Oh dear Tomasino.
Let me put it like this.
I tend to take the word of people when I hear it direct from the horse's mouth. Could be seen as excuse making I grant you but when this rematch happens later this year I am convinced you will see an improved Carl Froch.
Preparation for a fight isn't all about physical preparation and being in peak condition. Mentally you have to prepare as well and have the right mind set.

Watch the fight back & you'll see froch couldn't even see the right hand counters coming it was target practice for groves, I was shocked & like everyone else couldn't predict that dominance.[/quote]
I contribute. You do plenty rubbishing your self and post lots of shite. Ginger child in foster care? fornicate me
You got nothing better to do then rubbish people's comments & not contribute any of your own.Tomasino wrote:hubrlock wrote:What because he done abit of dancing???Parson Cross wrote:James,

He knows it, the camp knows it.
Froch stays at home for camps,& that's where he is comftable. He lives the life & was in terrific shape for the fight as his little black book suggests.Groves had hearings from the board & changed trainers had no promoter & was worse off imo.
Groves is all wrong for froch who's defence was badly exposed he was holding his right glove infront if his face like a ginger child in foster care & attempted to put both gloves up I some of the rounds to try & protect himself he was out of sorts in a bad way, but showed great grit & strength to pull through in the hardest night of his life, the rematch will be just as hard & I think he knows he will have to walk through the fire again, does he need it anymore??
With that line of utter nonsense, you have outdone yourself.

You must be mistaking me for someone else. I've supported Froch before and after the fight. I thought he was going to stop George before the ref jumped in. My dad and bro did too. I think George did well but couldn't finish Froch when he was out on his feet. It was a punch that Carl did not see and how he recovered from it I don't know but he did, and won.
I reckon he will beat Groves better next time.

You're right mate. I apologise. That was a response to hurlocks post.
Re: Any update on Froch/Groves II - inside info anyone?
If there's a rematch I think they will take totally different approaches, but I can't see what froch can really change??
Parsons & tomasino what will or can he do differently to make it easier???
I personally felt groves paced himself well & wasn't really gun ho like he said he was & I predicted froch in the third quarter & said groves would be dangerous early doors.
I think froch will stop him again late as I don't think groves can maintain the intensity which is required to defeat froch with his style.but the question is how much left as froch got??? Could he overcome another onslaught???

Re: Any update on Froch/Groves II - inside info anyone?
I honestly think Froch thought he would walk through George's punches and KO him easily. He then walked right onto a bomb that he never seen and spent the next 5 rounds soaking up severe punishment all the while actually recovering. When he was full steam ahead and Groves was tired, it was game over. If Carl can avoid going to war early, soak up George's best like he knows he can, then turn it on from 8 or 9 then the fights his again.
Groves did great, was really impressed and a little shocked, however I don't think he can do any better and so he gets beaten again. I hope Groves keeps his mouth shut long enough for the rematch to get signed as the ball is in Carls court.

Re: Any update on Froch/Groves II - inside info anyone?
Agree 100%. Froch didn't expect Groves to hit that hard. It's a shame the pre-mature end brought heavy criticism on Carl because 99% of fighters wouldn't have got through those first 5 rounds. A mixture of Froch being extra slow while recovering and Sky's terrible commentary meant that the majority of the public seem to think Groves is superman and suffered a terrible injustice and Froch is terrible/past it and is the luckiest man alive. The reality is that Froch forced the ref to make a knee-jerk decision with 4 or 5 hard unanswered shots. The decision was too early but it's taken so much away from Froch's reputation and added so much to George's even though he lost. 10 seconds longer and we'd be questioning Grove's chin, stamina and whether he can go 12 rounds at world level. That said, i thought he was fantastic in the first half of the fight and certainly shocked me by dropping Carl.Tomasino wrote:I honestly think Froch thought he would walk through George's punches and KO him easily. i wasn't mad on how Froch was after the fight and i'm definately mega impressed with Groves but i too believe that Froch would have stopped Groves if the fight had gone on longer.
i do hope the rematch happens for sure

Do you think Groves had an ideal camp to prepare physically and mentally or is it just Froch (who had the same trainer, trained in the same gym as always and had improved his running times etc) who had a below par camp?

Re: Any update on Froch/Groves II - inside info anyone?
If this goes ahead, what a fantastic fight we're going to have. The atmosphere in the build up is going to be absolutely electric; it will be, in it's way, every bit as big as Benn Eubank - though of course boxing isn't as mainstream now as it was then.
I expect Froch to win again, possibly in similar fashion, though I think he's going to be well aware of Groves' fast start this time around - but the same thing could happen. In fact, I can see many different outcomes here, possibly Groves starts fast and keeps the pressure on Froch, and crazy as it may seem, stops Froch. Perhaps Froch starts faster and the two go to war early on, and Froch stops Groves fast.
Whatever the outcome, I for one simply cannot wait.

I hope it is a good fight, no one gets hurt and Groves knocks Froch out.

