Promotors/managers have got to take the good with the bad. Everytime before all I have done is say good things about their shows. If they do something right then I will give them credit if it's wrong I will say. It's like going to a restaurant that you have had a great meal from before then suddenly it's not. Are you going to give them a good review? It's a shame because it was a huge opportunity. Someone was doing figures earlier based on 400 tickets sold and averaging £40 a ticket. From what im hearing Most of the floor seats are sold which is about £12,000 alone. 6 fighters selling tickets I would expect at least 500 £40 tickets to go. I hear Mikey has sold a lot and Ronnie has done good as well. Your looking at a income from the event of around £30k.. The cost of the show will be around the £20k mark once everything has been paid including fighters. On these kind of shows your lucky to break even. It looks like they are on course to do pretty well even with 400 sold I would expect a tidy profit. Also depends if the managed to negotiate part of the bar profit would be even higher.

if they only sell 400 at 40 that equals £16k mate and the show is costing 20k you have got your maths wrong the promotor needs at least 500 at £40 to break even

I broke that down quite simply 10 tables is a estimate that 100 people at £90 which = £9,000 ... 50 tickets at £60 = £3k and a minimum of 400 tickets at £40 = £16,000 thats a minimum income of £28k.. I have worked out how much this exact show would cost from when Sweeney Promotions done the show. My maths are spot on. These were minimum numbers we looked at with selling tickets at £30 and there was still profit there. They will do quite well from the show if these minimum ticket sales are met. My £20k total expense is with 6 fights will they all happen?

if what you say is true they will make money for sure if the expenses all in is 20k i wish you all the best of luck with it I am surprised that promotors are not queing up to come to Dundee mate if them figures can be done

Results Connor law 1st round stoppage, jamie wilson 2nd round stoppage, Andrew mackay decision, dropping opponent in 3rd, looked very good for a debut, ronnie clark 6th round stoppage, mikey towell 1st round stoppage

I wasn't there but I'm guessing Ronnie was outstanding against a very tough opponent and will step it up even more when someone steps up to fight him. I bet his fans were great, too...

Nah nothing like that, regarding the show we had 4 stoppages out of 5, make of what you will, Iv been told Iv got to rain it in a bit with honesty so let others judge, as for ronnies opponent people who go to shows will know the script, Chris adaway was very good and has a future ahead of him, proper nice guy also, out of the 5 fights ronnie had the high risk no reward situation, nothing to gain everything to lose, and was professional, moved through the gears, took his time, and finished the fight, nothing more nothing less, mikey foight a guy who was not fit to be in the ring with him, support was quite flat last night, mikeys support was fun, and what it should be, although dancing on tables, jumping in the ring and easy chants not my cup of tea ha, hopefully next show they learn and it matched up good:) roll on aberdeen

Honest opinion from me is. Firstly Saltire deserve a bit of credit the show was actually well run. Got a bit worried for them when the first 2 fights finished early and looked like the 3rd was going to as well. Thought was going to be a very early night. In saying that all fights were finished for just after 9.30 which is a tad early. Any casual fan or fan just watching their fighter will have loved it as plenty of stoppages and a noisy crowd for most fights although was a bit flat. Standard of opponents were really poor. Got to feel really sorry for Mikey he worked really hard for a home fight and got a guy that shouldn't be in the ring. there is a lot said just now about health of boxers and the checks they need to go through. I seen 2 fighters last night that had no right to be pro boxers and how they got sanctioned in these fights are beyond me. Matchmaking has to be better for 1) the safety of boxers and 2) for fighters progression. Ronnie's fight was good standard although Ronnie won every round, Chris showed he will cause a few upsets he gave Ronnie more to think about than in most of his pro fights to date. He was also very very tough to keep taking those body shots all night. Ronnie could do better but couldn't ask for a better opponent at this stage. For me I would say a decent start at putting a show on. I think could make a massive show in Dundee and last night showed the potential again most were happy

This was a good promotion. There was a bigger crowd than previous occasions and was much better organised.

The boy Mackay from Inverness ,on his debut, performed very well . Scored a knockdown and looked ready for the pro game. The lad Wilson was a surprise, Stopped a good opponent early on and had him all over the place with well timed punches.

Clark , looked a few pounds overweight, but was actually much stronger than I've seen him. Adaway is a tough lad, who lands good clean jabs and crosses, and scored often. But Clark, who I don't remember throwing a jab throughout, was always in his face and never gave him a minutes rest. Good stoppage, and a good nights work.

I don't agree that Trizno was a bad opponent. I've looked at his record in the UK and from that I expected Towell to be given a hard few rounds. Towell came out at a much slower pace than normal, but you just can't hold the lad back. He was obviously planning to take things a bit slower but a right hook caused Trizno to wobble and that was enough. Towell went to town and the visitor had to be saved just before the first bell.

I'll say it again - Towell's the best prospect in Scotland, bar none.

Really? fornicating idiots. there is a difference of showing support for your fighter, and showing yourself up.

