Seriously, if Haye had done the same, you wouldn't hesitate to accuse Haye of ducking.

Truth is Mickey, you are completely biased towards Fury .I'll be cheering him on against Chisora, but I know he ducked Price. You know how I know that? Because he did.
So he'd fight him for nothing at 17 but wouldn't as a grown man for a fortune? Maybe Mick didn't want it, but Tyson would fight anyone.
Point is mickey. He DIDN'T fight him. Ultimately Tyson makes all the decisions. It's his final decision. It's his signature on the contract. Not Mick's.

Are you really that stubborn to think Fury didn't duck Price.

He did fight him and put him on the floor. It's his signature, but what can he do if Mick Hennessey doesn't put a contract to fight David Price in front of him? You sign promotional and managerial contracts, they give the promoter and manager the choice of who you fight and when, especially at that stage of his career, Tyson will have had very little input into who he fought.

Bollocks. Here's how it could have gone......

Mick: I want you to vacate the British and Commonwealth Titles and avoid David Price, because of your TV deal and there isn't much money in it.

Tyson: No.

Mick: It's a bad idea.

Tyson: I don't care, I'll fight anyone. I want to fight Price.

Mick: It'll end up going to purse bids.

Tyson: Let it, I'm not vacating. That's it. End off.

Keith, I think you know most fighters would fight anyone, managers are there to manage. I KNOW he would have fought Price, like he did at 17 when Price was a fully grown man and established England rep.

Spot on. People change the rules when it suits them.

Fury vacated the titles instead of facing Price. I have no dog in this fight, its clear as effing day to me. He did it to avoid Price. Simple.

I think his team convinced him to go "another route" ( basically a much easier, shitty route at the time ) and Fury himself would have taken it but its in black and white. Price was mandatory, Fury dropped the titles. Its simple.

Makes e chuckle when people try to defend it. Pull your tongue out his arse. You don't have to be ridiculously biased when it comes to Fury all the time surely?

That's basically what I said! This is the same Price who repeatedly turned down Chisora!

You're right. Price avoided Delboy, the same way Fury ducked Price.

Price talked repeatedly about how much winning the Lonsdale belt outright meant to him when he was banging out washed up 40 somethings like Skelton and Harrison.

Chisora became his mandatory.

Price vacated.

The Londsdale belt has never been mentioned by Price since

In fairness to Price, if my memory is correct he only vacated after his losses to Thompson, and I seem to remember him being interviewed on Bunce's Boxing Hour confirming that he wasn't ready to face Chisora at that time as he needed to go away and rebuild his career. So yes he did duck Chisora, but at least he was honest about the reasons why.

(As opposed to Fury suddenly deciding that the Irish heavyweight title was more prestigious than the British when he became Price's mandatory :TU: )

When Price was knocking everyone out, Sky took him to a Wlad fight and he said he was nowhere near ready for him. One of the panelists on Ringside picked up on it and said it was a concern, but I can't remember who.to knock back Chisora too.. The guy has no self confidence.

At the time, price v fury was going to be big for numbers. Before the 1st Thompson fight. People I know who aren't really boxing fans they just follow the controversy. And we're talking off it. Remember tysons rant after a price win. If they had made it then they would have sold twice what fury v chisora 2 is going to sell.

It would have bee close but it didn't happen and don't think it will happen until fury has been beaten up by wlad.

Once Tyson is on a rebuild job towards the end of the year/early next price will have overcome so tough Europeans and gone back up the rankings, then bam they can fight each other then, winner gets a shot at wilder/stiverne

I think most people were in agreement that Price should vacate his belts and have a few confidence builders after back to back KO's to Thompson rather than fight Chisora or even anyone at title level really

If Price was to fight Del Boy and get beat, everyone would be up in arms for him being put in with him after 2 consecutive stoppage losses

He wasn't ready for Klitschko. At least it was a realistic assessment.

He wasn't ready for Tony Thompson.

True. But you know what I mean.

I'd rather David Price test himself above British level before he started making World Championship boasts. Tony Thompson was that test. The world champion shouldn't be who you test yourself against. It's who you should be facing after you've proved yourself, not before.

Fury mustn't have been ready for Price.

He needs to have 5 or 6 hard 12 round fights before that question mark is put to bed. The problem is most people can't take his power that long! The whole thing means his career is going to be a nightmare to manage.

In terms of the Fury fight, I think Price would tag him early and knock him out, but if he didn't, there's every chance Fury could wear him down.

Great fight and I hope it gets made.

I don't think either are good enough to rule even once Wlad has long gone, but I do believe both could hold a belt at some point.
Price is also terrified of getting hit aswell though. Everytime he gets hit he seems to go into panic mode.

Yes, but Mick wasn't to know that. Again, with hindsight, you'd have thought Mick would have been keen after Price couldn't knock him out when he was 17! Mick will have been protecting his own deal. I bet Tyson was screaming for it!

I think Fury would have definitely beaten Price back then. I actually think it's a harder fight for Fury now. I think Tyson would piss about and be overconfident. If Price can land a bomb or two, it's goodnight.

Ultimately it was Tyson's decision not to take the fight and take the titles. Damn shame. I know the reasons why and I understand, but ducking is ducking. It's the same as when Bowe didn't fight Lewis. TV deals and money.
