be bothered, but the upshot is that I don't believe Cleverly is this big ticket fighter that Frank wants him to be. I don't know just how popular he is in Wales, I don't really care, all I know is I believe he is limited and it's only right that he gets beaten by a true world-class fighter to expose the chicanery of him being represented as a 'world champion' when he, in my opinion, is nothing of the sort.
Is that a good enough explanation? Why do I feel like I have to defend myself at all? Who knows. What I will say is that if Nathan wins in a fair manner (that doesn't include EL TEL anxiously stepping in prematurely after some pitty pat flurries from Nate) then I will gladly come in here and give him credit, while you drones will no doubt be hurling vitriolic, self-satisfied abuse at me.
If Kovalev wins I will say NOTHING (apart from in my betting thread).

Not supporting certain fighters because of who their promoter is? That's ridiculous, but I don't find it all surprising with some of the stuff you read on here, you'd almost think Warren had shagged your mam and never phoned her.
Also, it's hilarious reading you trying to take the moral high ground with some of the comments you've made.

How is justifying supporting Kovalev because I prefer him as a fighter taking the moral high ground? I'm sure Cleverly is a nice guy but I think he represents a lot of what's wrong with boxing, and FW is a part of that. And why do I have to justify it anyway? Because there is an unwritten assumption that you have to support your own nationality in sport no matter what?SNG wrote:Not supporting certain fighters because of who their promoter is? Maybe this is why some of the good American posters on the current scene (I said good ones) are so bemused by some of the postings on this forum. When at its best, that forum assesses fighters on their merits, not their nationality.
Re: Clev - this will be a "Calzaghe vs Lacy" repeat happening
Don't talk that shite at me, I'm not a fan of either fighter, and I certainly don't support people because of where they're from. I never said you had to justify anything, I'm merely responding to what you already wrote, so nice try.Riddick Blowe wrote:How is justifying supporting Kovalev because I prefer him as a fighter taking the moral high ground? Umm, why is it taking the moral high ground to be gracious in defeat? I was making a point that if Cleverly wins in a legit manner I would give him the respect he would deserve, IE he will have proved himself. I'd like to think Cleverly's fans would do the same post-fight should Kovalev win.SNG wrote:Don't talk that shite at me, I'm not a fan of either fighter, and I certainly don't support people because of where they're from. Re: Clev - this will be a "Calzaghe vs Lacy" repeat happening
Does this mean - assuming Kovalev is Lacy - he comes complete with a screaming bint?
Re: Clev - this will be a "Calzaghe vs Lacy" repeat happening
It's taking the moral high ground because of the comments you've already made, and the assumption that that they will drone on hurling vitriolic, self satisfied abuse as you put it whilst you will 'say NOTHING'. Go back and read your comments in this thread and the other, you've hardly been gracious in your predictions.Riddick Blowe wrote: Umm, why is it taking the moral high ground to be gracious in defeat? There is plenty of evidence to suggest they would do that. Read some of the comments from the Welsh people. It's not assuming.SNG wrote:It's taking the moral high ground because of the comments you've already made, and the assumption that that they will drone on hurling vitriolic, self satisfied abuse as you put it whilst you will 'say NOTHING'. Why have I not been gracious in my prediction? I put forward an argument for why I think Kovalev will win early. What else did I do that wasn't gracious?