Haha one guy jumped in, got asked to get out, on way out leg got caught in rope was dangling upside down which was funny, his support very vocal but said to mikeys Mrs before they have to rain it in after fights as gping in ring etc, disagree regarding trizno he wasn't fit to be in with mike sorry, mike sold 12k in tickets and gets that kind of opponent, hopefully better opponent for next one

Great to hear the show went relatively well,I couldn't afford to go which I was gutted about as its the first one I've missed,I'm also missing today's cup final which pisses me off

Great win for Towell as no ones done that to Trizno but after beating 2 journeymen sine Pagan he needs a real test next unless Mikey gets injured anything else is unacceptable, I was expecting a better opponent for Clark's homecoming seeing as hes coming off the eliminator with Evans which he performed well,Ronnie deserved it

If I'm honest the promotion was shocking and the prices were extortionate and I'm glad all the home fighters got the win but the promoters need to show a bit of faith in Ronnie and bring a name or a former titlist for him to fight, I'm not as gutted about missing this show as I should be

Above post is spot on, we were a bit disappointed with ronnies opponent as was all risk and no reward which wasn't ideal, his opponent was a very decent fighter and has only been pro 6 months and has the right mentality, for me that will go in his favour as sam egginnton has proven, a big fight for ronnie in dundee won't happen as saltire won't back it, mikey towell is being built and selling 12 k in tickets and bringing in the show sponsor quote rightly, granite promotions will back him, ronnie will take a challenge and won't shirk it, I heard that mike is signing with saltire once his contract with Tommy is out so they have to build it, but people want real fights and saltire will deliver Im sure, show wasn't as bad as I predicted so there is positives

Yes One boy tried to go in the ring but theres always one drunken idiot out a bunch. On the other hand what a bloody brilliant show. I think the show was ran brilliantly and the crowd deffinutly made themselfs heard and gave the best support for there local boxer. The way it should be!!! There was also "easy" chants made from other supporters but whatever. How you can say a boy whos had 60 odd fights in with some of the best guys is unfit is beyond me. But Jamie im sure you will think of a good answer for us all.

In fairness the only good guy he's been in with is a much lighter Junior Witter. Looking at the boy last night he should not have been boxing. He was not in shape of a pro boxer at the weight. It was a complete Mis match. If you think that was a brilliant run show you need to get to more shows. Few points from people's posts I want to pick up on. There was more tickets sold for the first one at the Caird hall the balcony was over half full last time wasn't even close to half this time. Where Ticket sales were good was on the floor more £90 and £60 tickets were sold. Got to remember the last Dundee show lost about 80 tickets with the Jamie Wilson fight being cancelled. Secondly fans were brilliant right through the night and all Ronnie's and Jamie's fans got right behind Mikey. There was a good few Mikey fans cheering on Chris Adaway which is their choice. It was really this same small section that were a bit out of order. Jumping on tables rushing the ring no place for that in boxing hopefully the boys will learn their lesson and think next time as its Mikey that will suffer long term. I hate the easy chant these lads risk their well being to go in the ring to entertain us. It's disgusting anyone doing the easy chant. If it's that easy have a crack at it yourself and they will soon find out just how easy it is. Yes it wasn't just Mikeys fan another fighters fans done the same but was less noticeable due to the amount of fans. Best fight of the night was Andrew McKay v Evans both getting hurt at times was fun that was a well matched fight although on paper it looked terrible. Summing up the night the show was better this time than last. The value for money was bad. If saltire decide to do it again a wee tip get Radio Tay and DC Thomsons on board plenty of work with them. Also bigger fights for £40 standard I would be expecting a British title fight or at the very least an eliminator.

One fan rushed the ring chloe? Ok then, that's a blatant lie, I counted atleast 5 in at different times, why would I lie? Also he's not really fought massive names, some older people who went for mikey said to me it was a mismatch, on paper and In the ring, was that worth 40 pound? Go upto aberdeen next month chloe mikey will go up as craig kelly v matty mcAllister so that's anfight he'll want, see how a proper show is run, best show in Scotland bar none, respectful fans who cheers on both fighters, evenly matched fights to an extent which offers value for money, it's not in my intrestz to slate the show, I was involved in selling tickets, I also want mikey to do well, but as a boxing fan I dknt wanna see that kinda fight, said same to my brother, it's pointless .

As for mikey being s top prospect I agree, he's exciting but at same time for me Connor law is unreal, monster at Weight, can box and punch, you should try get along and see him:)

lol you really need to bore off. I knew as soon as i came on here there would be comments made from you. you clearly have a problem with michael whether he was fighting muhammed ali or a boy from the street you would have something negative to say. And for fans cheering on Chris its maybe because theyve also been calls idiots etc from Jamie Meechan, who i really think does no favours what so ever for his brother. you should maybe think about becoming a promotor yourself you seem like youd be brilliant at it! And Ronnie has had plenty of mis matches, dont see you running that all over the internet. You also contradict yourself quite alot. "Records are for Djs" yet all youve spoke about since his opponent was named was how bad his record was. Maybe you should focus less on Michael and more on your own boxer. Anyway well done to all Dundee boxers on there wins, roll on the next one :)

while i agree the named poster has a confrontational posting style, it is not acceptable for one never mind four of any fighters fans to run into the ring ... i wasent there but i have seen mikeys fans in action and while you cant fault getting behind your man, there is no need for that sort of shit. That sort of behaviour could damage Mikeys reputation as some promotors wouldn't want to risk having that sort of stuff going on in their shows