Spot on. Just shows you public perception is massive in sport. Carl won, came back from a beating like almost no one else in boxing can and he still gets severe grief because the ref fucked it up and Froch tried to defend himself straight after a very bruising battle. He felt he won, he felt he was going to KO groves anyway, so why say any different?

one things for sure...howard foster will not be the ref!!

Re: Any update on Froch/Groves II - inside info anyone?
Very true. I know what I saw in the fight. People making out Groves is the second coming or will go on to have a better career than Froch, beat Ward etc. are in for a shock IMO. Yes, he had a fantastic start but he definitely has stamina issue's at world level and he has the tendency to get into a war, such as Khan, which doesn't bode well.Tomasino wrote:Spot on. I would also like to see how Groves will react once he starts getting hit full force from Carl again say around the 6th round mark. It is the first time George has taken a beating of any real sort at Pro level, and before anyone says he didn't take a beating, well, look at his face at the end of the fight, that isn't the result of Carl combing his hair.
Groves can dress it up any way he wants but deep down he knows he won't beat Froch and just wants the big payday again. If he misses that payday, he may never get another one like it. He'll surely not be that excited about fighting for 10%-20% of that if the Froch fight doesn't happen. I think the whole event may have slightly spoilt Groves for the future post Froch.

Utter crap.ScottDetonator wrote: deep down he knows he won't beat Froch
He very nearly KO'd him in round 1 and was dominating the fight. Sure, Froch may have been coming back into it and may well have legitimately stopped him if the fight was allowed to continue but to suggest Groves "knows" he wont win is ridiculous. In fact I bet he is far more confident he will win this time than he was the last time. He now knows that he can hurt "iron chinned" Froch and he can outbox him.

Tomasino, I know what you are saying but I do disagree.Tomasino wrote:

He didn't just defend himself.... before getting booed himself he.
1) Refused to shake Groves' hand.
2) Said the stoppage was good - surely Froch had enough about him he could see that would anger than fans who were booing the stoppage (not Froch).
3) Did not acknowledge the fight as tough
4) Only gave groves grudging respect post fight.
Froch wouldn't have got booed but for the interview which was car crash.

Groves threw everything he had at Froch and couldn't stop him. We could have seen the best Groves has to offer right there and ultimately, it wasn't enough.doctorboxing wrote:He now knows that he can hurt "iron chinned" Froch and he can outbox him.

He never came close to stopping him. He hit him, hurt him, put him over. Froch got up, and was able to continue. Groves hit him with his best shots after that, and never came close to decking him again.

I'm sure I read on here from some that Groves actually knocked Froch out but 'he came round when he hit the canvas'
Froch suffered a big knockdown but not only got up he went straight back at him before the round was over!
Tough ain't the word

He had him down on the canvas and Froch was visibly shaken and whilst nobody knows, there is every chance he could have been stopped if there was a lot longer left in the round.jamesmcdonnell wrote:neverdoctorboxing wrote:Utter crap.ScottDetonator wrote: deep down he knows he won't beat Froch

Re: Any update on Froch/Groves II - inside info anyone?
I disagree with parsons on frochs mental aspect as I sadly watch interviews intently & I see froch as someone who is honest & meaningfull in what he says. He said he was supremely confident on defeating groves & somewhat riled in groves belief in himself he said the fact groves has got cocky has benefited his training camp by pushing himself & making sure no stone is left un turnt & groves is going to be in a world of pain!
Did doubts creep into frochs mind??? What would it be like to lose to this guy & have my pride ruined, did that eat him up???
Booth & haye know froch extremely well & how he struggled with crippling nerves in the ams despite being very successful groves knew how to play with frochs mind & I think he will make froch feel like the challenger if there's a return

"I had you on your arse, you were lucky to make it out of the round."
"Everyone knows I was kicking your arse before the referee saved you.."
"You got a shock last time, and you're going to get an even bigger shock this time, when I knock you spark out."
It's a tantalising prospect, and I think Froch's mental toughness will be sorely tested.
Re: Any update on Froch/Groves II - inside info anyone?
I'd of respected froch if he'd of applauded groves & admitted he got his ass kicked early on but like all good champions finds away to win.
Froch was still upset after the fight which showed how emotional the fight was to him & he was robbed of the respect of the win & groves won't allow him to in order for a return.
If Hearn can make this fight profitable for froch I'd guess he'd take it in a heart beat but to me it feels like froch is getting his hand forced slightly & has to deal with this with his head not his pride. The mans travelled all over the world been put over came back to win boxed the best in there back yard & reclaimed the title back 3 times in an incredible journey.he should make Hearn cough up, go public with the purse arrangements with groves offer if he believes he can truly win will be in the big time & it will paint a different picture of groves in the publics perception & he will get blamed for it not happening as he's playing a very clever game IMO .
Blame George groves lol

Bang on - there's all sorts going on behind this - this is a fight Carl doesn't actually need and probably doesn't want, so it's got to have serious financial appeal. Groves probably now thinks he deserves a big cut of the purse and so it's going to be tough to negotiate this to say the least.hurlock wrote:I'd of respected froch if he'd of applauded groves & admitted he got his ass kicked early on but like all good champions finds away to win.
