Re: Shawn Porter breaks down fight with Kell Brook

I'm not sore, I would probably cheer him on again against foreign opposition, from the comfort of my front room.
that would create some really interesting debates on here with shall we say predictable responses from different posterspalooka wrote:It stinks really, I can understand if Porter is getting a big money shot v Floyd but Brook is just left hanging. I thought his shot was nailed on, I wasn't sure he'd win but reckoned he'd give it a right go and if the shot gets taken away then it's a load of bollocks really. I can imagine Frankie Gavin getting a title shot before Brook and it's a shame.
Eddie is small fry to the big boys over there. He is more or less irrelevant.palooka wrote:A pro boxer needs to be active and months and months have been spent preparing for this shot, I imagined Eddie had a lot of clout. I hope the bout comes off and I hope Frankie beats Bundu (not a forgone conclusion) and gets a shot himself. If that comes before Brooks chance then questions have to be asked.
There's time for it to come right isn't there?
I reckon you are right mickey, I hope Brooks career isn't like Herol Grahams where he gets messed around until he's past his best. Welter is a brilliant division with big money fights out there, the politics etc is awful. I've had some spars with Kells crowd on here but I really hope this gets sorted for him and them, it's a waste of time and talent.mickey1975 wrote:Eddie is small fry to the big boys over there. He is a joke, even though all the problem is coming from Porters team. Makes sense that G.gilgamesh wrote:So are we looking at another Kell Brook cancellation?
God this guy is a joke. I wish he'd just get his shot, and get his ass kicked already so we can focus our attention on REAL fighters that actually fight.
Every single major fight the guy has ever been scheduled for has been cancelled. Almost all of them were his fault, this time may well be Porter's fault, but hell I don't know why Brook is a mandatory to begin with.DMA1987 wrote:He is a joke, even though all the problem is coming from Porters team. So Porter basically has 4 promoters, Golden Boy, Schaefer, Haymon and himself, and there's a power struggle going on between all of them. The Haymon stuff won't wash with the IBF, he doesn't have a promotional or managerial license in the US as far as I know, although I'm almost certain that he acts as both of those for a lot of fighters, he won't be contracted to Schaefer himself, because he doesn't have a promotional company currently, from what I can see the question is going to be whether he's contracted to Golden Boy, if he isn't, then they're unable to negotiate on his behalf, making any deal with Brook worthless. Throw in the added confusion of a potential Mayweather fight and it's still unknown who will promote his next fight, on paper at least and that like you say Golden Boy have an exclusive deal of some sorts with the Barclays Centre and you have a complete mindfuck. The IBF are probably going to have make a decision on all of this at some stage and whichever way that ruling goes, someone's going to be pissed off, who that will be remains to be seen.G0mez wrote:I'm pretty sure the whole split between Goldenboy / Oscar and Schaeffer/Haymon have impacted this.
Isn't it GBP that has some sort of agreement to air boxing at the Barclay's centre ?
Porter has insisted he is an Al Haymon fighter first and foremost - plus he is also a registered promoter himself, as he has his own registered promotional company.
He pulled out of the Alexander fight twice, Alexander pulled out once, at this stage it appears Porter has pulled out of this fight, so half of the pullouts haven't been his fault. He's won three eliminators for the IBF title, 2 of them final eliminators, that's how he's mandatory. Have you ever actually seen him fight?gilgamesh wrote:Every single major fight the guy has ever been scheduled for has been cancelled. I don't know how you can be a #1 contender to any title when your biggest claim to fame is how much you DON'T fight.
I don't give a damn who's fault it is. I'm sick of this Kell Brook guy. Put him in the Ring with a legit Top 10 guy. He'll get his ass kicked, and we can all move on with our lives.
No ,and from the looks of it. I'm never going to either.expe wrote:He pulled out of the Alexander fight twice, Alexander pulled out once, at this stage it appears Porter has pulled out of this fight, so half of the pullouts haven't been his fault. That said I think it's brooks manager to blame not Eddie ... Not sure who that is ?sweetscience wrote:Eddie should have demanded the initial fight deadline date of 19th July
He has sacrificed brook for matchrooms future relationships with golden boy/Schaffer
Too true mate, like to see both get a shot.Counter-puncher wrote:that would create some really interesting debates on here with shall we say predictable responses from different posterspalooka wrote:It stinks really, I can understand if Porter is getting a big money shot v Floyd but Brook is just left hanging.
