How many times does he have to deliberately use his head to get disqualified ?

How many times does a fighter have to hold before getting spoken to?

No remorse or complaint from Ormond in his body language. Acts of desperation and a good call from the ref.

How many times is Flanagan allowed to grab hold of him? If Steve Gray had put an end to the holding early on, there wouldn't have been any headbutts, got to the point where Ormond had had enough and stuck the head in, don't blame him one bit, just should have done it to the ref not Flanagan.

Flannigan was taking over though and prob a few rounds ahead.
Have to agree. Ref should have dealt with Flanagan's holding. But whether you agree with the refs treatment of Ormond's head use, he was a major spanner for sticking it in again when on a final warning.

No complaint from Ormond though.
Though Terry tied him up well wasn't hugely excessive.
Listen to Ormond now he is being honest he lost to the better guy still a nob for using the head.
he is a decent fighter and he was still in it.

Had Flanagan ahead. Was close and Ormond was still in it. He only has himself to blame there! Rush of blood to the head and let his frustration get to him. Flanagan was the better man on the night. Ormond will come again.

Terry turbo getting on top but that was a really close fight . unbelievable behaviour from Ormond - what an absolute idiot using his head like that .
Three times in the ninth ! , point deducted on the first and yet he continued in frustration.
He was warned by his own corner at the end of the round yet continues.
Imo Terry is the best lightweight we have got.

Every time they got close Flanagan grabbed hold, he'd throw a couple of punches at range, then jump in and hold on, was Klitschko sort of stuff and the ref let it go.

Silly laddie is Ormond,I can't believe he did that,I only had Flanagan up by 2 points at time of DQ,granted Terry was pulling away but Stephen was still in it and let himself down,it wasn't as if he was getting beating up so took the cowards way out,its just strange and anti climatic to say the least

allegedly with Sky standard coverage here, no mention of the holding and praising the referee, expect stuff like this from Sky but not from them.

Did you have money on Ormond or something. I don't disagree with what you're saying but you're banging on a bit here.

Nah, just pissed off, could tell who Frank and allegedly wanted to win right the way through, expected them to actually suggest why Ormond went in with the head and that Flanagan was holding and got away with it, by British boxing standards they're usually pretty impartial. Ormond was stupid but I can see why he did it, Flanagan wouldn't let him work legally so he fouled instead and the ref was desperate to punish him for it.

Ormond was down on the cards and only has himself to blame. You should go and have a play date with Brian Rose and the two of you can have a wee temper party together and see who can spit their dummy the furthest

One of the pundits did mention the frustration with Flanagan's holding thus fouling himself bit, but yeah it was only a brief mention.

Seemed more interested in talking Flanagan up, fair enough I suppose, he did win the fight. Ormond needs to go back to Ireland and rebuild now, get as far away from Warren as possible and build himself back up there with a promoter that's willing to back him.

I always thought he was with Cyclone promotions and was fighting Flanagan based off of the good relationship them and Queensbury have?

Either way it was a great opportunity tonight and he blew it big time.
He has nobody else to blame but himself .
It was a close fight that was turning Terry's way and he completely lost the plot despite having a point deducted , warnings from the referee and his own corner.

Just caught up with this fight. No complaints from me about the stoppage (or from Ormond apparently...). Seemed to me that Flanagan was starting to take over & Ormond took the easy way out, simple as that really.

Living in the same area as Ormond her in Dublin I obviously rooted for him ..
Jesus Christ he made a right show of himself - bizarre carry on from an absolute plonker.

At the end of the 6th Ormand was struggling a bit with the pace, his corner told him to suck it up; though Ormand is a very game competitor fatigue makes cowards of us all. I think he fouled out because he was knackered; Flannigan is very well conditioned and would most likely beat every other British lightweight inside the distance; I'm not sure if he can win a world title but hope he does, he seems a decent man.

I'm not convinced Ormond will ever quite be the same fighter from this. There was not a comment of Flanaghan being the better fighter "ON THE NIGHT" and I noticed he never asked for the rematch, just said it was a good fight.... Flanaghan and Francis suggested a rematch - not Ormond.
I think when you have fighters who rely on their strength and work rate over skill, when they get beat, particularly inside the distance, it is hard for them to come back as the aura of invincibility is gone. Ricky Hatton, John Murray are too prime examples of this.
Ormond knows he can never beat Flanaghan - he gave everything out there, had no excuses and even tried to beat him through illegal tactics.... still came up short. What can Ormond do differently next time, not a lot and he knows it and I think now he knows he can be ultimately outworked it will impact him against anyone and similarly give other fighters more confidence that he can be broken.

He's with Warren but it's pretty clear they see him as nothing more than an opponent. Since they signed him it's been dinner show, opponent for Appleby, York Hall, 10 months out before they let Packie Collins put him on a show he was running in Dublin, dinner show, dinner show, opponent for Mathews, no one for him to fight so they put him on another promoters show, opponent for Flanagan. They tried to put him on the Frampton-Martinez II undercard and it didn't come off.
