Nobody hates Leonard more than I, but he was far from overrated. One of the 25 or so greatest fighters in history.
I don't hate Leonard, but looking back at his career I think he was very good but not great!I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.
Leonard not great?

He was the best of the 80s!

It's the same nonsense people try to pull with Tyson/Holyfield. they were both past their best, Hearns just happens to be a stylistic nightmare for Leonard at any point in their careers. Particularly over 12 rounds.
I agree to that... We sometimes do not agree much, but in this case, like sometimes we do, I agree with you 100%. The great Sugar Ray Leonard gave Hearns the rematch because he thought that the great Thomas Hearns was washed up.

Yes he did. He said in the New York Post back in 1988. I read it. He said "Put Louis and Ali at the same age of 20 when I won the crown and both of them would get knocked out easily"

Regardless. That doesn't change Leonard's position at the time and frankly I doubt Ray thought of himself as being "prime" either.

I like my football smash mouth. (big Steeler fan)
I like my fighters primal, but at the same time, clean.
JF epitomized that.
