In another 5 weeks not even his staunchest, shiny new fans will be thumping their keyboards across forums and twitter for the perceived 'injustice'.

There is a fine line between sympathy and playing on it.

And Groves is well into the latter now.

If you want to give it to someone on achievement, you gotta give it to Froch. He beat Kessler and then backed that up with a tough win over Groves. If you want to give it to someone based on something above and beyond just the win and loss column then surely you have to give it to Murray. Going to Argentina and putting in the type of performance he did against Martinez is much more impressive than out boxing Froch for 5 or 6 rounds.

This post should end the thread I feel.

Not really any case that can be made for Groves above this.

I agree 100% mate. He fought a hell of a fight, but surely you don't think he is fighter of the year.

Hehehe, very good; he's also gained a load new fans and is a far better known fighter on the back of the performance and the stoppage; he didn't get a pasting so he's done well for a loss.

As far as losses go, it couldn't have worked out better for him. I wish him luck..... but he ain't the fighter of the year.

Still can't quite get my head around Groves as top choice but nevertheless I was wondering about the first Chavez-Taylor fight and would/did anybody make a case for Taylor being 1990's Fighter of the Year (given that Chavez received the award from The Ring and KO magazine) - not quite the same scenario but some similarities there I guess.

George has shown he is a good operator and the Froch fight showed he is very good fighter.
I think Froch next performance is the one to watch, is he finished?

Froch has clearly peaked and if every Froch fan was honest they would agree we have seen the best of him ... he has had some brilliant fights ... deserve every bit of credit which comes his way.

As far as Groves is concerned lets see his progression in 2014 ... he must get that self discipline that when he has the fight more or less won not to get involved in a pointless toe to toe battle ... I will absolutely guarantee he did not keep to the fight plan, and therein lies his downfall ... all a fighter has to do during fight week is wind him up, then draw him into a battle in the actual fight ...

Froch can be proud of himself that he has achieved a lot more than most fighters have, I think he deserves his huge pay day and my view is he should fight the highest bidder, if that is Groves so beit ... if not f*ck it he has beaten him already.

That is a pretty honest appraisal and he ought to get a lot of credit, he does come across as a nob head though.

I hope 2014 puts up some great fights and there are some fantastic fighters in the SuperMiddle division to provide them.
