9 rounds to 0, Canelo was destroying him. It definitely should've been stopped.

I wouldn't say he was destroying him. If Angulo were being destroyed I think he would've been clearly hurt at some point and he probably wouldn't be consistently coming forward and throwing even near the end.

I also thought Angulo won the 8th

You're out of your mind man, his punches were like Firecrackers compared to Canelo's throwing Hand Grenades. He was just outmatched and outclassed all night. There was nothing left for him in there except 2 more rounds of beating.

Angulo was clearly hurt on more than one occasion in the bout.

Shame Angulo looked like such crap from the opening, he wasn't able to buy benefit of the doubt from Weeks. He needs to move up to 160 so he won't be drained to crap anymore.

When was he hurt? I didn't see him stagger, consistently hold, or clearly show other signs of being hurt once; Canelo's punches jarred him a few times but that is different than being hurt.

I just don't see how Angulo was destroyed/obliterated/annihilated when he was taking Canelo's punches totally fine and marching forward and throwing nearly the entire fight. I'll reserve terms like that for bouts such as Kovalev-Cleverly.

Angulo hardly showed any sign of being hurt or stunned just like Broner didn't, and neither of his eyes were closed in spite of the amount of punches he was hit with, Canelo's power is simply one of the many overrated things about the guy.

DW, you're smart enough to know the potential danger of cumulative damage, and where it would be in affect.

I agree he doesn't have big one shot KO kind of power, but those shots were hard and as I said, that's specifically why I thought it was a good stoppage. He was eating hard shots and was continuously outgunned. Not enough to put him down, but hard enough that they have a cumulative effect. Given that Angulo was really showing nothing back, I think it a good idea to prevent him from taking more damage for nothing. This wasn't a competitive fight. It's a guy getting hit for the sake of getting hit at that point.

I'm not even going to address the Malinaggi-Broner thing again, we both know that's silly.

Some things about Canelo are overrated, and some are underrated. It tends to even out in his case, in an odd way, I believe.

I'm personally shocked that anybody had any objection to that stoppage. Angulo was just a punching bag in there, and his punching power was pretty clearly not on the level of Canelo's at least in that particularly bout.

Angulo almost never landed a solid shot all night, and if he did, Canelo would land 3 or 4 right back. I don't doubt Angulo could've stayed on his feet until the end of the 12th round, but what would've been the point? He had no chance at all of victory, and it was plain to see.

Everyone who complained about the stoppage, this could've easily ended up like the heavyweight Magoo situation.
