Random Groves/Froch topics merged, they're all here
Re: behind the ropes
It reminded me of the footage of Khan sparring in the build up to Garcia and he was shown getting tagged and we all know what happened there!!

Re: behind the ropes
I'd be very surprised if the Eubank Jr rumours are true, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if Groves ko's Froch fairly easily, Froch has always been wide open & his punch resistance looked awful in their 1st fight.chrisbonnie wrote:that rumours over on eastside that Eubank Jr dropped froch in sparring.
And i have to say going by that footage of them on the behind the ropes episode it would not surprise me in the slightest. I thought Froch looked terrible.
Credit to him for getting through it, but I think he's getting knocked out badly on Saturday night.
What were the scores from the first fight?
Froch vs Groves 1 - What were the judges score cards at the time of the stoppage?

Re: What were the scores from the first fight?
From memory two judges had Groves 1 ahead and the other had Groves 5 ahead.
Re: What were the scores from the first fight?
76-75x2 and 78-73 all for Groves
I had it 78-73 Groves and the closest I could see is 77-74.

Re: What were the scores from the first fight?
76-75 is a mile out. I cannot for a second, see how you could possibly score it that close.
Many of those rounds were completely one sided.
sometimes when you watch a fight and a lot of the rounds were close, you see a score card that is 4 or 5 point different from your own and you can understand where a few rounds would have swung the other way,
but groves was dominant in the rounds he won. Think I might have to watch the re-run today

I had it 78-73 Groved at time of stoppage, wouldn't argue with 79-72
Re: behind the ropes
Awful?! He got dropped heavily by a shot which would knock out 95 % of fighters in all likelihood and then got hit with the kitchen sink for the next 6 rounds atleast. If that's awful punch resistance. God knows what good looks like.Boxerbeetle123 wrote:I'd be very surprised if the Eubank Jr rumours are true, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if Groves ko's Froch fairly easily, Froch has always been wide open & his punch resistance looked awful in their 1st fight.chrisbonnie wrote:that rumours over on eastside that Eubank Jr dropped froch in sparring.

Re: behind the ropes
I wouldnt read too much into that. Groves got beaten up by Eubank jnr in sparring before the first fight, im sure of it.

Re: behind the ropes
Ok awful was a bit strong, but to me he looked like he could have gone at any moment. Maybe I'm being a bit harsh on Froch, but there's surely no arguing that his punch resistance has got quite a bit worse - compare it to the 1st Kessler fight when he took massive shots for 12 rounds without taking a backward step.columbo wrote:Awful?! His legs buckled in the first Kessler fight though if you watch it back.Boxerbeetle123 wrote:Ok awful was a bit strong, but to me he looked like he could have gone at any moment. Re: behind the ropes
Because before one of his fights, might of been the first Froch fight actually they done another one of these shows and he was sitting down in a chair looking all pensive and the narrator said he'd just endured a torrid sparring session with Eubank jnr.crusader wrote:Why are you sure of it?columbo wrote:I wouldnt read too much into that. Anthony Joshua on at 6pm (or just after).
Virgil Hunter's take on the Froch-Groves rematch
He also believes Groves was really hurt in the 9th round http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4wUNyeuvl0
Re: Fight times for Froch VS Groves card this Sat?
I thought Joshua was at 6.30pm (and then the rest pretty much start on the hour)Go Faster Stripes wrote:Anthony Joshua on at 6pm (or just after).
Also noticed on matchrooms site this morning (although it was playing up) seems Joshua's fight now over 6 not 8. I know I know it probably won't matter.
Re: Virgil Hunter's take on the Froch-Groves rematch
So do i, his head had slumped and his arms were dangling down. But hey, George says he wasn't so he wasn't
Piece on Groves's in the dailymail
It's pretty interesting actually. Met his now wife when he was a toddler at nursery http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/boxing ... Froch.html

Re: Random Groves/Froch topics merged, they're all here
I must say, the way this has been merged together it has a lot more narrative cohesion than your average Boxrec thread.
Re: behind the ropes
Eubank JR caught him with a big right hand that would have taken his head off without the guardMarkMcBurney wrote:Watching Froch spar Eubank Jr, is it just me that thought Froch looked wide open??

So, when do we think the bell for the start of round one goes? About 10:30pm is my guess.TopGun wrote:9:45pm is Froch/Gorves ring walk.

Is there a clip of Carl sparring Eubank jnr anywhere? I missed the show but would like to see it if possible. Cheers.
