hbo is "thunderously" happy.
Of course its not acceptable but this is the way boxing works, as we all know. The Irish Assassin wrote:Not surprised at all, but that doesn't make it any more acceptable.bengulnaci1 wrote:Why are people surprised by this? Chavez was never going to be allowed to lose this on points. Never.
Or maybe the graphic had the names switched.SouthpawStephen wrote:Dayum Son!!! It was Denkin's card that was 98-92..... Maybe he had the names switched.

[***] - definitive, [** ] - clear, but competitive, [* ] close round, [ ] nearly even I like that system you got there JCS. Pretty nifty.JCS wrote:I didn't score it live... but after I watched it, it felt like Vera won 6 rounds to me... MAYBE 7, but certainly not some huge blowout.
Upon re-watching and scoring it, honestly, I had it as a draw.
In addition to scoring it, I made a "power" system -- represented by asterisks.. from 3 - definitive round, to 0 - nearly even. It was not surprising, that I had zero rounds as definitive.
Interesting to note that I had nearly even rounds at 1 a piece, but had Chavez taking 2 of the 3 "clear, but competitive" rounds.Code: Select all

Thanks. I've done something like this before, but not quite to this extent. Seemed to be the best way to display my thoughts without going into uber-detail.gilgamesh wrote:I like that system you got there JCS. I try to do something similar these days, but not quite so elaborate. When I score the rounds one way or another, I put an asterix beside the rounds I felt like could've arguably gone either way.
Gives you a better idea of what kind of scorecards you can expect when the final tally comes up.
Of course sometimes they're so off the mark you don't see how they got there at all...like 98-92 Chavez for instance. There's no way to justify that score.
