Maybe Wilder was wishful thinking, though I could never be bothered to remember all the alliances and feuds behind the scenes in boxing.... Wilder certainly seems a more interesting opponent than Jennings.

I don't follow this Al Haymon/HBO nonsense, why don't they work together?

I told you it will the left hook that makes the difference

Impressed by Wlad, more so than for a few years, and very disappointed by Pulev....he seemed to get caught between two stools for me.

There was some good early aggression in there - he at least tried something - but then he'd kind of stand too close to Wlad, leaning slightly back and not forming any kind of effective guard. Sure enough, WK closed the distance and his jab started thudding home and some power shots as well. I think Pulev was shocked by WK's overall quickness and movement.

Wlad felt a jab in the first round. A jab!

Agreed and well said.

Good call :salut:

@fergusg...fair point, but I was actually disappointed by Pulev precisely because I rated him very highly and did not think he lived in that unfortunate/unfair bracket some people liberally toss about when a fighter gets beaten. Kubrat remains a top fighter who just got his tactics badly wrong on the night; that's why I was disaapointed.

The type of beating that Pulev took in this fight.Might be too much for him psychologically.
I look forward to see his next fight and see how he performs.

Yeah I agree.
Of course, I've never been knocked out :) But Pulev coming into the fight so confident and undefeated, and with a good solid chin, and then being straight up KO'd by one of the best heavyweight punchers ever, ouch...

Pulev seems pretty tough though. I'm sure we'll see him in some good fights in the next couple of years (against people not named Wlad).

Too bad there isn't some way to actually measure the force of a punch so we could compare Wladdy's super powerful blows to the weak-wristed taps of Foreman, Shavers, Louis, Frazier, etc. The concussive force of his left hook is easily demonstrated on the granite chins of the superior 21st century scientific boxers like Mormeck, Chambers, Wach, Chagaev, etc. The greatest fighting machines of all time!

I take it you are being sarcastic :)
But seriously, You really wouldn't have Wlad Klitschko in the top-10 all-time regarding Heavyweight Power? You don't think Wlad is one of the hardest hitters of all time? Emphasis on "one of" and "top 10".
