He was a very good boxer and he was thrown to the wolves (Tyson) by his handlers, I wonder how he is now, if he's happy and contented?

From that kickstarter I can see time has not been kind to him, moreover they want to raise [more] money to interview Meldrick Taylor...well I think we can all see where that's headed.

I'd imagine he spiralled back into drug hell and has surfaced a few times only to get sucked back in.

I'm half tempted to chip in, just to hear Meldrick talking about black Jesus and his custard.

I don't see a heavyweight from the last 30 years capable of beating a 21, 22 year old Tyson. In fact, the only heavyweights ever that I would give a chance are Ali, Louis and Marciano.
id put frazier in that too and maybe lennox lewis if lewis fought his fight.
I thought about those two, but Frazier was another pressure fighter, but I feel Tyson was the better of the two, would be one of my all time fantasy fights though, that one had everything needed to be an absolute war, but I'd take Tyson on points over 12, or a late stoppage over 15. Lewis would have been chopped down by the body shots and stopped late, although if the Lewis that lost to McCall and Rahman showed up, he doesn't last 3 rounds.

It's not wise to underestimate how difficult a customer Wlad would be for Tyson. He jabs hard and accurate, his hands are fast, he boxes tall, he gets away with all kind of cheating from range-finders to jab-grab.

You look at how Sanders-Wlad went you don't give Wlad a prayer but he's twice the fighter now given the huge improvement he's made to his game.

I voted Tyson, i think with his energy and classic Patterson/Cus style he'd find his way beneath the jab, but with an unbiased viewpoint, i wouldn't write Wlad off completely, if he controls a slow pace and fustrates Mike like Holyfield did, Wlad KO'ing a increasing fustrated and ill-dicsiplined Tyson with a straight right is a viable outcome.

A prime Vitali-Tyson is a more interesting match-up to me. Unlike his brother Vitali has a rock-iron chin that stood up to some of the sickest shots I seen Lennox land. If Vitali could handle the power early on, that fantasy match-up could well be an all time great war of wills mid-late rounds.

I agree it's more reasonable to suggest Vitali had a chance against Tyson, just down to Vitali's toughness and awkwardness. that would probably justify an 80/20 split in favour of Tyson I think.

He made crazy money back then.

Floyd's purse vs Cotto was $32 million, Tyson made $20 million for his fight with Spinks in 1988.

Not strictly true, Smith and Tucker, both over 6'4", took him 12 rounds and Tyson looked pretty average. Plus Douglas also 6'4" beat him. Wlad is a very awkward fighter, uses his weight and size quite effectively so is capable of making it a tough fight especially as Tyson did tend to run out of ideas as fights went on. Saying that I still see Tyson knocking him out.

He got over $40m for Alvarez, $80m if you chuck in all the PPV revenue and gate etc and it could still rise to $100m if it breaks 2.5m buys. If a fighter who isn't a heavyweight can make that today, in these times when everyone is complaining about money and the banks are still supposedly in free-fall, then a heavyweight would be raking it in. I think Wlad got nearly £21m for the purse for Povetkin alone, god knows what it was with everything else bunged on top.

The interest is always with the Heavyweights. People want to see people get KTFO. Tyson was getting big money from the PPV revenue post-prison for fighting bums and cans, Christ he got $30m for beating Bruno the second time round and he didn't even hold any belts.

The record for PPVs was dominated by Tyson for years, broken only by DLH and subsequently Mayweather - Primarily broken due to the lack of a bankable star at heavyweight.

Bigg's management apparently threw him in with Tyson as a shit or bust move, because bigs was out whoring and snorting coke like there was no tomorrow, and was going to nosedive some time soon anyway.

this was a good fight and he got pop shotted by arguably the best jab there has ever been in the game for the first few rounds,i wonder what would of happened if his arm didnt get tangled in the rope before the knock out?

Wlad and Pabon by the old clincheroo with a borrrrrrring 12 round decision. Any decent ref, say Dave Dunbar, and Tyson shouts Timberrrrrrrr! just before Klitschko falls in the 6th or 7th round after taking a beating to the belly.

This is a terrible matchup for Wlad... And he would get knocked out early.

people forget he only really looked immense against slow chubbers. David haye would probably have done him.

wlad would early on would have got dropped but wlad now would just spoil and win.
Tyson beat everyone in front of him in his day until he was past his best,

david haye wouldn't last 3 rounds with tyson ........

wlad has 90% of what it takes to beat tyson but he's missing one vital thing a iron jaw . if you gave wlad his brothers chin he would have a good chance but as he is i'd fancy tyson inside 3 rds.

Haye's speed and movement could mean that he last longer than Wlad would against Iron Mike.

Tyson would have walked straight through Haye. Haye wouldn't have even fought him.

Haye isn't that quick, Wlad consistently beat him to the Punch, Tyson would have been way way too fast for him. Tyson's hands were every bit as quick as Ali's and his footwork was extremely effective in closing the gap.

I'd have gone for a 1st round blowout, Haye just isn't a goer as a heavyweight, hes always been up against it as he's not built like a true big man. He's got a lot bigger with weights, but his frame is not that big.
