Froch batters Chavez Jnr and gets a squeaky decision. Ticks off Vegas on his career highlight video.
Groves fights Kessler, stops him
Froch fights Ward, in attempt to 'Lennox' his record, loses comprehensively.
Groves fights DeGale
Froch fights Groves in massive fight at a stadium in 2015.
Froch retires win lose or draw.
Just a theory.

I'm learning that very quickly! I would like to know what excuses these same people will find if Froch beats him if the rematch does happen??? "Eddie paid Groves to be less good" "Froch must be on something" "George was clearly still upset from the 1st one"

As long as the referee gives Groves the same chance to recover and fight back as he gives Froch then I'd imagine there'd not be a lot said.

I think there's almost always something regardless of the ref. I bet a few will say "Groves wasn't as good as we thought" instead of conceding that Froch is just that good. Like I said, searching for the negative.

People seemed to quickly forget it was Froch who was coming on strong in the fight (as he always does) and that he showed the heart of a lion to get to that point in the contest. I still fail to see what Carl's done to provoke such a reaction, it's not even like he's ruled out a rematch

Pre and post fight he talked Groves down and gave no respect to him; he reckoned that he did Groves in and put on some sort of masterclass. He also said recently that he left Groves down and out, that Groves was absolutely gone. If Groves is domestic level as Froch said pre bout then Carl ought to be very careful who he boxes in future.

It wasn't just Froch saying Groves wasn't world level. I think that was a fair comment seen as George hadn't really proved otherwise until that night. And since when has everyone been so sensitive to what fighters say pre-fight? Groves wasn't exactly a saint either (get it? 8) ). And the post fight interview was no where near as bad as people are making out. I clearly remember him saying that its incredible what Groves did at 25 and there's no way he was capable of such a performance at that age (admitting that Groves is better for his age than Froch was). Not exactly the most cocky/deluded/self-indulgent comment I've ever heard!

A boxer getting shown up by underplaying his opponent and then compounding the effect by denying he'd been in any bother?

Are you ignoring my post? Froch wasn't licking George's arse but why should he? He did however give him a big compliment which everyone seems to ignore. He'd also just been hit hard a fair few times in the face. I can honestly forgive him for not being 100% media savvy!

I didn't mean to ignore your post and apologise it looks that way  ; I can accept that Froch is more a fighter than a media expert and I think it's just that something how he comes across rubs me the wrong way. He is a little too humourless and comes across very big headed; I like my sporting heroes with their feet on the ground and not too self referential. The biggest compliment Froch is giving Groves though is his unwillingness to rematch him; to give Froch the respect he deserves he will face anyone and that he seems reluctant to have another run out with Groves for big money is a massive compliment.

Froch has plenty of other fights in his career which will eclipse the lack of a rematch with Groves.

Nobody really talks about Calzaghe's failure to rematch Reid any more.

Yes, I believe it's a shame that the rematch didn't happen, but I can't hold it against Carl after the career he's had.
one thing, calzaghe-reid wasn't that good a fight. and also, reid didn't have that much potential to be a big star, despite being a good fighter (whom some feel beat both of his era's dominant super middle champs, calzaghe & ottke).

Froch may have more options than Groves but Groves has far more audience recognition than he did before the Froch bout. I half hope that Groves goes another way and leaves Froch to his devices; there's no way on earth Froch will beat Ward and there's no way on earth Ward will box over here or that the PPV will be bigger than for a Groves rematch. A Bika bout may as well be in a wrestling ring and any boxing purist or fan ought not to watch. Chavez is a name fighter who has had plenty of hometown decisions, he'll not box in Nottingham - and there's a good chance Froch would beat him and lose on points (a la Brian Vera).

Groves gave Froch a lot of grief and Froch and McCracken know it, Groves is more than a decade younger and has time on his side whereas Froch is looking to cash on out.
yes, this is the problem I've seen with froch. his eye doesn't seem to be on the ball especially not tactically and - at least to me - it didn't seem to be prior to the ward fight. his comments in the build up turned me off the whole fight: he basically said his reach would be too big for ward. I thought: "so you're going to let ward dictate the pace; you're going to wait, and let him box around you, & maul you up close, ON HIS TERMS." when the only way would've been to try & wear the man down with sensible pressure, including body punches.

The problem Froch has is that so much of his legacy is built on his willingness to fight anyone, anywhere. Not fighting Groves would be a big blow to that, especially considering the money that would be on offer for a rematch. If he went on to fight Chavez Jr or Bika, it would rip so much of that apart, especially after the first opportunity he had for a voluntary defence was against Yusuf Mack, a light heavyweight who hadn't made 12st in 5 years, had been stopped by every reputable fighter he has faced and has lost his next two fights by wide margins on points. I just hope he fights Groves so I can see him knocked out after nearly 10 years of waiting.

You were waiting for Froch to be knocked out when you were five? What upset you about him then?

He hadn't turned pro when I was 5, more like 9, I just didn't like the way he called out Calzaghe constantly when he didn't deserve the fight and would have taken an absolute pasting.

Like Evans Ashira did ?

Joe Calzaghe has won more mythical fights than he ever did in real life.

He's had 40 turds baked into a 46 fight career.

Nah, Ashira saw the final bell, more like Lacy but with the corner doing the compassionate thing and saving a tough man, but completely outclassed in all departments from further unnecessary punishment.
