Millenium Stadium would be best imo, bang in the centre of Cardiff surrounded by loads of pubs, clubs, hotels etc, good transport links with the rest of the UK and a closing roof so adverse weather not an issue.

The 1st fight did 20k in 11 minutes. This one is miles bigger. Will do 40k in 1st day then snowball from there
The first fight did not legitimately do 20,000 in 11 minutes, there was whole blocks available for sale online within a day, of those who bought the tickets on the first day, most will have sold the tickets on for a profit. You're seriously overestimating the demand for the fight by believing fast car's figures.
There were no tickets left after 11 minutes. Touts or not that's some going. So yes it did legitimately sell out in 11 minutes. This is now on another level. It will do double that in the 1st day and then everyone will want to be part of "the event" your seriously underestimating the promotional job done on this fight. It's massive. People who don't have a clue about boxing want in on this. Everyone wants to be a part of something
It's not some going when for £600-£700 you can get a program that makes thousands of applications for tickets in seconds.
So 20k in 11 minutes isn't some going? Wether touts snapped them up or not doesn't even come into play. They only get involved when they can sniff a profit anyway so it just reinforces my point even more if anything

Re: Where do we think the Froch-Groves rematch is gonna end up?
How does that reinforce your point? Touts are about if there's a profit to be made, but it wasn't made the day the tickets went on sale, it was there to be made much closer to the fight as it was hyped up, they took a gamble after seeing the popularity of Froch-Kessler and that it was a domestic fight and bought large numbers of tickets in the hope it would turn into a big event. Without the touts there's no way the fight would have sold out in the first week, it's not unlikely that some tickets would only have been snapped up in the final week before the fight.jackukmma wrote: So 20k in 11 minutes isn't some going? Re: Where do we think the Froch-Groves rematch is gonna end up?
The fight sold 20k in 11 minutes. This fight is much much bigger. I'm not exactly sure what you are arguing about here
Re: Where do we think the Froch-Groves rematch is gonna end up?
For the last time, it didn't sell 20k in 11 minutes. For a start, thousands will have been kept back for Froch, Groves and the undercard fighters and of those sold, most went to touts who sold them on closer to the fight. It's like when they say a concert's sold out in 5 minutes, but then there's thousands available above face value on Ebay, stubhub etc. and there's touts selling tickets outside the arena. Let's look at it another way, Hatton-Tszyu sold out in 2 hours, you're saying that Carl Froch against George Groves, neither of whom were household names and probably never will be, sold out 10x quicker.jackukmma wrote:The fight sold 20k in 11 minutes. Re: Where do we think the Froch-Groves rematch is gonna end up?
Hatton-Kostya was 2005, a hell of a lot more people have internet access now, and far more accessible, on Phones, tablets etc so could buy the tickets at work or wherever. Jack is correct, the strength of the resale market just shows how popular the fight was, £40 tickets going for £100 all day long. If there's one thing I know about, it's tickets, and that was a sell out. Yes, you could always buy tickets right to the last, but that's the same with every event because everybody has there price. This event will be similar. They will go, wherever it is held.

Mickey's right.
There's no such thing as "can't get a ticket" it's all about what you're prepared to pay.
Let me ask you this - if there was a limit of 6 tickets per purchaser applied how quickly do you think tickets would go ?
Its sad but true that all the Promoter's know that the first wave of sales rarely hit Joe Public.

Yes. They want to be 'there'. And many will be naive as to what view they are going to get. I personally won't go unless it's a good seat.hurlock wrote:Mickey you mention tablets etc. the fact there's plenty of ways of to watch this fight would people want to attend especially if it means being in the heavens??

Wouldn't mind it at Portman Road the home of my beloved Blues, we are a bit tight for cash at our place and Magic Mick needs the dough so we can strength the squad for the playoff push for next season so I wouldn't mind our owner Marcus Evans getting on the old blower to Handsome Eddie and trying to make a few quid from it, although I must admit the nightlife in Ipswich is utter shite!! Realistically I expect it to be either Emirates or City Ground.

You can say that about any event anywhere in the world. Fact is it sold out in 11 minutes however you want to spin it. I'm not naive to believe a lot of those tickets didn't end up in the hands of touts. Again touts only get interested when they know there is a demand. That demand is much much bigger for this fight. Out of interest how many tickets you think this rematch does?
Re: Where do we think the Froch-Groves rematch is gonna end up?
THIS Hearn was shotting tickets after it 'sold out in 11 minutes' anyone who says otherwise is in denial.expe wrote:For the last time, it didn't sell 20k in 11 minutes. No way this ends up at the City Ground. Main stand there is hopeless for boxing, and the most they would be able to get in would be 25,000.
Hampden Park is shut while it is being rebuilt for the Commonwealth Games.
It is one of two places - Old Trafford or the Emirates

City ground seats over 30,500 for football, surely that means 35,000 - 38,000 for boxing ?gobbles wrote:No way this ends up at the City Ground. Main stand there is hopeless for boxing, and the most they would be able to get in would be 25,000.

They should put it on at the Copper Box. The place must be massive, cozz there's always loads of empty seats. ![[icon_e_confused.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif)

Chisora bless him, he only draws crowds when he gets glassed.handsofstone wrote:keithmoonhangover wrote:They should put it on at the Copper Box. The place must be massive, cozz there's always loads of empty seats. The atmosphere their on Saturday was abysmal
Re: Where do we think the Froch-Groves rematch is gonna end up?
I could imagine trouble in Nottingham if Groves won there. I think Groves has the physical tools to make the job easy. He needs to make it a boring fight. He needs to box and move. Engaging Froch in a fight is to play to his strengths. I also think the Millenium Stadium is too big for a boxing match.
Re: Where do we think the Froch-Groves rematch is gonna end up?
Not that easy because 1: some lower seats are unusable if people are on the pitch. 2: Just because people are on the pitch that does not raise capacity, because there is a safety certificate for only a certain amount of people. 3: Apparently the old main stand had loads of seats that can't be used for boxing because of terrible viewsjessi wrote:City ground seats over 30,500 for football, surely that means 35,000 - 38,000 for boxing ?gobbles wrote:No way this ends up at the City Ground. Re: Where do we think the Froch-Groves rematch is gonna end up?
If the seats can be used for football, they can be used for boxing, if there's a restricted view, the seats will be sold for less and there won't be loads, that main stand is the smallest in the ground and not every seat will be restricted. The lower seats can still be used, it's just that the view won't be great, no different to the front row of the raised seating in an arena. Hatton had 55,000 in at City and it only holds 47,000, the safety certificate won't be a problem, as long as there's enough exits so everyone can leave quickly if there's a fire or something like that.gobbles wrote:Not that easy because 1: some lower seats are unusable if people are on the pitch. Generally it seems that compared to football, boxing raises the capacity by at least 8,000, for the City Ground that would mean a capacity of 38,500 minimum.
